BJP govt conspiring against minority institutions: Akhilesh

Lashing out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged that it was conspiring to dismantle all minority institutions and target both Muslims and Christian organisations. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also alleged corruption in government departments. (HT FIle) Addressing a press conference at the SP headquarters in Lucknow on Friday, Akhilesh said: 'The BJP follows the British policy of divide and rule. Madrasas are being shut down, land records are being scrutinised, and bulldozers are being used on madrasa properties. The BJP is not just targeting Muslims, but is now trying to enter Christian institutions too. Lakhs of posts are vacant across departments, including two lakh in the education department. Yet the government boasts of a trillion-dollar economy and a developed India. Does this happen in a developed country?' On the inauguration of Gorakhpur Link Expressway by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, Akhilesh said, 'The trillion-dollar budget is not being spent on education, health and welfare for the poor, but on the highway of loot.' 'The 91-kilometre expressway has been built at a cost of more than ₹ 7,000 crore. It is not an expressway, but a four-lane highway. If you want to know the difference, pick up a book and see what the Indian Road Congress (IRC) says. Is this expressway built as per IRC standards? Will the government take action against those who flouted the norms?' asked Akhilesh. On the recent issue of alleged anomalies in transfers, Akhilesh said, 'There is a dispute as officers and ministers want to work as per their own free will. A deputy CM has complained that the officer of his department did not show him the list of transfers.' The SP chief alleged corruption in departments such as education, PWD, and urban development. 'There is a fixed rate for transfers. Despite Smart City funds from both Delhi and Lucknow, cities like Mathura, Agra and Unnao are struggling with clogged drains. The level of corruption in U.P. today is unprecedented,' he alleged. Akhilesh further alleged that the BJP was against PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) and reservation. 'The rules of reservation are not being followed in recruitments. We all have to come together and protect reservation and the Constitution given by Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. PDA is our emotional slogan and it connects people,' the SP chief said.

On Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Akhilesh says ‘It's a four-lane road, not an expressway'

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday targeted the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh over the newly inaugurated Gorakhpur Link Expressway, claiming the government was wrongly calling a four-lane road an expressway. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Yadav said, 'The 91-km road was built at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore. If we take out Rs 2,000 given to farmers for compensation then Rs 5000 crore has been used to build it. This means it cost Rs 50 crore per kilometre' he said. Claiming that Lucknow-Agra Expressway had followed all the required parameters for an expressway, Yadav alleged that same were not followed in construction of the Purvanchal Expressway. Once his party comes to power, he would get the Purvanchal Expressway re-constructed with proper standards, he added. 'They raise fingers at the highway built by others. Today, the most expensive highway has been made. Today, all the newspapers mentioned that it was built at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore,' the former chief minister said. 'Our CM does not know the difference between a four-lane highway and an expressway,' the SP chief charged. SP & BSP demand action over 'graft' in transfers The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party on Friday targeted the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh alleging corruption in transfers of employees. Addresing the media, SP president Akhilesh Yadav claimed a fight is on between ministers and officers over exchange of money. He said this in response to a question on a recent tussle between the district magistate and chief medical officer in Kanpur. There were reports of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak complaining that transfers were ordered without his knowledge, he said. Mayawati said, 'There has been a debate over allegations of corruption in various departments. The CM should take cognisance by not only activating the Vigilance Department but also constituting a time-bound inquiry by an SIT.'

RSS-BJP talk swadeshi, back videshi products: Akhilesh

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said the RSS and BJP promote swadeshi products only when they are in the opposition but when in govt they frame policies that encourage foreign goods, especially Chinese. "When out of the govt, the BJP and RSS never get tired of talking about the importance of swadeshi (Indian). The RSS leaders make tall claims and give long lectures on promoting Indian products. Now that they are in the govt, they have formulated policies because of which foreign made products have flooded the Indian market. Goods made in China have virtually captured the Indian market," Akhilesh said. He blamed the faulty policies of the saffron party responsible for "completely destroying the cottage and small-scale industries in the country". The former UP CM said the BJP govts at the Centre and UP lack vision needed for the development of the country. "This is because their focus always remains on hatching conspiracies to defame opposition leaders. They blatantly misuse the govt machinery to malign the image of the opposition and its leaders. Their approach is dictatorial, and they want to control the constitutional institutions in India," Akhilesh said. He called upon the cadres to strengthen the booths for the 2027 assembly polls and beware of BJP's conspiracies to manipulate elections. "It is the responsibility of our booth level leaders to ensure that the voter lists are in order and free of anomalies," he said. 'Transfer scam is BJP's corruption' Lucknow: Taking a jibe at the BJP govt over cancellation of 202 transfers in stamp and registry department over allegations of irregularities, Akhilesh Yadav said in the BJP regime such exposes surface only when someone is deprived of his share in corruption. Akhilesh posted a video of the minister for stamp and registration talking to the media about how 202 officers and employees of his department were transferred without his knowledge and how the transfer list was found to be riddled with anomalies, to state that in BJP govt, corruption has several beneficiaries and was not limited to one or two individuals. Earlier, the former UP CM had cited the suspension of Invest UP CEO senior IAS Abhishek Prakash over charges of corruption as a classic case where the irregularities came to fore after some individuals were denied share in the cut.

BJP's Praveen Khandelwal calls INDI alliance 'opportunistic', hits out at Akhilesh Yadav's 2027 poll claim

New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Praveen Khandelwal on Wednesday criticised Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing the opposition-led INDIA bloc of indulging in 'politics of opportunism' after Yadav said the alliance would contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election together. Reacting to Yadav's statement, Khandelwal said the INDI alliance only stays united when it is convenient, but splits when it is not. 'Firstly, what INDI alliance is he (Akhilesh Yadav) talking about? Where it is not known who is a friend or an enemy. We have seen this in the elections of the Lok Sabha as well, and after that, we have been seeing it continuously in the elections of various states. This is not an alliance but the politics of opportunism in which, when there is convenience, we become one, but when there is inconvenience, we stand against each other,' Khandelwal told ANI. Akhilesh Yadav, during a press conference in Lucknow on Tuesday, said that the INDIA alliance 'remains intact' and would jointly fight the 2027 elections in Uttar Pradesh. Responding to this, Khandelwal claimed Yadav was fearful of the BJP's growing popularity in the state under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership. 'The big promises that Akhilesh Yadav is making are because he is scared that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the government is working and making space in the hearts of people of Uttar Pradesh,' he said. On June 17, the SP chief said, 'We don't care about statements made by others. Our INDIA alliance is who want to leave the alliance are free to do so. The INDIA bloc will fight the 2027 UP Assembly elections' Yadav also criticised the state government over the Maha Kumbh mela stampede, stating that the government announced compensation for Kumbh victims, but would not officially name the victims. He said, 'This (UP) government will give Rs 5 lakh in compensation to the Maha Kumbh (stampede) victims, but will not reveal their names officially.' (ANI)
