Adam 'Pacman' Jones' Attorney Speaks Out Against Police After Arrest
Adam 'Pacman' Jones' Attorney Speaks Out Against Police After Arrest originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - Some facts are indisputable. Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals standout Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested in Northern Kentucky on multiple charges, including assaulting an officer, and placed into custody on Saturday morning. Advertisement According to charges from the Kenton County Jail records, Jones was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday. He was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place (first and second defense), second degree disorderly conduct, and third degree assault on a police or probation officer. As Jones, 41, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m., his attorney is speaking out while accusing some of twisting those facts. 'The recent arrest of Adam 'Pacman' Jones in Covington, Kentucky, is yet another example of overzealous policing and the systemic issues that plague our justice system,' attorney Pete Schaefer said. 'Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained ... Advertisement 'Initially, officers claimed he was being arrested for assault and then shifted to public intoxication (which, in itself, is not a crime in many jurisdictions unless it leads to dangerous behavior), and finally settled on disorderly conduct — simply for asking why he was being detained. "This pattern of escalating and inconsistent charges is a clear abuse of authority and demonstrates a troubling trend of police officers prioritizing their own discretion over constitutional rights.'' Schaefer also suggested Jones has been victimized by the court of public opinion. 'Adam, like every American, is innocent until proven guilty. Yet, once again, his past is being weaponized against him in the court of public opinion, while the officers involved face no scrutiny for their conduct. The repeated mischaracterization of his encounters with law enforcement — often stemming from minor incidents — only reinforces the need for accountability in policing. "Enough is enough ... Adam deserves fairness, not another headline designed to paint him as a villain for clicks.'' Advertisement Our approach to our coverage of Jones' alleged issues has been a sober and serious one, colored by concern for all involved. Period. Again, factually ... Jones has been arrested numerous times during the past two decades, most recently in November 2024 in Arlington, Texas for another case allegedly involving public intoxication, assault of a police officer, and evading arrest ... all coming following the highly publicized Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight at AT&T Stadium. Jones' issues date back to the start of his NFL career, which began with him being the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, the selection made by the Tennessee Titans. In addition to the Titans, Jones played for the Cowboys (in 2008), the Cincinnati Bengals (from 2010-2017), and Denver Broncos (in 2018). Advertisement He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and a first-team All-Pro in 2014. In October 2008, Jones, as a member of the Cowboys, was suspended for at least four games for an altercation at a Dallas hotel. A cornerback and spectacular punt return specialist, Jones retired from professional football in 2019 after his career spanning 12 seasons. Former NFL player Adam 'Pacman' Jones shares arrest footage as agent slams 'overzealous' Kentucky police
Adam 'Pacman' Jones (via Getty Images) Adam 'Pacman' Jones , the former NFL cornerback and West Virginia University standout, has released a video showing his recent arrest by police officers in Covington, Kentucky. The footage, captured outside a bar near Cincinnati, has sparked fresh controversy, with Adam Jones' agent calling the officers' actions an example of 'overzealous policing. ' Adam Jones was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public space, second-degree disorderly conduct, and third-degree assault of a police officer. Video adds new layer to Adam Jones' arrest; agent claims rights were violated In the newly released video, which surfaced through TMZ Sports, Adam Jones, who was involved in a disturbance in a local bar, is seen interacting tensely with two Covington officers before being restrained against a police vehicle. The authorities alleged Adam Jones was drunk and acting in a disorderly manner. He was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center after his arrest. But things changed dramatically after Adam Jones released what seems like surveillance footage showing one officer roughly grabbing him, which has now led to a question about the use of force during the arrest. Jones' representative, Peter Schaffer, issued a forceful statement after the incident, asserting that his client was simply exercising his constitutional right to ask why he was being held in custody. Former WVU player Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested outside of Cincinnati This recent incident is at least the fourth arrest of Jones since 2021. He was previously arrested for the first time at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in 2023 and again following the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing bout in Las Vegas in November of 2024, both of which were also for offenses involving alcohol and public conduct. Jones, who last played in the NFL in 2018, spent most of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans and playing briefly with the Dallas Cowboys. His post-NFL years have been marred by multiple run-ins with law enforcement, many of which have ended with charges that were later dropped or reduced. The footage that came out may prove key to public opinion-and perhaps in legal proceedings themselves.

Adam Jones' camp breaks silence on shocking arrest in Kentucky
The post Adam Jones' camp breaks silence on shocking arrest in Kentucky appeared first on ClutchPoints. Former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones was arrested in Kentucky early Saturday morning. He was charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and public intoxication and was released on $10,000 bond. Now, Jones' agent Peter Schaffer is speaking out. 'The recent arrest of Adam 'Pacman' Jones in Covington, Kentucky, is yet another example of overzealous policing and the systemic issues that plague our justice system. Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained—a fundamental question that every citizen should be allowed to ask without fear of retaliation,' Schaffer wrote, per Jordan Schultz on X. 'Initially, officers claimed he was being arrested for assault, then shifted to public intoxication… and finally settled on disorderly conduct—simply for asking why he was being detained. This pattern of escalating and inconsistent charges is a clear abuse of authority and demonstrates a troubling trend of police officers prioritizing their own discretion over constitutional rights. 'Adam, like every American, is innocent until proven guilty. Yet, once again, his past is being weaponized against him in the court of public opinion, while the officers involved face no scrutiny for their conduct. The repeated mischaracterization of his encounters with law enforcement—often stemming from minor incidents—only reinforces the need for accountability in policing. 'We call for a full and transparent review of this arrest, and we stand firm in the belief that no one should be treated as guilty before they've even had their day in court,' Schaffer added (full statement here). Jones was selected sixth overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played for the Titans, Cowboys, Bengals and Broncos over his 13-year career. However, Jones is best remembered as a member of the Bengals. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2014 and a Pro Bowl nod in 2015 while with Cincinnati. Jones is no stranger to law enforcement. He's had numerous run-ins with police dating back to before he entered the NFL. More recently, Jones was arrested at a casino and allegedly threatened to kill an officer as he was taken into custody in 2019. And last year he was charged with assault on a peace officer, public intoxication, evading and resisting arrest after the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight in Arlington, Texas. Jones announced his retirement from the NFL after the 2018 season.
