TG CM taps Centre, seeks nods for Hyd Metro Phase-II project
New Delhi / Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has requested Union Minister for Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar to grant the necessary permissions for the proposed Hyderabad Metro Phase-II at the earliest. The Chief Minister met with Manohar Lal Khattar at the latter's residence in Delhi on Thursday. During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy briefed the union minister about the importance of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 project, which is being taken up on a 76.4 km stretch, to meet the growing requirement of public transportation in the fast developing Hyderabad city. The metro phase-2 will create hassle free commuting by reducing congestion on the roads and also contribute a lot to sustainable development once the project is completed. The CM also informed the union minister that the state government is ready to undertake the project worth Rs 24,269 crore as a joint venture with the central government. Revanth Reddy reminded Manohar Lal Khattar that the DPR has already been submitted with necessary amendments as per the suggestions of the union urban development minister and requested to grant necessary permissions from other departments, considering the importance of the Hyderabad Metro Phase-II project. Egypt's FM, Serbian PM discuss opportunities for increasing mutual investments
CAIRO – 19 June 2025: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Serbian Prime Minister Juro Matsut on Thursday in Cairo. Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty praised the efforts strengthening the bilateral relations between Egypt and Serbia in recent years. He also welcomed the entry of the Free Trade Agreement that was signed in July 2023 into force. This is expected to significantly boost trade exchange and economic cooperation between the two countries. The minister commended Serbia's decision to open the first representative office of its Chamber of Commerce in Cairo. He also emphasized the importance of convening the 19th session of the Joint Economic Committee in the second half of 2025 and holding regular meetings of the Joint Business Council. Minister Abdelatty highlighted opportunities for increasing mutual investment, particularly through projects in Egypt that Serbian companies could benefit from. He noted that Egypt's trade agreements with Arab and African nations, combined with Serbia's business networks, present promising avenues for Egyptian exports to the Western Balkans region. He expressed Egypt's readiness to expand cooperation with Serbia in the fields of renewable energy and natural gas, especially given the recent growth of Serbia's renewable energy sector. Additionally, he underscored Egypt's interest in increasing the number of Serbian tourists visiting Egypt. The Minister also welcomed the idea of sending trained Egyptian workers to support development and industrial sectors in Serbia. He noted the positive momentum in parliamentary relations, citing the formation of the Egyptian-Serbian Parliamentary Friendship Group, and expressed appreciation for Serbia's support of former Minister of Tourism Dr. Khaled El-Anany's candidacy for UNESCO Director-General. The meeting also covered key regional developments. Minister Abdelatty outlined Egypt's position on the situation in the Middle East, focusing on the military escalation between Israel and Iran, as well as the continued Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. He reviewed Egypt's efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to resume ceasefire negotiations, while also commending Serbia's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause. He warned of the dangers posed by the ongoing military escalation in the region and stressed the urgent need for de-escalation, a ceasefire, and a return to negotiations to avoid plunging the region into further instability.

'Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, on an India–US trade deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the US between India and Pakistan,' Misri said. 'The discussion to cease military action took place directly between India and Pakistan through the existing channels of communication between the two armed forces, and it was initiated at Pakistan's request. Prime Minister Modi firmly stated that India does not and will never accept mediation,' he added. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he played a role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan. He has said he told the two nuclear-armed neighbours that the US would engage in substantial trade with them if they ended the conflict. However, the same has been categorically denied by India's Ministry of External Affairs. The India-Pak conflict Tensions escalated between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack in April, which claimed the lives of 26 people. In a retaliatory measure, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' in the early hours of 7 May, targeting nine terrorist training sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. After the Indian armed forces launched precision strikes, Pakistan resorted to heavy artillery firing across the border areas along the Line of Control (LoC), forcing India to strike Pakistani military assets. After four days of drone and missile exchanges, both India and Pakistan, on 10 May, agreed to an 'understanding to stop all firing and military actions'.

Kuwait holds third day of emergency meetings as regional unrest escalates
Officials reassure public while keeping details of contingency plans under wraps KUWAIT: For the third day in a row, senior Kuwaiti officials have convened emergency meetings in response to the escalating conflict between Iran and the Zionist entity, assuring that essential services are secure and the country remains prepared for any scenario. On Saturday evening, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council at Bayan Palace, where senior ministers and security officials reviewed the latest regional developments and discussed Kuwait's precautionary measures. 'The council reviewed key regional developments and received briefings from ministers and top state officials on the preparedness of relevant agencies and the precautionary steps taken to confront all possible scenarios,' the government said in an official statement. While officials have not disclosed details of the emergency plans, they emphasized that all government bodies are operating in coordination to ensure the continuity of services and the security of citizens and residents. 'All entities are working to secure basic services, ensure the availability of all necessary supplies, and facilitate the continuity of public services, with the goal of preserving security and stability in the country,' the statement added. Minister of Social Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwaila convens a meeting with undersecretaries to review the strategic stockpile of essential goods. The heightened state of alert follows a dramatic surge in regional tensions. On Friday, the Zionist entity launched an unprecedented series of airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting nuclear, military and civilian infrastructure. According to Iranian officials, the strikes have so far killed 128, including senior Revolutionary Guard commanders and children. Iran and the Zionist entity have exchanged strikes since then, with Iranian attacks killing 13 people in the Zionist entity. The meeting follows a statement released by the minister on Sunday, in which she confirmed that the cooperative sector is closely monitoring the availability of goods in coordination with relevant government agencies. 'The strategic stockpile is stable and goods are available to meet consumers' needs without any obstacles,' she said. On the environmental front, Acting Director-General of the Environment Public Authority Nouf Behbehani confirmed that Kuwait is 'closely monitoring the environmental impacts of regional developments,' and that a comprehensive assessment is underway to detect and respond to any cross-border environmental risks. Her remarks come amid international concern after Zionist airstrikes targeted Iranian nuclear facilities. While no radiation leaks have been detected, global experts and agencies have warned of potential risks if the escalation continues. Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty made phones with his Qatari and Iranian counterparts Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Abbas Araghchi, respectively CAIRO- 13 June 2025: Two phone calls took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, with his Qatari and Iranian counterparts Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Abbas Araghchi, respectively, to discuss the developments in the region following the military attacks launched by Israel against several military and nuclear sites in Iran early this morning. During the two calls, views and assessments were tackled regarding the repercussions of the unjustified and irresponsible Israeli aggression and its dangerous impact on the security and stability of the region. During his call with his Iranian counterpart, Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's rejection and condemnation of the infringement on the sovereignty of states and the violation of their unity and territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of working to de-escalate tensions and prevent the entire region from slipping into chaos and expanding the scope of the conflict. Separately, Minister Abdelatty's call with his Qatari counterpart also addressed the developments in the efforts being made by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of hostages and prisoners, as well as efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip amid the deteriorating humanitarian situation. Egypt strongly condemned the military strikes carried out by the Israeli army against Iran in the early hours of June 13, 2025. 'These attacks represent a blatant and extremely dangerous escalation in the region, a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a direct threat to both regional and international peace and security,' the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. 'Egypt is following these rapid developments with deep concern and firmly denounces this unjustified act, which will only exacerbate the crisis and risks triggering a broader regional conflict. Such escalation could have unprecedented consequences for the region's security and stability, endangering its peoples and threatening to plunge the entire Middle East into widespread chaos,' the statement continued. Egypt reiterated its position that the crises facing the region cannot be resolved through military means, but rather through political and peaceful solutions. The Ministry stressed that the use of force will not bring security to any country, including Israel. True security, it emphasized, can only be achieved by respecting state sovereignty, preserving the unity and territorial integrity of nations, delivering justice, and ending the Israeli occupation of Arab lands. Israel carried out airstrikes on several Iranian cities, inclduing nuclear sites, in the early hours of June 13, 2025, killing at least 78 people and injuring 329 others as a preliminary toll, inclduing Iranian nuclear scientists and military leaders. The Israeli army said in a statement on Friday that it luanhced a 'preemptive strike against Iran's Nuclear Program' with more than 200 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, operating with precise intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, conducted coordinated strikes on over 100 targets across Iran. Israeli media outlets reported that the Israeli operation against Iran could last for weeks amid Iranian threat of a severe retaliation. Iranian military leaders killed in the Israeli airstrikes include Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian General Staff, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid. The Khatam al Anbiya Headquarters is a Unified Combatant Command Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, operating under the direct command of the General Staff, is responsible for planning and coordinating joint military operations across all branches of Iran's armed forces. Also, Hossein Salami, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the airstrikes. Besides killing civilians inlcuding women and children, six nuclear sceintists were killed in the israeli airstrike; Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Friday that the scientists killed included Fereydoun Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, a prominent physicist and president of Islamic Azad University. Several world countries, inlcuding, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, and Oman- the broker of the US/Iranian talks on the Iranian nucleary program- condemned the Israeli attacks, saying these blatant attacks violate the interntaional laws. Additionally, several countries suspended their flights to and from Iran and Israel.
