Channel 10 unveils first look at The Project's replacement
Channel 10 has unveiled the first look at 10 News+, its new show which will air in place of The Project when it wraps up at end of the month after 16 years. The glossy promo, which Network 10 shared across social media and its main channels, features the program's two hosts, journalists Denham Hitchcock and Amelia Brace, reeling off their credentials to prospective new viewers in a bid to showcase the show's dedication to hard-hitting news. The pair, who both recently jumped ship from the troubled Seven Network, reveal they have 'been on the road' and 'travelled to every corner of the globe' while promising to deliver the 'truth first'. With the show less than two weeks away from launching, Channel 10 are ramping up the promotion in a bid to entice viewers to take a gamble with the new show. However, the exact format of the show still remains relatively unclear, despite the promo push from the network, which could be a critical error in their hopes of persuading viewers to switch over from the more familiar news bulletin offerings on Seven and Nine. It was confirmed last week that current affairs and entertainment panel program The Project was wrapping up at the end of this month after 16 years on air, with hosts Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris and Hamish Macdonald all leaving the network. Another of its departing regular panellists, comedian Sam Taunton, broke his silence on the show's axing during his latest stand-up routine, joking about his family's reaction to the news. 'It's just like everyone f**king knows you've lost your job and it's crazy,' said the comedian. 'My dad rang me and said: 'Look, if I'm honest, the show wasn't for me. I prefer real news.'' He continued: 'My girlfriend just sent me a Google Docs spreadsheet that said 'Chores now that Sam's unemployed.'' Taunton also revealed during his set that co-star Aly had warned him about the attention they would be receiving after the news was announced to the world that the show was coming to an end.'It's weird losing your job very publicly. Waleed, you might know that guy. He texted me on Wednesday and he goes, he goes, I'm so sorry, Sam. Get prepared. I just got papped by the paparazzi outside Chemist Warehouse near the studio.'

Channel Ten reveals fate of beloved game show Deal or No Deal after announcing new current affairs program in the wake of The Project being axed
Network 10 has finally unveiled its new current affairs show in the wake of The Project being axed. The premium news program, titled 10 News+, is set to hit screens on Monday, June 30, at 6pm on Channel 10 and 10Play. The show's lineup will include former 7News journalist Denham Hitchcock and Walkley Award-winner Amelia Brace, who will be regular faces during the 6pm bulletin from Sunday to Thursday. Following the announcement, viewers clamoured to the comments section to ask an important question about their favourite game show - Deal or No Deal. 'So you're bumping Deal or No Deal? As well as getting rid of The Project?' one concerned viewer asked. Deal or No Deal? first aired on the Seven Network from 2003 to 2013. Ten acquired the rights to revive the Australian version of the show in 2023 and it returned to air in 2024, hosted by Grant Denyer. Fans did not have to worry though, as Ten realised the error and quickly assured them that Deal or No Deal is not secretly getting the chop. It will be moving to the later 7pm timeslot instead. Meanwhile, 10 News+ will be broadcast across the country after Network 10's 5pm local news bulletins, offering a deeper analysis of some of the biggest stories of the day. 7News journalist Denham Hitchcock and Walkley Award-winner Amelia Brace, will be regular faces during the 6pm bulletin from Sunday to Thursday. Ursula Heger and Hugh Riminton will take the lead during the new Friday broadcast. The anchor team will be supported by reporters including Ashleigh Raper, Bill Hogan, Brianna Parkins, Samantha Butler, Carrie-Anne Greenbank, and Claudia Vrdoljak. Ten's Entertainment Editor Angela Bishop will also bring insight into the biggest stories in entertainment, including red-carpet events and exclusive interviews with Hollywood's elite.

Ten announces ‘in-depth news' show replacing The Project
Network Ten has revealed the name and lineup of the program that will replace The Project, effective June 30. 10 News+ will offer 'premium, in-depth news, current affairs and insights' the network has confirmed in a brief statement issued to the market on Wednesday. Martin White, vice president of news for Paramount Australia said: 'This is an exciting opportunity for our network news team. We're going to do what we do best — put the truth first, our audience first, and tell important stories well.' 'We've assembled a fantastic team, led by Denham and Amelia, and I can't wait for audiences to see their hard work. 'What we're doing with 10 NEWS+ is completely different to anything else in the market. We're giving you more — breaking exclusive stories and offering our own unique take on the biggest issues impacting Australians, across multiple platforms including 10, 10 Play and YouTube. 'At the heart of everything we do is delivering news and current affairs that matter to you. No filler. No opinion. Just the facts.' The program premiers on Monday, 30 June at 6pm and follows the network's 5pm local news bulletins. 10 NEWS+ will broadcast from Sunday to Friday. The program will be anchored by journalists Denham Hitchcock and Amelia Brace from Sunday to Thursday and national affairs editor Hugh Riminton and Ursula Heger on Fridays. Reporting on the program will be political editor Ashleigh Raper, Billy Hogan, Brianna Parkins, Samantha Butler, Carrie-Anne Greenbank, Claudia Vrdoljak and entertainment editor Angela Bishop. 'The program will offer a fresh perspective on critical local and global stories, tailored for an engaged audience seeking in-depth news coverage,' Ten said in a statement. Executive producer of the hour-long program is veteran producer Daniel Sutton.
