Rescue puppies bring pawsitive energy to yoga event
People gathered at K9 Classroom on Saturday to take part in a Puppy Yoga event that was organised by two animal lovers, Bonine Cronje and Barbara Roux in collaboration with Place a Pup, a non-profit organisation that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes puppies.
The event was serene and emotionally uplifting as participants rolled out their yoga mats in preparation.
They were given wireless headphones through which they listened to the yoga instructor's directions and calming background music.
The puppies ran around in excitement, stealing hearts and getting pats, pets, and hugs from the participants throughout the day.
People were left feeling more relaxed, emotionally lighter, and deeply connected – not just to the animals, but to themselves and the community around them.
To ensure the puppies' safety, volunteers from both Place a Pup and K9 Classroom monitored the pups throughout the session to ensure they were comfortable and free to explore at their own pace.
According to Barbara, the feedback from participants was amazing.
Many described the experience as soothing, unique, and joyful.
Other guests even expressed interest in adopting a puppy, which is one of the event's most meaningful outcomes.
'Place a Pup was recently given a notice to vacate the premises they rent,' Barbara says.
'Our next goal is to help them raise funds for a permanent home through their BackaBuddy campaign.'

Church hosts Education Sunday to honour graduates
SASOLBURG – Every year, the City of Love & Restoration – Full Gospel Church in Zamdela hosts a special service to honour its newly graduated congregants. Don't make slay queens your role models.' Delivering the keynote address, Dr Mhaule congratulated the graduates and emphasised that learning does not stop after matric. She encouraged young people to embrace education as a lifelong journey and to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset to help combat unemployment and contribute positively to their communities. The celebration concluded with a symbolic gift handover to the graduates by Professor Segalo, Bishop and Lady Bishop Mashiloane, and Dr Mhaule, a gesture recognising the graduates' hard work, resilience, and dedication. Klippies understands the assignment
Amuné van Rooyen, a grade 4 learner, received the champion award on Book 11. The sharp young mind fought a good battle there. The win made her school and her parents proud. 'When I heard my child's name, I was in tears and screaming with joy. I couldn't be more proud. She worked really hard,' said Nataska van Rooyen, the mother of Amuné. The mother explained with excitement, highlighting her daughter's love for the maths subject. A grade 1 learner, La-Rochelle Niemand, also made a name for herself and the school. The courageous young mind showcased her skills and determination and brought gold on Book 7. 'We are very proud of La-Rochelle. She loves her maths and has been doing A+ since she was three years old. This is her second year getting gold. Maths is something she loves, and that is never a bad thing. For me, it is nice to see how proud she is of herself because I know how hard she works,' said La-Rochelle Niemand, the mother of La-Rochelle. The parents of the two little Klippies expressed their kids' achievements with major excitement. The duo looks forward to what the future has in store for their young ones. They believe that what is major is yet to come, and they are wishing them well. The duo is proof that young minds are being made now. They made a name for the school as they were trusted to.
