Qobuz Connect Goes Live For The Hi-Res Music And Downloading Platform
The hi-res streaming and downloading service now has Qobuz Connect, a way of controlling everything ... More via the Qobuz app and streaming directly rather than via a smartphone using AirPlay or Google Cast.
For some years now, both Spotify and Tidal music streaming services have had a Connect mode. The mode enables users to stream music to their speakers or hi-fi with a direct connection using one app.
Both Spotify and Tidal Connect pull music directly from their servers instead of via a smartphone using AirPlay or Google Cast. The music streaming doesn't rely on a smartphone being present.
Now it's the turn of Qobuz to get the Connect treatment. The French high-resolution music streaming and download platform has announced today that users of a wide range of audio equipment can now access Qobuz Connect. Some of the big names that now support Qobuz Connect include Arcam, Denon, HEOS, Marantz, McIntosh, Rotel and WiiM.
The French streaming service is aimed at music lovers who want ultra-high-quality audio streams.
The new feature transforms the listening experience while offering simplified control and seamless continuity between devices. Qobuz Connect enables users to stream music directly using Qobuz to control their compatible hi-fi devices without the need for third-party applications.
With Qobuz Connect, users can control their music from the Qobuz application without the need to juggle between different remote controls or applications. All users need to do is select an audio device and then control everything directly from the Qobuz app with music streaming directly from the Qobuz servers without being relayed through a smartphone.
Qobuz Connect lets users pick up where they left off and seamlessly switch from one device to another without losing the thread of the music, whether using headphones, hi-fi or wireless speakers, without interruption.
With Qobuz, you can drill down deep into an artist's catalog and find lots of essays and features ... More about music.
With a single application to manage everything, users can control the desktop application using a mobile device and vice versa for a seamless listening experience. With Qobuz Connect there's no need to switch between apps and the user can enjoy the editorials and features that Qobuz produces to accompany the music and playlists are curated by experts
'Qobuz Connect is a feature that has been eagerly awaited by our subscribers. We are proud to offer the most complete Connect solution on the market today, combining high resolution, app synchronization and remote control. Our priority has been to develop a simple, intuitive interface to facilitate the experience of all our listeners,' says Axel Destagnol, Chief Product Officer at Qobuz.

The European Space Agency and Dassault Aviation paving the way for potential collaborations
PRESS RELEASE June 20, 2025 The European Space Agency and Dassault Aviation paving the way for potential collaborations ESA and Dassault Aviation have identified a mutual interest in developing a closer relationship to commonly foster technology development in areas such as LEO destinations and particularly around orbital vehicules. The European Space Agency (ESA) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Dassault Aviation, a French civilian and military aircraft manufacturer recognized worldwide for its excellence, underlying their common interest to develop a closer relationship. ESA, with its ambitious strategy for space exploration, Explore2040, is seeking innovative solutions for capabilities development to reach and return from Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Moon and Mars, and supports the advancement of selected critical enabling technologies to be used and demonstrated in particular in LEO, such as hypervelocity re-entry. Dassault Aviation, also a leader in aerospace engineering, is developing its space activities with a focus on the design of a reusable spaceplane based on lifting bodies shapes that bridge aeronautical and space technologies. Their interest in automated LEO platforms suitable for commercial and institutional markets, led them to develop a vehicle concept called ' Véhicule Orbital Réutilisable de Transport et d'Exploration (VORTEX) ', designed for research in space, transport of cargo to and from space stations, and a range of in-orbit services. This project is based on a considerable expertise in spaceplanes having participated in numerous programmes like Hermes, NASA X-38 Crew Rescue vehicle, ESA Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle (IXV) demonstrator, and Airborne Reusable Hypersonic Experimental Vehicle (VEHRA) concepts. ' Dassault Aviation's decades of expertise in aeronautical and space systems, perfectly position them to pioneer critical space technologies ', said Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency. ' With VORTEX, Dassault is contributing to strengthening European capacities and securing sovereign access to space in a strongly growing and competitive space sector. We look forward to combining our expertise and working hand-in-hand for a stronger Europe in space.' ' Our Vortex roadmap aims to strengthen Europe's essential sovereign capabilities and meet the new challenges of the space economy. This letter of intent is a perfect recognition of the complementary expertise of the European Space Agency and Dassault Aviation in the development of critical technologies and innovative space solutions, ' declared Eric Trappier, Chaiman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. As such, the signatories of the LoI, have identified a mutual interest in developing a closer relationship with the potential to commonly derisking critical technologies as well as to further explore the potential for collaboration in areas such as LEO destinations and particularly around orbital vehicules. As such, both foresee an interest to cooperate on a scaled down suborbital version of VORTEX, serving as a testbed, with a focus on, but not limited to: Designing, testing and qualifying key technologies and components. New materials and integration processes. Assessing the feasibility to include future payloads in case of the integration of a dedicated bay on the end-product. This joint work will be based on exchanging relevant information and conducting studies or preparatory activities, to help establish respective roles and responsibilities in the realisation of potential joint activities, leveraging on each side's capabilities. ' Europe benefits from a wide range of diverse and complementary skills. Enlarging the European industrial base is key for new opportunities arising in Space Exploration, aiming at more autonomy,' said Daniel Neuenschwander, Director of Human and Robotic Exploration at ESA. About the European Space Agency The European Space Agency (ESA) provides Europe's gateway to is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA has 23 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia are Associate Members. ESA has established formal cooperation with other four Member States of the EU. Canada takes part in some ESA programmes under a Cooperation Agreement. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, ESA can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. It is working in particular with the EU on advancing the Galileo and Copernicus programmes as well as with Eumetsat for the development of meteorological missions. Learn more about ESA at

Spotify just tipped to finally bring lossless audio to the masses — here's what we know
Several different sources have reportedly found code in Spotify's desktop app and web player hinting that lossless HD audio is coming to Spotify. The desktop app and web player code were spotted by Chris Messina (via TechCrunch) and Spicetify (via The Verge). Additionally, the latest beta for the iPhone version of the app was spotted by Aaron Perris and MacRumors. According to some lines found by Perris, Spotify's lossless audio will be 24-bit at 44.1 kHz. "Introducing the best sound quality on Spotify: for music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz." For the unfamiliar, lossless audio means that songs retain all the data from the original recordings, which generally results in higher quality. It's unclear from the code when Spotify might release lossless audio to subscribers, but it's been a long time coming and may cost you more money to access. Spotify users have been waiting at least four years for lossless audio. The music streamer first announced a new Hi-Fi tier featuring lossless audio in 2021. It appeared we were closer to finally getting the feature last year, with rumors of a new Spotify Deluxe subscriber tier and reports that it would cost $5 more than the existing premium subscription. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In February, a Bloomberg article claimed that the elusive Deluxe tier was finally coming this year with another new name — Music Pro, the fourth name in as many years after HiFi, Supremium and Deluxe. The report indicated that Spotify might charge up to $5.99 per month for HD audio, in addition to Spotify Premium. The lack of a high-end lossless HD audio tier has been baffling for years, especially as competitors like Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Tidal, which already offer lossless audio, often at a lower cost than the rumors suggest Spotify's price would be. Apple Music introduced its version of lossless audio back in 2021, around the same time Spotify announced its HiFi service.

Don't regulate us like radio, music streamer Spotify tells CRTC
OTTAWA — Music streamer Spotify says Canada's federal broadcast regulator shouldn't impose rules meant for radio on streaming services. Appearing before a CRTC hearing today, company representatives compared regulating Spotify like a radio station to treating Uber like a horse and buggy. In its written submission, Spotify argued the CRTC doesn't have the jurisdiction to extend rules governing commercial negotiations and disputes in the broadcast sector to online players. The CRTC is holding a hearing on market dynamics as part of its work to implement the Online Streaming Act, which updated broadcasting laws to capture online platforms. During previous hearings, large cable and broadcasting companies like Bell and Rogers called on the CRTC to loosen existing rules for traditional players. They're taking aim at regulations governing how cable channels must be packaged and disputes about carriage of cable channels. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 20, 2025.
