Patrick Soon-Shiong to Launch ‘Cancer Decoded' in Partnership With Mark Halperin's 2Way
Los Angeles Times owner and biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong is partnering with 2Way to launch 'Cancer Decoded,' to be co-hosted by the live video platform's editor-in-chief Mark Halperin, who left ABC in 2017 after multiple allegations at the height of the #MeToo movement. The show will run on Los Angeles Times Studios' streaming platform as well as 2Way's YouTube and X Channels, according to a Halperin Substack post. The first episode debuts Tuesday at 4:30 p.m and will focus on glioblastoma treatment with guest Simon Khagi, a neuro-oncologist in Orange County. The purpose of 'Cancer Decoded' is to 'create a space where science is made understandable, where patients and families feel supported and where we share conversations and perspectives with compassion, honesty and the belief that knowledge empowers healing,' Soon-Shiong said in a statement. Halperin, who rose to prominence at Time for his coverage of U.S. elections and political strategy, was political director at ABC in 2017 when multiple allegations of sexual misconduct emerged. 2Way is one of several efforts to re-enter the media landscape, a comeback that has been met with mixed reactions. 2Way launched in October and features shows such as 'The Morning Meeting,' which Halperin hosts with Sean Spicer and Dan Turrentine. Sean Spicer Predicts Karine Jean-Pierre Is Still ‘Team Biden' and New Book Will ‘Stick a Knife' in White House Colleagues
Sean Spicer, former press secretary to Donald Trump, reacted with skepticism on Wednesday about Karine Jean-Pierre's announcement that she is leaving the Democratic Party, considering it appears her upcoming book about Biden's last days in the White House will side with the former president. 'It sure sounds like she's going to stick a knife in the people who pushed Biden out,' Spicer said on a new episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show.' 'It sounds like she's still Team Biden, and we'll get a bunch of nonsense about how he could have [won the 2024 election].' Spicer cited publisher Hachette's press release that 'Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,' is about the 'betrayal' of Democratic Party leaders who convinced Biden to step down from the 2024 race and back Vice President Kamala Harris instead. Watch the full segment below: Kelly added, 'Color me curious about her insider details — less interested in her definition of what it means to be independent.' The one self-identified Democrat on Wednesday's 'Megyn Kelly' panel, Dan Turrentine, who co-hosts 'Morning Meeting' with Spicer on the 2Way platform, echoed Kelly's thoughts. 'I'll be curious about her angle,' Turrentine said. 'She had real tension with people inside the White House who didn't think she was qualified. There were concerns she struggled to respond without reading from the briefing book.' Spicer, who served as Trump's press secretary for only a few months in 2017 before going on to 'Dancing With the Stars,' argued that, 'Jean-Pierre was the most epically unqualified person to hold that position.' He added, 'No one in America wants her political analysis.' Jean-Pierre's book follows CNN anchor Jake Tapper's 'Original Sin,' about the alleged cover-up over Biden's cognitive decline. Spicer quipped, 'The pitch was probably: 'If Jake Tapper can sell a book, why can't I be independent? 'Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,' is scheduled to be released in October. CNN fires back after ex-Biden aide claims White House pressured network to blacklist him
CNN denied that the Biden administration controlled who it let on its network, after a former Biden aide claimed Wednesday that the White House tried to get him blacklisted from the network for criticizing the administration by putting pressure on CNN not to book him in 2024. "The White House pressured CNN not to ever have me on again," Michael LaRosa, a former aide to First Lady Jill Biden, said Wednesday on Mark Halperin's 2Way podcast Wednesday during a segment discussing how the media "covered up" for President Joe Biden's mental decline. LaRosa, who served as Jill Biden's press secretary from 2021 to 2022, explained how he was allegedly "punished" for being "outspoken" about his former employer after he left the White House in July 2022. "They punish reporters. They threatened access. I was booked 45 times in 2023 on CNN and the White House pressured CNN not to ever have me on again after the turn of the year… I've experienced this stuff now." Former Cnn Analyst Says Media Turned Blind Eye To Biden's Alleged Decline Because Most 'Vote For Democrats' "They threatened CNN with access, and I was noted in their guest tracking system. So, whenever someone wanted to book me, they would see a note or a flag... Look, I had never experienced the media like that until this election cycle," LaRosa continued. "And that's how my personal views about everything and the media and Democrats has somewhat shifted, and it cost me a lot of friends because I've been outspoken as I am." Read On The Fox News App A CNN spokesperson disputed LaRosa's comments in a statement to Fox News Digital. "The White House does not dictate our bookings," they said. Joe And Jill Biden To Run To Friendly Show For First Post-white House Interview. Yes, It's 'The View' A former Biden White House official also told Fox News Digital they were "not aware" of any effort to blacklist LaRosa. A Grabien search of LaRosa's name showed he appeared on the network at least four times in 2024: March 7, 2024, February 25, 2024, February 20, 2024, and February 9, 2024. The former aide frequently knocked the White House for "shielding" President Biden from the public during his 2024 presidential campaign. In March, LaRosa claimed that Biden staffers made "really unethical" demands of the press in an effort to "bully" reporters into covering Biden in a favorable manner. "They did bully a lot of journalists, and I think they would tell you that now. They wouldn't have told you at the time," he said to "The Young Turks" host Cenk Uygur. LaRosa said later on in the 2Way podcast that the Biden White House did not view the press as "an advocate or an ally." "Sometimes I think Democrats in general expect the press to work for them and when they aren't working for them they will come down on you pretty tough… But they never treated the press with anything but suspicion," he added.
