SHIRE is always a nice opening guess, if only because it makes me think about The Shire and the Hobbits and Gandalf and all that lovely stuff. It was a good opening guess today, leaving me with just 18 words. The trouble? I knew that all of them would be _RI_E basically—so where to go with Guess #2? I decided to try a word that included what I surmised were the three most common consonants remaining: B, P and T. BEPAT did the trick, though I had considered just guessing TRIPE to begin with. So close to getting this in two! Today's Wordle Bot The Bot and I both get two points today. 1 for guessing in three, 0 for tying and multiply that for 2XP Friday, bringing us to: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 5 points The word tripe comes from Old French tripe, which means 'guts' or 'entrails' though beyond that, linguists can only theorize that it stems from a Vulgar Latin root. It entered English in the 14th century and referred to the edible stomach lining of cows and other beasts. In the early 18th century, the word took on a slang meaning for 'nonsense'. Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. Whenever a Wordle is a past participle of another word, it's a bit trickier to solve. By and large, I'd say that nouns tend to be easier than other types of words. I started off okay with CHOIR, leaving me with 110 remaining solutions and just one green box. Unfortunately, SLATE only slashed that number to 13. WOODY finally got me down to just one: KNOWN for the win. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have gotten a better score! Today's Wordle Bot Feels like kind of a waste of 2XP Friday. Since the Bot and I both got it in four, we each get 0 points. Our April tallies remain: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 15 points Known comes from Old English cnāwan ('to know'), from Proto-Germanic knewaną, and earlier from Proto-Indo-European ǵneh₃- ('to know, perceive'). The 'k' was once pronounced but became silent in Middle English. Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Today's ‘Wordle' #1385 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, April 4th

How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Another Friday, another Wordle to solve. The work week is almost over and we have 2XP Friday—if, that is, you play Competitive Wordle against me, the Wordle Bot or a friend. Double your points, for good or ill, and best of luck to everyone! The weekend approaches. Let's solve this Wordle! The Hint: Whale food. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder . . . Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. I had a stellar March when it came to my Wordle performance vs the Wordle Bot, but April continues to be a lot trickier. I only had 106 words remaining after SLATE, but with just one yellow box I still didn't have the best idea of where to go. I tried all new letters with CHOIR and slashed that number to 5. From here, I realized I might have a lot of 'LL' words and I hoped to limit these with DIRTY and then GRIFT, which cut out words like DRILL, GRILL and FRILL and GIRLY. These were probably not great choices, but I was hoping I'd narrow it down faster. GRIFT, at least, left me with just one option: KRILL for the win! Today's Wordle Bot I get -1 point for guessing in five and -1 point for losing to the Bot. Double that for 2XP Friday is -4. Ouch. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and 1 point for beating me, for a total of 2 points after the 2XP bonus. This brings our April totals to: Erik: -5 points Wordle Bot: 4 points The word "krill" comes from the Norwegian word krill, meaning "small fry of fish" or "young fish." It was later adopted in English to refer specifically to the small, shrimp-like marine crustaceans that whales and other sea animals feed on. The term likely has older Germanic roots related to small or insignificant things. Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
