Bajwa said Saini's very presence in Punjab was "a cruel reminder of BJP's anti-Punjab policies and its continued efforts to weaken the state's unity". Condemning Saini for his "repeated attacks on Punjab and its people ever since assuming power in Haryana", Bajwa, in a written statement, said, "The people of Punjab have not forgotten the tragedy in which Haryana Police fired upon peaceful farmers protesting for their legitimate rights.

The Congress leader also highlighted "the killing of 22-year-old farmer Shubhkaran Singh, who was shot by Haryana police while protesting at Khanauri (Punjab-Haryana border) in February 2024."
He said BJP, through leaders like Saini, made several attempts to snatch Punjab's waters, ignoring the legal, historical, and moral rights of Punjabis. "Such moves directly attack the livelihood of our farmers and the very backbone of Punjab's economy," he said. Accusing Saini of "politicising" the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) water-sharing issue, Bajwa stated, "Saini brazenly accused Punjab of denying Haryana even drinking water.

Himachal CM directs officials to serve notice against developers for delay in hydro project

He said that undue delay in the project execution are causing significant losses to the state exchequer. Hydro power is the mainstay in the state's economy and the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits reach to the people of the state. In a major decision, the state government has decided to take back 382 MW Sunni, 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and 66 MW Dhaulasidh projects previously allotted to SJVNL. He said that the state government will not move ahead on the upcoming projects like Kishau and Renuka Dam unless the neighbouring states provide to settle the long concrete assurances pending arrears of Bhakra Beas Management Board. During the meeting, the CM was informed that BBMB has identified 4,403 MW capacity of power on Bhakra Dam and 8,700 MW capacity on Kol Dam for establishing pump storage projects. He directed the department to take lead in this direction and move forward immediately so that the people of the state reap maximum benefits from these projects. Sukhu instructed the HPSEBL to complete the commissioning of Kaza solar power project by August, 2025 and to expedite the one MW solar power project with battery backup at Dhanwas in the remote Pangi valley of Chamba district. This project is expected to be completed by December, 2025, and will guarantee uninterrupted power supply to the 19 gram panchayats of the valley even during heavy snowfall. The chief minister also reviewed the progress of the 'green panchayat scheme' and directed to speed up the project.

Bhu Bharati Act brings overhaul: Telangana sees 10 lakh grievances; 3.27 lakh registered online
HYDERABAD: Revenue minister Ponguleti SrinivasReddy on Saturday said the Congress govt is overhauling the revenue administration, which had deteriorated during the BRS's decade-long rule. He said that the Bhu Bharati Act, aimed at providing lasting solutions to long-pending land disputes in Telangana, is being implemented with seriousness and has already brought a positive shift in the system. At a review meeting with senior officials on the successful completion of revenue meets (sadassulu) across the state, the minister said over 10 lakh land-related applications were received across three phases. Between June 3 and 20, revenue meets were held in 10,239 villages across 561 mandals, during which eight lakh more applications were received. In all, 10,725 sadassulu were conducted in 593 mandals, with 8.58 lakh applications submitted. 'In the first phase, held from April 17 to 30, around 12,000 applications were submitted through 72 sadassulu across four mandals. In the second phase, which began on May 5, over 46,000 applications were collected through 414 meetings in 28 mandals. Over 60% of those issues have been resolved, excluding sadabainama cases,' he said. Sadabainama refers to a land transaction, where land ownership is recorded only on paper. Khammam district received the highest number of applications at 67,000, followed by Bhadradri Kothagudem (61,000), Warangal (54,000), Jayashankar Bhupalpally (48,000), and Nalgonda (42,000). The minister said free application forms were distributed a day prior in villages, and special teams were deployed under the supervision of tahsildars. So far, 3.27 lakh applications have been registered online, and officials have been instructed to expedite the remaining cases.

Drop attempt to murder charge: Himachal leader of Opposition

He also demanded stern action against the main culprit of the incident. 'In a complaint filed by an ASI who was injured in the incident, he had mentioned that it were the people of Muslim community who instigated the violence and pelted the stones first,' Jai Ram said. 'While no action was taken against the accused boy, police arrested four individuals,' he added. 'Being a public representative several BJP leaders were also present during the situation, however, they were not present at the site where violence erupted; still they were booked under Section 109 of BNS,' said Jai Ram. 'The FIR is a result of political vendetta and it looks like the state government saw an opportunity to falsely implicate the top leaders of BJP,' he added.
