This comes as a collaboration between AEW and CMLL, the popular lucha libre promotion based in Mexico. For AEW, this will mark their first company event to ever be held in the country of Mexico. The same remains the case for Will Ospreay, who has especially been eager to perform in Arena Mexico.
'I have been waiting for this moment for so long!!!' Ospreay wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following the announcement.
The Grand Slam television series began in Queens, New York in 2021. The city remained the sole destination for Grand Slam over the next three years. In February 2025, though, it branched out to the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, marking AEW's first ever show in the respective country. Now, Grand Slam will return to North America for its debut showing in Mexico.
