Technology-driven farming emphasised
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya said that agriculture can be made profitable through the utilization of technical knowledge and modern machinery, and advised the farmers to utilise the support from the government. The Agriculture Department has organised an equipment distribution programme for the farmers at the Prakasam Bhavan on Wednesday. The collector participated in the programme as the chief guest and distributed drones, sprayers, plain and power weeders, and weed removal equipment to eligible farmers at subsidised rates. During 2024-25, agricultural equipment worth Rs 6.05 crore was provided to 1257 farmers in the district, with the government sanctioning Rs 2.75 crore as a subsidy. Speaking on the occasion, Ansariya said that agriculture has been given high priority in the Swarnandhra-2047 Vision Document plan. She informed that agriculture and its allied sectors have been identified as the main driving force for the district's development and measures are being taken to achieve a growth rate target of 15 percent. The Collector emphasised that farmers should observe new trends in agriculture and achieve better yields by utilising technical knowledge and machinery, thereby making cultivation profitable. She explained that the state government is providing subsidised machinery to individual farmers for their benefit. The collector said that the state government stands as a backbone to farmers by understanding their needs and ensuring an adequate supply of fertilizers and chemicals required for cultivation without any shortage.

Collector emphasises career awareness among students
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya stressed the importance of students gaining awareness about future employment and professional opportunities while still in their academic phase. She participated as a chief guest at a career guidance programme 'Ujjwala Bhavishyattu', jointly organised by the 'Route to Rise Thrive Foundation' and the District Child Resources Centre, held at the DRRM Municipal High School here on Tuesday. As part of the programme, the organisers arranged stalls from engineering, medical, finance, legal, Indian Navy, police, and railway departments. Students showed keen interest in various employment opportunities available in different sectors. Representatives from each field explained their respective career paths to the students during the event. A special attraction was the demonstration organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response Department, which displayed various equipment and tools used in emergency operations. Speaking at the programme, the collector advised the students to continuously observe the changes happening in society and urged them to excel not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities. The event also included sessions on personal hygiene and healthy eating habits to provide holistic guidance to students. Several key officials, including DMHO Dr Venkateswarlu, ICDS PD Suvarna, District Deputy Education Officer Chandramouleswar, DCPO Dinesh Kumar, Bangaru Balyam District Nodal Officer Giridhar Sharma, Route to Rise Thrive Foundation founder Rasheed, school headmaster Venkat Rao, and others, participated in the programme.

Prakasam collector releases‘Stop Diarrhoea' campaign poster
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya unveiled a wall poster related to the 'Stop Diarrhoea' campaign, which aims to raise awareness about diarrheal diseases and their prevention among children under five years of age, at the Spandana Hall in the Collectorate here on Monday. Speaking at the programme, the collector explained that diarrhoea is defined as loose, watery stools occurring three or more times in a single day among infants. She highlighted that children suffering from diarrheal diseases often experience symptoms including inability to breastfeed or reduced feeding, vomiting after every meal, frequent watery stools leading to dehydration, unconsciousness, and rapid breathing. She emphasised that diarrheal diseases can be prevented through several measures, including timely vaccination with rotavirus and measles vaccines for all children under five years, exclusive breastfeeding, providing supplementary nutritious food, administering Vitamin A syrup, and maintaining proper hand hygiene by washing hands with soap before meals and after using toilets. For children already affected by diarrhoea, the collector recommended the use of ORS solution and zinc tablets under medical supervision for children under five years of age as effective treatment measures. District Medical and Health Officer Dr Venkateswara Rao announced that all necessary medicines and saline for diarrhoea prevention are being made available at every urban and primary health centre. He mentioned the establishment of ORS and zinc corners at these facilities and directed that one ORS packet should be supplied to every household with children under five years. The DMHO instructed medical officers to conduct awareness camps on diarrhoea prevention in collaboration with all line departments within their health centre jurisdictions to prevent child mortality due to diarrheal diseases. He also mandated daily reporting of diarrhoea-related cases to the DIO email. The programme was attended by Joint Collector R Gopala Krishna, DRO Chinna Obulesu, Special Deputy Collectors Varakumar, Sridhar, Johnson, and other officials.

Baywatch Tower to enhance tourist safety at Pakala beach
Singarayakonda: Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, district collector A Thameem Ansariya, and SP AR Damodar inaugurated the new baywatch tower, which was constructed with funds of Rs 15 lakh, at Pakala Beach of Prakasam district on Sunday. The watch tower is designed to monitor safety aspects along the coastline, identify water current patterns, and enable immediate response during emergencies. Minister Swamy emphasised that measures have been taken to ensure every tourist returns home safely, noting that the baywatch tower will serve as an alert system for visitors. Acknowledging that several unfortunate incidents had occurred previously in the Singarayakonda and Pakala Beach areas, the minister said that the watch tower has been established to prevent such incidents from recurring. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts between police and coast guard personnel for enhanced coastal security and public awareness. Collector Ansariya described Pakala Beach as a prominent tourist destination in the district, stressing the importance of development programmes and special attention to tourist safety in such locations. She explained that the watch tower will provide real-time information about sea currents and wave intensity, enabling early detection of potential dangers and timely rescue operations. SP Damodar observed that following previous tragic incidents at popular tourist spots, they have implemented various security measures, including increased patrolling and picketing in beach areas, with the watch tower providing continuous updates on sea conditions to enable immediate police response. The SP also announced plans to strengthen the police system in coastal areas through enhanced CCTV surveillance, warning boards, and improved emergency response mechanisms. He advised tourists to exercise caution regarding their safety and ensure children remain under adult supervision at all times. The watch tower is equipped with modern technology, including CCTV cameras, a public addressing system, and a time clock announcement system. The SP specially commended Singarayakonda Circle Inspector CH Hajarataiah and SI Mahendra for their role in the construction and setup of the advanced technology systems.

Special beach yoga festival conducted
Singarayakonda: Socialwelfare minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, district collector A Thameem Ansariya, SP AR Damodar, and joint collector R Gopala Krishna and others participated in the special yoga festival at the Pakala beach near Singarayakonda on Sunday. Speaking at the special beach yoga festival conducted as part of the month-long Yogandhra-2025 campaign to commemorate the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, Minister Swamy emphasised that yoga is an integral part of Indian culture and should be practiced by everyone. The minister revealed that yoga programmes have been organised at four tourist destinations in the district as part of the Yogandhra campaign, and encouraged large-scale public participation in other places. The minister announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the main event to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 21st, and arrangements have been made to conduct yoga programmes at one lakh locations across the state on that day, with two crore people participating statewide. Additionally, 25,000 children will perform 125 Surya Namaskars as part of the celebrations, he added. Collector Thameem Ansariya highlighted that complete health can be achieved through daily yoga practice. She explained that 9.60 lakh people in the district have registered on the Yogandhra app to participate in the campaign, so far. She urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their lifestyle for a healthy life. SP Damodar stressed that everyone should practice yoga, which provides good health and mental stability. He said that yoga is not merely physical exercise but significantly contributes to mental peace and stress management, providing relief from stress and anxiety while ensuring mental and physical strength. Joint collector Gopala Krishna announced that yoga programmes will be conducted at 6758 locations, specifically in Prakasam district. He said that a large-scale yoga programme with Self Help Group members is planned for June 20th, and he encouraged everyone to participate in the International Yoga Day programme on June 21st to make it successful. The yoga sessions were conducted under the guidance of yoga guru Patanjali Bala Subrahmanyam, and several district-level officers, along with the public, participated.
