Free agent midfielder pictured in Real Madrid jersey
A big-name free agent midfielder was on Friday photographed donning the colours of La Liga giants Real Madrid. The player in question? Paul Pogba. Former France international Pogba is of course currently without a club. Advertisement This comes after the 32-year-old's contract terms with Italian heavyweights Juventus were terminated, owing to a failed doping test. Pogba has spent the months since working hard to maintain his fitness, with a view to returning to competitive football for the 2025/26 campaign. In his native France, AS Monaco, for one, are understood to be interested in the services of the former Manchester United man. As alluded to above, though, late this week, it is fans of another of European football's most recognisable clubs who have had their attentions piqued by Pogba. This comes after the gifted midfielder posed for a photo, since posted to social media, whilst wearing a Real Madrid jersey: Conor Laird – GSFN

Former Boston Celtics big man battling injury in France finals
While Daniel Theis ended up on a contending AS Monaco team that's in the French finals, he won't be able to contribute going forward. The former Celtics big man is out for the rest of the series due to a knee injury, per multiple reports. AS Monaco is down 1-0 in the best-of-five series to Paris Basketball in the top French league. So as AS Monaco looks to bounce back from a 94-82 loss, it'll have to do so without Theis, who had been a big part of the team. He's averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in EuroLeague play since being signed back in February. Advertisement Theis started the season on the Pelicans, where he played in 38 games (nine starts), averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. But the Pelicans elected to move him to the Thunder to avoid the luxury tax. Theis was then waived from Oklahoma City, making him a free agent. While Theis could've explored the NBA market after getting waived, he elected to sign overseas with the French squad. AS Monaco earned the No. 3 seed in the French playoffs before making it to the finals. While Theis could try to make an NBA comeback, for now, he's put a pause on that part of his career. Theis played for the Celtics in two different stints that also included an appearance in the 2022 NBA Finals. He also suited up for the Bulls, Rockets, Pacers and Clippers during his time in the NBA. While he saw his playing time slowly start to diminish stateside, he got an opportunity for a larger role overseas with AS Monaco. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.

Former Marseille boss leading candidate for Italy coaching vacancy
Former Olympique de Marseille manager Gennaro Gattuso is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Italy, with journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that an agreement could be reached in the coming days. The man who helped the Italians win the World Cup in 2006 over France recently left his role as manager of Croatian club Hadjuk Split earlier this month. In 2023-24 Gattuso served as manager of Marseille but was sacked after just five months on the job, winning nine of his 24 matches at the helm of the French side. Advertisement Former AS Monaco and FC Nantes coach Claudio Ranieri was approached to take over from Luciano Spalletti, who was dismissed earlier this month, but declined. Italy have three points from two group matches in 2026 World Cup qualifying, currently outside of the play-off positions. As a manager, Gattuso led Napoli to the Coppa Italia in 2019-20, winning that trophy once as a player along with two Serie A crowns and a pair of UEFA Champions League titles as well. Gattuso officially retired from the national team at the end of their 2010 World Cup campaign, with his side losing 3-2 to Slovakia and exiting in the group phase of that tournament for the first time since 1974. Ex-Juventus star Pogba in Monaco talks, Walker towards Fenerbahce after Milan
Former Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is in advanced negotiations to join AS Monaco, while Kyle Walker could go from Milan to Fenerbahce.
