ACME Solar signs PPA with NHPC for 250 MW project in Rajasthan
By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on June 20, 2025, 14:58 IST ACME Solar Holdings Limited has signed a significant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Limited for a 250 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Rajasthan. The agreement spans 25 years and has been secured at a tariff of ₹4.56 per kWh, with a minimum annual Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 40% and a commitment to meet 90% of peak power demand for 4 hours each day. The project is designed to leverage a hybrid energy mix comprising solar, wind, and battery storage, and will be connected to an ISTS substation with existing connectivity. This development reinforces ACME Solar's strategic role in India's clean energy transition. With this addition, ACME Solar's PPA-signed capacity now stands at 5,130 MW, of which 2,826.2 MW is operational. The company also has a confirmed project pipeline of 1,840 MW for which Letters of Award have been received. Notably, 86% of its offtake agreements are with central government entities. The project has already received regulatory clearance from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), enhancing its implementation timeline certainty. ACME Solar commissions additional 19.8 MW at Shapar wind project
ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned an additional 19.8 MW of wind power capacity at its ongoing project in Shapar, Gujarat. This follows the earlier commissioning of 26.4 MW in May 2025, taking the total installed capacity at the site to 46.2 MW out of a planned 50 MW. The Shapar wind project, located in a high wind resource region of Gujarat, is being implemented under ACME Pokhran, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) of the company. The project is financed by Power Finance Corporation (PFC). Electricity generated from the project is being supplied under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). ACME Solar is executing the project using its in-house Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) capabilities. The wind energy generated is evacuated through a dedicated single-circuit 220 kV transmission line to the Shapar substation. A 33/220 kV pooling station is used to step up the voltage for grid integration. The substation will also support ACME's other upcoming wind project, currently in advanced stages of development. With this commissioning, ACME Solar's total operational capacity has increased to 2,826.2 MW. Full commissioning of the 50 MW Shapar wind project is expected in the coming days. For the full financial year (FY25), ACME Solar's net profit declined by around 64 per cent to Rs 250.8 crore, compared to Rs 697.7 crore in FY24. The sharp fall in profits came despite a strong rise in revenue. The company's revenue from operations in Q4 stood at Rs 486.88 crore, up from Rs 295.16 crore a year ago -- marking a YoY growth of nearly 65 per cent. Total income also increased significantly to Rs 539.2 crore in Q4 FY25, from Rs 318 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal -- showing a 69.56 per cent rise. Despite the decline in profits, the company highlighted strong operational progress.
