Saudi Arabia affirms its unwavering commitment to support global humanitarian issues
Saudi Gazette report GENEVA — Saudi Arabia affirmed its unwavering commitment to support global humanitarian issues and its contributions to alleviating the suffering of those affected by wars and disasters. Addressing the UN Economic and Social Council in Geneva, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila said that Saudi Arabia, despite global economic challenges, continues its generous approach as one of the largest donor countries in the humanitarian and development fields. The ambassador said that humanitarian crises have become exacerbated by the increase in armed conflicts and the decline in adherence to international humanitarian law, emphasizing that addressing the root causes of crises is crucial to alleviating human suffering. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia's participation in the global initiative to renew its commitment to international humanitarian law, launched by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and its hosting of several peace talks between parties to conflicts results from its belief in the importance of dialogue to achieve lasting peace. Regarding the Palestinian issue, Bin Khothaila explained that Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the serious violations and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people. He emphasized that preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip and using it as a tool of war constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, reiterating Saudi Arabia's call for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire. The ambassador noted that a peace conference, co-chaired with France, was scheduled to be held in June, 2025 as part of Saudi Arabia's efforts within the Global Coalition to implement the two-state solution. However, recent developments in the region led to its postponement. He emphasized the importance of integrating relief and development in addressing crises, pointing to Saudi Arabia's integrated model through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

Saudi Gazette report GENEVA — Saudi Arabia called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities to halt the escalating Israeli crimes and violations in the region. Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila said this in his address to the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia urges stronger global action to protect children in cyberspace at UN
Saudi Gazette report GENEVA — Saudi Arabia has delivered a unified international call for enhanced protection of children in cyberspace during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Speaking on behalf of more than 70 countries, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, emphasized the urgent need for capacity building and international cooperation to safeguard children online. In his statement, Ambassador Khothaila underscored that protecting children in the digital realm is not just a technical concern, but a vital investment in global security and sustainability. The statement noted significant disparities in resources and infrastructure that leave many developing countries ill-equipped to address the growing digital risks facing children. The ambassador urged stronger collaboration between governments and the private sector to establish effective, practical, and sustainable solutions. He also called on the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to provide targeted technical support to countries in need — particularly in developing national legislation, training law enforcement, and implementing secure mechanisms for reporting abuse. The statement concluded by highlighting the shared global responsibility to create a safe digital environment that upholds children's rights and dignity. It also pointed to the Kingdom's leadership in this arena through the recent launch of the Child Protection in Cyberspace (CPC) Global Summit by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman — an initiative aimed at unifying international efforts against online threats to children.

At UNHRC, Saudi Arabia condemns Israel's systemic targeting of Palestinian civilians
Saudi Gazette report VIENNA — Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the ongoing attacks and violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, especially the systematic targeting of civilians. This was stated by Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, Saudi permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva. In his speech at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories, Bin Khothaila affirmed Saudi Arabia's rejection of Israel's recent establishment of an agency aimed at displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the approval of the separation of 13 illegal settlement neighborhoods in the occupied West Bank. He considered these actions as blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law. Bin Khothaila expressed the Kingdom's condemnation of Israel's bombing of Syrian territories, noting that the assaults pose a serious threat to the security and stability of Syria and the entire region. Moreover, he called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these violations and to work towards halting all Israeli military operations, whether in Palestinian or Syrian territories. The ambassador emphasized that peace can only be achieved when the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights, the foremost among them being the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital. He also affirmed the Kingdom's full solidarity with Syria — both its government and people — and called for respect for its sovereignty and an end to all violations threatening its security and stability.

Saudi Arabia Champions Sudan Peace Efforts at UN Council
Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast support for Sudan's stability during a Human Rights Council address. He emphasized Saudi Arabia's dedication to ending the crisis through dialogue, urging warring factions to prioritize civilian safety and institutional preservation. Jeddah Talks: Cornerstone of Regional Diplomacy Ambassador Khothaila highlighted the Jeddah-mediated negotiations, co-led with the U.S., as pivotal for fostering ceasefire agreements and political reconciliation. These talks, initiated in May 2023, aimed to curb violence affecting over 6 million displaced civilians and 13,000 casualties. Despite temporary truce setbacks, Saudi Arabia continues advocating for renewed dialogue frameworks involving regional partners like the African Union and IGAD. The ambassador stressed the urgent need for scalable aid delivery, citing Saudi Arabia's $100 million humanitarian contribution through KSrelief. This funding supports food, medical supplies, and evacuation efforts for 8,000+ individuals from 110 nations. Collaborative Pathways to Sustainable Peace Saudi Arabia urged global stakeholders to unite behind conflict de-escalation measures and inclusive governance models. Khothaila reiterated that lasting peace requires empowering Sudanese-led initiatives, safeguarding economic infrastructure, and countering external interference. The Kingdom also endorsed UN appeals for $2.7 billion in emergency funding to address Sudan's worsening crisis. Concluding his address, Khothaila linked Sudan's recovery to regional security, affirming Saudi Arabia's role as a mediator committed to Arab unity.
