PC welcomes Berlin meeting, stresses need for national consensus
Members of Libya's Presidential Council (PC), Abdullah Al‑Lafi and Musa Al‑Koni, have welcomed the recent International Follow‑Up Committee meeting on Libya, held in Berlin, describing it as a timely and significant step towards revitalising the political process.
In a joint statement, the two leaders emphasised the importance of restoring momentum to the political track and creating a climate conducive to achieving a comprehensive national consensus.
They expressed their appreciation for the statement issued by the meeting's co‑chairs, which reaffirmed support for UN efforts, stressed the primacy of Libyan‑led solutions, rejected unilateral measures, and underscored the urgency of de‑escalation and institutional unity.
Al‑Lafi and Al‑Koni commended the international community's focus on the Advisory Committee's work and its proposals to break the stalemate and foster consensus, describing this as a positive development. They urged for a broad and inclusive national dialogue, conducted in a participatory and responsible manner.
The two council members also praised efforts to build a roadmap through extensive consultations and stressed the necessity for any future arrangements to be grounded in partnership, balance, and a commitment to preserving the unity of the country and the will of its people.
