Nicole Kidman at 58: 8 incredible fashion moments stitched with confidence and elegance
The feminine force Nicole Kidman's appearance at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards marked a departure from typical red carpet glamour. She arrived in an oversized, tan-coloured power suit from Saint Laurent's Spring 2025 collection, complete with exaggerated shoulder pads and matching wide-leg trousers. The masculine silhouette was counterbalanced with feminine details: gold jewellery, soft wavy hair and black slingbacks, creating a fusion of power and femininity. The sensual bombshell At the 2025 Golden Globes, Nicole Kidman delivered her most sensual look yet in a custom Balenciaga Haute Couture creation. The one-shouldered gown featured iridescent silver, crystal-and-rhinestone-embroidered mesh with a dramatically low back achieved through near-invisible transparent netting. Completed with a voluminous, sky-high ponytail inspired by the '60s and Studio 54 glamour, this 'sex kitten' look made a powerful statement about age, sexuality and confidence in Hollywood. The avant-garde artist Nicole Kidman's arrival at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival was nothing short of striking. Her custom Loewe mermaid gown featured a handcrafted, sculptural bodice made of iridescent mother-of-pearl shell accents—a feat of artistry, with each shell shard carefully pieced together by hand. More than just a red carpet moment, it was a statement of intent: Kidman continues to embrace fashion as art, positioning herself as both icon and connoisseur. The ethereal heroine At the TIME 2025 Women of the Year Gala, Nicole Kidman embraced the emerging Boho 2.0 trend in a custom Chloé creation by creative director Chemena Kamali. The delicate, blush-hued silk gown featured an intricate lace-trimmed bodice and cascading tiers of ballerina-like tulle. The brilliant styling moment came when she later layered a black cropped jacket over the ethereal gown, creating a compelling visual narrative between romantic femininity and modern authority. The vintage vixen During promotion for her series Expats , Nicole Kidman demonstrated her ability to reference fashion's past without looking costume-y. Her retro Balmain ensemble featured a black bolero jacket over a top with rose-shaped buttons paired with a flouncy, high-waisted white mini skirt adorned with polka dots. The look expertly navigated the delicate line that polka dots present, avoiding childishness while landing squarely in elegant territory. Styled with classic black pumps and a chignon, it was a modern tribute to mid-century glamour. The modern minimalist Nicole Kidman's appearance at the Omega Her Time event in Paris proved her savvy understanding of influence. Her crisp white Valentino two-piece set—a boxy crop top and voluminous A-line midi skirt worth nearly US$6,000—was strategically paired with US$73 Charles & Keith slingback pumps featuring whimsical red rose-shaped heels. This high-low styling wasn't accidental but brilliantly calculated, creating a viral fashion moment that democratised glamour. The romantic lead For the Babygirl Los Angeles premiere, Nicole Kidman was abloom, wearing a custom Balenciaga Haute Couture strapless gown covered in pink and ivory organza petal flowers and cinched with a black bow belt. The unabashedly feminine look, which paid homage to Cristóbal Balenciaga's Spring 1964 collection, challenged conventional notions of what a seasoned actress should wear, proving her status as a true fashion provocateur. Netflix CEO Says Company Would Work with Karla Sofía Gascón Again After 'Emilia Pérez' Scandal: 'We Have Grace'
Karla Sofía Gascón is welcome at Netflix. Speaking with Variety for a cover story published Wednesday, March 19, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos says despite the 52-year-old actress' recent controversial Oscar campaign for Emilia Pérez and offensive remarks on social media, the company would consider working with Gascón in the future. "You have to have some grace when people make mistakes," Sarandos said in his cover profile. "And we have grace." As to whether the Mexico-set musical-thriller, which was directed by Jacques Audiard and starred Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña, would have taken home the Best Picture award had it not been for controversy surrounding Gascón, Sarandos can't say for sure. 'I hate that question, because it creates all of these 'What If's,'' the head of the streaming giant explained. 'It was the frontrunner, but it was never a slam dunk that Emilia Pérez — with all its innovation and thrills — would win Best Picture. It was a great movie, a great campaign, and I'm bummed." As Sarandos noted, Emilia Pérez was a strong awards season contender, including securing wins at the 2025 BAFTAs and 2025 Critics Choice Awards, and being the most-nominated film at the 97th Academy Awards. Gascón, who plays the titular role, is the first openly transgender star to be nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars. Following her historic nomination, Gascón came under fire for old social media posts criticizing Muslim culture, George Floyd, diversity and more. The Spanish actress deactivated her X account and and soon after gave several statements and interviews refuting accusations of racism. In an apologetic Feb. 6 Instagram post apparently in response to an interview where director Audiard condemned her words, Gascón wrote that she hoped her 'silence will allow the film to be appreciated for what it is, a beautiful ode to love and difference." "I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been hurt along the way," the actress added. When asked whether Netflix would change how it reviews the social media history of those featured in the company's projects, Sarandos explained they focus primarily on what if any controversies have made the news. 'What we're typically vetting for is mostly headlines. Did someone's social media stuff create headlines before? Then again, I'm not on Twitter, so I'm not going to come in and look at someone else's Twitter,' he told Variety. Gascón's costar Saldaña, 46, commented on the actress' social media controversy in January, saying 'I'm still processing everything that has transpired in the last couple of days, and I'm sad." "I don't have any tolerance for any negative rhetoric towards people of any group,' Saldaña added. Later, the Guardians of the Galaxy actress shared she was 'disappointed' in Gascón's actions, but still 'proud' of Emilia Pérez. 'I will always be a hopeful person,' the actress added. 'I was not raised to have any negative judgment towards people of any group in any community. While being that person, I can still stand by a body of work that I can be proud of.' 'It Ends with Us' Author Colleen Hoover Returns to Instagram Without Photos of Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively
Colleen Hoover has returned to Instagram after deactivating her account on Jan. 22. Along with her return, the It Ends with Us author's profile no longer features photos of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni — the stars of the film adaptation of the book. Her Feb. 12 comeback follows her decision to step back from the social media platform amid the current legal battle between Lively, 37, and Baldoni, 41. Lively starred as Lily Bloom, and Baldoni starred as her boyfriend, Ryle Kincaid, in the film that chronicles an abusive relationship. The movie, based on Hoover's best-selling 2016 novel and directed by Baldoni, hit theaters in August 2024. Related: A Complete Timeline of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's Feud (Including the Latest in their Legal Battle) Four months after the film's release, on Dec. 20, 2024, Lively filed a sexual-harassment complaint against Baldoni, in which she alleged that he engaged in misconduct during the film's production. Additionally, per her complaint, the A Simple Favor star met with Baldoni and several of the film's producers, alongside husband Ryan Reynolds as her representative, to establish protections before production resumed following two Hollywood strikes. The complaint alleged that after his production company agreed to the protections, Baldoni later hired crisis publicists to begin a retaliatory smear campaign against her. The day after Lively filed her complaint, Hoover posted a supportive Instagram Story. "@blakelively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met," Hoover wrote alongside a photo of herself and Lively hugging at a screening of the film. "Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt." Related: Justin Baldoni Admitted He's 'Not in the Best Place' After 'Intense' Year in Podcast Taped Before Blake Lively Court Filing Since the initial complaint, Baldoni has denied Lively's allegations. On Dec. 31, 2024, he filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times alleging libel, false light invasion of privacy, promissory fraud and breach of implied-in-fact contract regarding a Dec. 21 article from the outlet titled "'We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine." On Jan. 6, Lively's legal team told PEOPLE in a statement that her 'serious claims of sexual harassment and retaliation' are 'backed by concrete facts." The following day, Baldoni's attorney Bryan Freedman told PEOPLE on behalf of his client that they are "releasing all of the evidence which will show a pattern of bullying and threats to take over' the film. Baldoni countered Lively's initial claim with a $400 million lawsuit against her on Jan. 16, Reynolds and their publicist, claiming defamation, extortion and more. On Feb. 1, Baldoni's lawyer launched a website with what Freedman said was evidence of his client's accusations against Lively. The judge warned both parties to refrain from litigating the case in the public forum in pre-trial conference on Feb. 3. Their trial is scheduled to begin on March 9, 2026, a date set by Judge Lewis J. Liman. Read the original article on People
