Man refuses to pick up wife from airport; leaves Reddit divided over who's wrong: ‘She needs to grow up'
Going above and beyond for your significant other, while forgetting practicality, is often considered a mark of a loving relationship. However, sometimes, logistics may hold you back from expressing how much your partner means to you. Also Read | Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma live in separate rooms: Experts reveal what it really means for your relationship Recently, a man's confession about refusing to pick up his wife from the airport and asking her to meet him at the hotel instead left the internet divided over who is wrong. In a Reddit post shared on June 14, a user posted about his experience with his wife on the AmItheA***ole (AITA) community page, where people let the internet decide whether they are wrong or not. The Reddit user revealed that he and his wife were travelling to a city, and he arrived there a week earlier for work and was staying in an Airbnb. When his wife arrived later, they were supposed to shift to a hotel. So, he asked her to come to the hotel by herself, as taking an Uber to pick her up wouldn't be logical. 'She also knows the city well - we actually lived here for a year, a couple of years ago, so she's totally familiar with the airport and how to get around. I thought it made more logistical sense, but she was really upset when I suggested this. AITA for not picking her up from the airport?' he asked Reddit. Later, the man added that he had also been on business trips earlier, and his wife had never come to meet him at the airport, and he was always fine with it. Therefore, he thought it wasn't a big deal to her and scheduled a business meeting around her arrival time. Reddit users disagreed with the husband and stressed that he shouldn't have approached the situation with a practical mindset. 'NAH. You're thinking of practical logistics. She's thinking she wants to see her partner asap, and that they'd be excited to see her asap,' one user commented. Another commented, 'Neither is an a**hole, but making your spouse happy sometimes requires you to be much better than an a**hole.' A comment read, 'No one's the AH, but it's a nice gesture to meet your partner or loved one at the airport, and it shows you're excited to see them. It sounds like you're more of a practical person, and your wife sounds more romantic and sensitive.' Another said, 'Your wife's feelings are worth the extra Uber ride even if it seems unnecessary to you.' Some Reddit users supported the husband. One user wrote, 'If I have to take a taxi to meet a spouse whom I've been away from for one week, and she's coming to a place she used to live - nothing romantic about that at all. I find the wife is ridiculous.' Another commented, 'He arrived ONE week earlier - this level of emotional maintenance is not for me. I think the wife needs to grow up.' While romantic gestures are the mark of a flourishing relationship, the tug of war between practicality and emotional gestures can often lead to one or the other partner bearing the brunt of neglect. The husband's choice made logistical sense, but his wife and many Reddit users felt he overlooked the emotional value of a simple act—meeting a loved one at the airport. Neither side is entirely wrong; it's about differing expectations. Note to readers: This article is for informational purposes only and not a substitute for professional advice.

Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma live in separate rooms: Experts reveal what it really means for your relationship
Sleeping in one bed while snuggling under a blanket with your partner or sharing the same space with them is often considered a sign of a flourishing relationship. However, many couples are realising that taking a break from your significant other and creating a private space for yourself is a significant factor for a healthy relationship. In fact, celebrity couple, actor Aayush Sharma and his wife, Arpita Khan, also practice this lifestyle choice. Also Read | This married couple sleeps separately in bunk beds for healthy relationship: 'Sleeping apart works best' In a month-old interview with Farah Khan, posted on YouTube on April 25, Arpita and Aayush gave a home tour of their lavish residence. The actor also revealed that he and Arpita have separate rooms in the house. While he has a private room, Arpita and their son, Ahil, share a bedroom. So, what do experts and data have to say on this particular arrangement that is becoming quite popular among couples? Dr Tammy Nelson, sex and relationship expert, told HT Lifestyle that at first glance, separate bedrooms or beds may seem like a wedge in the relationship, but it can also be healthy. 'Sleeping apart doesn't mean you have to grow apart. Choosing separate beds or having separate bedrooms can be a healthy choice for both of you,' Dr Tammy explained. 'Sleeping separately might mean you get better sleep, feel less resentment toward the partner who snores or is an insomniac, and can reduce frustration in the middle of the night. Sleeping well on your own is not necessarily a sign of emotional disconnection; it might mean you are taking care of yourself. Rest is foundational to mental health, and well-rested partners may be capable of more positive communication, which could improve intimacy,' they further explained. Lately, the separate sleeping arrangement has led to a rise in the sleep divorce trend among couples. According to experts, 'sleep divorce' can improve sleep quality and emerge as a practical approach for couples who struggle with incompatible sleep patterns, disruptive habits, or differing schedules or sleep needs. Dr Chandni Tugnait, MD (Alternative Medicine), psychotherapist, life coach, told HT Lifestyle, 'Sleep divorce involves creating physical boundaries to prioritise individual sleep needs while maintaining the relationship. Sleeping apart was traditionally stigmatised and associated with marital issues or failing relationships. However, the stigma is slowly dissipating as more couples embrace the notion that quality sleep is essential for overall well-being.' Moreover, an American Academy of Sleep Medicine study from 2023 found 35 percent of 2,005 adults surveyed sleep in another room 'on occasion' or consistently to accommodate a bed partner – almost half (43 percent) of millennials do so. 20 percent of respondents reported sleeping in another room on occasion, while 15 percent said they did it consistently. A public education brief released by the Sleep Research Society said, 'Research indicates that up to 30 percent of an individual's sleep quality (or lack thereof) is influenced by their partner's sleep.' Goa doctors call off the State-wide strike and protest against State Health Minister
After a meeting held late in the evening on Tuesday (June 11, 2025), with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) said that they have unanimously decided to call off the impending statewide strike. Also Read | Rising trend of scapegoating doctors for administrative failures, says Maharashtra doctors' association GARD represents the unified voice of resident doctors across the State. Dr. Aayush Sharma, president of GARD, said that this decision was made in the paramount interest of public health and to prevent any disruption to patient care. 'We wish to reiterate that our commitment to our patients remains our foremost priority, contrary to any insinuations from third parties. We have chosen the path of dialogue and de-escalation to ensure that vital healthcare services for the Goan public continue uninterrupted,' Dr. Sharma said. At a meeting with the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dean Dr. Shivanand M. Bandekar, medical superintendent Dr. Rajesh T. Patil and members of GARD and doctors from GMCH, the Goa CM requested doctors to withdraw their strike and assured no repercussion or action will be false against any doctors due to the incident. In the meeting, the CM mentioned that a public apology has already been given by the Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane, in the regional and national news channels and that should suffice. However, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Rudresh Kurtikar, who was abused by the minister on June 7, insisted for a public apology at the same casualty ward. But later the doctors said that it was decided that such a demand cannot be made as a government officer cannot ask a minister to come over to his office and apologise. 'This is not about the minister in power abusing publicly to Dr. Kurtikar, but it is about the insult of the chair and the way government doctors are treated by the people in power,' the doctors' association said. During the meeting, the CM directed the Dean and Medical Superintendent for strict prohibition of videography and photography at the patient care area of the hospital and asked them to put up posters in the relevant areas. On the V.I.P. culture, the CM asked the doctors' association to explain to which, GARD president said, 'Threatening the doctors by giving references of political power will not be entertained.' The CM said, 'Even when I call to find out about the condition of a certain patient, it does not mean I am compromising the treatment of other serious patients. I advise treating all patients on a severity basis depending upon triaging.' The CM asked the Dean to enhance grievance redressal system at the hospital and constitute a disciplinary committee headed by the health secretary as a Chairman, Dean and Medical Superintendent as a member and head of the respective department as a fourth member to issue any complaints received for or against medical professionals. During the meeting, Dr. Reshmarani Salelkar requested the formation of a Staff Society for all consultants and staff of GMCH, which has been defunct for the last 15 years. The CM directed the Dean to consider the same. 'The CM assured us that no repercussions or action will be false against any doctors due to this particular incident. He also reviewed the security of medical professionals at the GMCH and assured them to strengthen the security. He agreed to the Dean's proposal to post armed police at various sensitive zones of GMCH and said he would depute 50 armed policemen with immediate effect. The CM directed the police department to post a PSI rank officer around the clock and advised them to share a common mobile number to attend all complaints from the medical professions in Goa,' Dr. Sharma said.
