Selena Gomez's New Oreo Flavor: Review
This should not be a controversial statement: Oreos are the best store-bought cookies you can find on the shelves. The OG Oreo is a combination of creme and a chocolate cookie that is perfect for dunking in milk or just wolfing down a whole sleeve at lunchtime. If you disagree with me, I don't know what to tell you. Go outside and shake your fist in the air. The other thing I love about Oreos is their versatility. They've played around with the cookie and creme combo and, for the most part, have been very successful. I consider myself a bit of an Oreo Gourmand-o, so I have pretty strong opinions about all of their varieties. (I'll provide my official ranking at the end.) So when I heard that a new Selena Gomez-inspired Oreo was hitting the shelves on June 9, I simply had to try them. But not because of the Selena Gomez of it all. I have a confession to make: I'm…old. At least too old to have a frame of reference for Selena's Disney glory days. In fact, I hadn't even heard of her until the 2012 Harmony Korine movie Spring Breakers. I'm in this purely for my own snack-ucation. Starting off with the packaging, they look appealing. I am a little upset with the size of the package, though. Your standard Oreo package comes in at around 18 ounces, whereas these are about 11 ounces. And at my local Albertson's, both packages cost $5.49, meaning you're paying extra for the name on the front. It better be worth it, Selena! The package on the front says 'Selena's Chocolate & Cinnamon Creme Cookies,' and when you rip it open, you are blasted with that cinnamon smell. A lot of people online have been comparing the flavor to horchata, and, based on smell alone, I can see why. The cookies have the typical Oreo design on one side and six different, Selena-inspired designs on the opposite side. This includes an exclusive signature design that only comes in a certain number of packages, which, if you find it, will allow you to listen to a new Selena Gomez song by scanning it with your phone. What world do we live in? I bought two packages but did not find a signature cookie — and I don't care! Selena's music means nothing to me. I am only concerned with the taste of her cookie. Hey, you! Wanna cook 7,500+ recipes in step-by-step mode (with helpful videos) right from your phone? Download the free Tasty app right now. Let's start with the cookie on its own, which is described as 'chocolate cinnamon-flavored.' If there's any cinnamon in the cookie at all, it's extremely light, and it's not as chocolaty as the normal cookie. Additionally, the texture of the cookie is a little softer than other Oreos I've had. That's not my style. Moving onto the creme center, we get an interesting curveball. There are two layers: a chocolate and cinnamon one, and a sweetened condensed milk one with cinnamon sugar. The sweetened condensed milk layer is the primary source of the horchata comparisons. The creme by itself is very milky sweet with a strong cinnamon aftertaste. The chocolate cinnamon layer may as well not be there. But what is really off-putting with the creme is the cinnamon sugar. It gives the center a grainy texture, which is not why I come to the Oreo time and again. Give me my crunch in the cookie, not the creme! The combination of cookie and creme on its own isn't my favorite. After eating two or three of them, the lingering taste in my mouth is a sickly sweetness with a little bit of spicy heat. I admit that dipping the cookie in milk does help cut down on the initial sweetness, but that doesn't help much — every cookie benefits from a milk bath. Overall, the Selena Gomez Oreo is not for me. I recently had a horchata, and it was delightful; the cinnamon was just enough, and the drink had the right amount of refreshing sweetness. These Oreos just go way too hard on all the flavors in the wrong direction. There's no way I could eat an entire package of these like I could other Oreo varieties. And that's the whole point of Oreos, isn't it? And now, as promised, here's my official ranking of all the Oreos I've tried with no explanation whatsoever: If you're also an Oreo aficionado, download the free Tasty app to browse and save the best Oreo-infused recipes — no subscription required.

I started using coupons on my groceries and have saved hundreds of dollars. My monthly grocery bill has gone from $1,000 to $700.
I have always been frugal and used to love watching "Extreme Couponing." I even tried extreme couponing for a few months, but it was too complicated and time-consuming to track down newspapers, then clip, store, and organize coupons. Math is also not my strong suit, so I'd often end up paying more than I budgeted for when I checked out. I decided extreme couponing wasn't worth it for me, as I couldn't replicate the savings I saw on TV. Fast-forward to 2024. After getting laid off, I was enjoying my funemployment by aimlessly scrolling, and started seeing videos from couponing content creators. I got a crash course in modern-day couponing — and the confidence to try it myself. I've been couponing for a few months now. I support myself and my disabled mother, and I particularly enjoy couponing for groceries, because I've found that I save at least 30% on my grocery bill since I've started. Prior to couponing, I was spending $ 1,000 a month on groceries, around $250 a week. Now, I average around $700 a month, or $175 a week. I plan my shopping trips ahead of time Now, most couponing is done digitally, using apps and digital coupons. No more hunting down newspapers and spending time clipping coupons out. The apps also ensure that all of your coupons and rewards are applied to your account and do the math for you — no calculator needed. There are still paper coupons, but the best coupons are often on a store's app or website. Stores have weekly ad schedules, and knowing when the preview of their upcoming sales ad is released makes it easier to plan. Every week, I will review my store's weekly sales ad and plan that week's grocery shopping. Digital coupons usually aren't released until the day the new sales start, so that morning, I go through and "clip" any digital coupons that are relevant to my shopping list. Typically, I place a pickup order to save time and ensure that all sales and coupons have been applied, rather than going through the store myself and leaving room for error. There have been times when I have shopped in-store and bought the wrong item that wasn't on sale or had a coupon. Using pickup also prevents me from making any last-minute splurges. Even if I plan to shop in-store, I still add all of my items to the app ahead of my trip so that I know what my total will be. I focus on only one grocery store I typically focus on just one store; Albertson's is close to my house, and I have learned not only when they run new sales but also that they tend to rotate the same items being on sale. I know that if I miss a great deal on something I want, it'll come back around. I'm also a rewards member, which is just another way that helps me save money. By shopping there regularly, I've also become familiar with the store's layout, allowing me to complete my shopping trips quickly and avoid being tempted by items not on my list. Also, by focusing on one store, I save a lot of time, gas, and money by not chasing deals at multiple stores. I stock up when groceries are at their lowest price My favorite store recycles its sales, but they will change the sale amounts. For example, one week, chuck roast might be on sale for $4/lb, and three weeks later, it's on sale for $2/lb. By reviewing the sales ad each week, I've noticed that $2/lb is the lowest they price it, so that's when I stock up as much as I can. I don't have much extra storage space, but my goal is to buy a deep freezer so I can stock up on more food. I have a mental inventory of all my staples, and I stock up when they're at the best price so I never run out. That way, I already have what I need and won't have to run out and buy something when it's at full price. I enjoy couponing, and it saves me money Couponing is a great way to save money, and it has also become my favorite hobby. I enjoy planning my shopping trips, and I get a thrill when the deal works out exactly as I planned. A lower grocery bill frees up money to spend on other things. During unemployment, I'm focused on saving, but when I get my next job, I want to save up for a European vacation. And, of course, I want to buy a deep freezer. Each week, it only takes me about 30 minutes to review the sales ad, clip coupons, and build my grocery list by adding all of my items to my cart on the app. I typically do free pickup, which saves even more time. My store provides receipts that show how much you saved, and on average, I save 30-35%. During my most successful shopping trip, I shocked myself by saving 50%. Now, it's become a game to see if I can beat that number. The only con to couponing is that you'll never want to pay full price for anything ever again.

Release Date: March 14, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Lifeway Foods Inc (NASDAQ:LWAY) reported record-high net sales of $186.8 million for 2024, marking a 16.7% increase compared to the previous year. The company achieved its 21st consecutive quarter of year-over-year net sales growth, driven by strong demand for its Lifeway branded drinkable kefir. Lifeway Foods Inc (NASDAQ:LWAY) maintained a solid gross profit margin of 26% despite inflationary pressures, indicating effective cost management. The company expanded its distribution network, including the addition of Lifeway Farmer Cheese to 1,400 Albertson's stores and ProBugs Organic Kefir for kids to over 250 Harris Teeter stores. Lifeway Foods Inc (NASDAQ:LWAY) continues to innovate with new product launches, such as lactose-free kefir and probiotic smoothies with collagen, catering to evolving consumer preferences. Inflationary pricing in milk, the company's largest raw material, posed challenges to maintaining profit margins. Despite strong sales growth, the company faces increasing year-over-year comparisons, which may challenge sustaining the same growth momentum. Capital spending increased to $6.7 million, which, while supporting growth, also reflects higher operational costs. The macroeconomic environment, including high prices and interest rates, presents potential risks to consumer spending and demand. While international expansion efforts in regions like Dubai are promising, they currently do not contribute significantly to revenue. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 2 Warning Sign with LWAY. Q: Can you elaborate on the factors driving the strong sales growth in 2024? A: Julie Smolyansky, CEO, explained that the growth was primarily driven by higher volumes of Lifeway-branded drinkable kefir. The company saw strong double-digit volume-led growth across all four quarters, supported by strategic sales and marketing investments that increased exposure and demand for core products. Q: How did inflation impact your profit margins, and what measures are you taking to address it? A: Julie Smolyansky noted that despite inflationary pressures, particularly in milk prices, Lifeway maintained a gross profit margin of 26% for 2024. The company is focusing on driving higher shipment volumes and pursuing productivity measures to expand gross margins further. Q: What are the key innovations and product developments Lifeway introduced recently? A: Julie Smolyansky highlighted several innovations, including the launch of lactose-free organic whole milk kefir flavor fusions and probiotic smoothies with collagen. These products cater to rising consumer demand for lactose-free and gut-health-focused offerings. Q: Can you discuss the recent distribution expansions for Lifeway products? Additionally, Lifeway's products began shipping to Dubai, UAE, in the fourth quarter. Q: How is Lifeway leveraging marketing strategies to enhance brand exposure? A: Julie Smolyansky stated that Lifeway is focusing on interactive retail efforts, e-commerce strategies, and partnerships with social media influencers to drive brand exposure and consumer trial.
