Akashvani to broadcast special programme featuring Mohanlal on June 8
Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Mohanlal visited Akashvani Thiruvananthapuram station on Saturday to record a special radio programme. The programme, featuring Mohanlal's cherished radio memories in Malayalam, will be broadcast on June 8.
He said that before the advent of television and the internet, Akashvani was the only source of entertainment for his generation. Praising the organisation for maintaining the pride and quality of its programming, he highlighted the credibility and uniqueness of its news broadcasts.
Mohanlal also recalled his childhood connection with Akashvani through programmes like Balalokam, Radio Ammavan and Yuva Vani, which made radio a familiar and endearing presence in his early years.
He also shared that he used to lend his voice to children's programmes and radio plays at the Thiruvananthapuram station during his school days.
As part of the special programme, the actor shared his 10 favourite songs for the 'Ishtaganam' segment. He also recalled his experience as the host of the national sports broadcast, marking yet another facet of his longstanding association with Akashvani.

We are considering a simultaneous release of Drishyam 3 in Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu: Jeethu Joseph
Director Jeethu Joseph and Aashirvad Cinemas have announced that the shooting of the much-awaited Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal , will begin in October. The production house made the announcement by sharing a reel that begins with a close-up shot of Mohanlal's character, George Kutty's eye, which is very striking in the first part of Drishyam. Speaking to us, Jeethu Joseph shared, "The script of the third film is nearing completion. There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story. Once I complete my script, it will be shared with the Hindi team, who will then adapt it to suit their setting and make suitable cultural changes." While there is buzz that both the films will be shot in parallel, the director said, "That's not something we can confirm now. The dates of the lead actors may not work out that way." While Mohanlal plays the lead in Malayalam, Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh headline the Hindi and Telugu versions, respectively. However, Jeethu adds, "There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously—not just the Malayalam and Hindi versions, but the Telugu one as well. In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in the other languages."

Furore as censor board blocks J.S.K's release
KOCHI: The Central Board of Film Certification's denial of certification to the film 'Janaki V/s State of Kerala' (J.S.K) has created a flutter in Kerala with Malayalam film representatives voicing their angst and the producer deciding to move court. The courtroom thriller, directed by Pravin Narayanan and starring Union Minister Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, is about the legal battle of a woman who goes through a traumatic event. The CBFC allegedly objected to the use of 'Janaki' – another name for Goddess Sita – as the name of the title character. Following this, the film's release, scheduled for June 27, has been postponed.

Censors block Union minister's film after objections to 'Janaki' in title
KOCHI: A censorship row has broken out after CBFC blocked the release of Malayalam film 'Janaki V/S State of Kerala', reportedly due to objections over the title character 'Janaki', another name of Goddess Sita. Starring Union minister Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran, the film was scheduled for release on June 27 but was denied screening clearance at the last minute. Directed by Pravin Narayanan, the courtroom drama centres around a lead named Janaki. He confirmed the film would not be released as planned. Film Employees Federation of Kerala general secretary B Unnikrishnan said the organisation would not hesitate to launch a protest against the CBFC's decision. "The story is about the legal fight carried out by an assaulted woman against the state. It is said (by the Board) that Goddess Sita's name cannot be given to the woman character who suffered assault," he said. (With agency inputs)
