The Sonos Era 300 is $90 off in this home speaker sale

Engadget12-06-2025

A number of Sonos speakers are on sale right now at Sonos direct and Amazon. his includes the well-regarded Era 300 smart speaker, which is on sale for $359. This particular model is one of Sonos' newest, and it has rarely gone on sale in the past.
We enjoyed the Era 300 enough to give it a score of 80 in our review. It has excellent sound quality and offers a premium experience that far surpasses other products in the company's lineup, even the Era 100. This is also true when compared to rival speakers like Apple's HomePod.
It's simple to set up and offers the company's proprietary Trueplay tuning system. This feature optimizes the sound of the speaker to the unique acoustics of a room by leveraging an internal microphone. It measures how sound reflects off surfaces and adjusts the EQ to match. It's pretty nifty.
As for connectivity, it can pair with another Era 300 speaker for a true stereo experience. It also includes a Bluetooth receiver and line-in options. Of course, the speaker integrates with just about every streaming music service. The built-in mic also allows for voice assistant control, but only with Siri and Alexa. Google Assistant is left out of the party.
This speaker goes all-in on spatial audio, and the results are mixed. Sometimes it's sublime and sometimes it's kind of eh. This is more of a dig on the technology itself. It has serious potential but is still experiencing growing pains. The only real downside of this speaker is the exorbitant asking price, which has been slightly alleviated by this sale.
As previously mentioned, other Sonos products are available at a discount. This includes the Sonos Beam Gen 2 soundbar, which is 26 percent off at $369, and the Era 100, which is down to $179. These deals are also available via Sonos itself. There's also an ongoing sale on portable speakers that includes the Move 2 and the Roam 2.

Amazon Ditches Kia Trial and Goes Back to Gig Workers for Deliveries

Gig workers have got their gig back at U.S. tech giant Amazon (AMZN) after it ditched a two year long delivery experiment. Confident Investing Starts Here: Car Plan Scrapped Amazon has, according to Bloomberg, scrapped a trial where contract delivery firms in several US states deployed drivers for four- or five-hours shifts in boxy little Kia Corp. hatchback cars. Amazon hoped that the trial, which began to roll out in 2023 in Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Texas and Washington, would give it more control of deliveries and reduce its reliance on Flex drivers. These are people who use their own cars to deliver orders to customers' homes. These gig economy workers will now once again get behind the wheel. Reportedly owners of the participating Delivery Service Partners, as Amazon calls its contract delivery firms, were recently notified that the quick-delivery program will be winding down over the next few months. 'After more than a year of gathering feedback from customers, DSPs, and teams at Same-Day Delivery facilities, we've determined that the DSP model isn't currently the right fit for Same-Day Delivery and we'll be moving away from it,' Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly said. 'We appreciate the contributions from participating DSPs and their teams, and we'll provide support throughout this transition.' Speed Need Kelly said the affected DSPs can operate other Amazon routes. These DSPs lease blue Amazon Prime-branded vans and employ the drivers, who might deliver 200 or more packages a day. Flex drivers opt in via a smartphone app and typically deliver packages from Amazon's same-day delivery depots. (WMT) and Target (TGT). It recently announced plans to invest up to $4 billion to expand its rural delivery network by 2026. Is AMZN a Good Stock to Buy Now? On TipRanks, AMZN has a Strong Buy consensus based on 46 Buy and 1 Hold ratings. Its highest price target is $305. AMZN stock's consensus price target is $241.64 implying a 15.13% upside.

The mystery seller of a $105M empty lot next door to Jeff Bezos's estate has just been outed

The secretive investor behind a record-setting 'billionaire bunker' transaction in Miami is celebrating his success. The seller of an undeveloped parcel right next door to Jeff Bezos has been revealed as a man named Mikhail Peleg, according to a release. The German developer and investor snagged $105 million for the plot on Monday, marking a record property price for the ultra-exclusive Indian Creek Island. The identity of the buyer could not be determined, but paid in cash, Forbes reported. Peleg is married and lives in Switzerland with two daughters, Sophia and Maria. He purchased the roughly 2-acre strip of land in 2018 for $27.5 million. Peleg's initial plans to build were ultimately scrapped, agent Ilya Reznik previously told The Post. Peleg had high hopes for the man-made island when he snapped up his empty plot there seven years ago. 'When I purchased this property in 2018, it was the highest sale price on the market,' Peleg said in a statement shared with The Post. 'People told me I was overpaying, that it wasn't a smart investment. But I saw the long-term potential in both the land and the vision we had for the property.' The property at 9 Indian Creek Island Road listed for $200 million late last year. Besides the eye-watering price tag, the property made headlines for its proximity to Jeff Bezos's holdings there. The Amazon billionaire purchased two neighboring homes in 2023 for $68 million and $79 million, respectively. Occupying 200 feet of west-facing waterfront along Biscayne Bay, the parcel boasts views of downtown Miami and space enough for a deep-water megayacht to dock. The property underwent two price cuts during its tenure on the market, down to $150 million in March and $130 million in June, according to Zillow. Initial reports of the under-contract sale in early June quoted a $110 million sales price from a developer familiar with the deal, but the mystery buyer paid out $5 million less than expected. The deep-pocketed buyer, previously identified only as 'an international finance executive,' by the Wall Street Journal, closed on Monday for $105 million. The final sales price for the empty parcel is just $15 million shy of Miami's most expensive home sale, but certainly sets a new record for Indian Creek Island. The previous record was set by Bezos himself, who purchased an $87 million home on the other side of the island last year while the parcel's neighboring two homes underwent renovations. 'I believe that truly exclusive locations, even if expensive, always prove profitable,' Peleg said in his statement. Access to the island is heavily restricted. Its tony inhabitants, including Tom Brady, Carl Icahn, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, are secured by their own police force and a marine patrol. Just 41 homes currently occupy the island. Amazon's Powerful AWS Custom Chip To Get An Upgrade - Why Is It Important?

Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) Amazon Web Services could soon announce an update to its Graviton4 chip, sparking a rivalry with Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD). The chip could include 600 gigabits per second of network bandwidth, CNBC reported on Wednesday. Benzinga has reached out to Amazon for its comment. Hyperscalars like Amazon, Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT), Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) migrated towards custom chips to curtail costs, tackle compatibility issues, and address supply crises. Trending: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — According to Amazon, its latest cloud computing chip, Graviton4, offers significant advancements in performance and energy efficiency. It's the fourth generation of AWS's custom-engineered data center chips, first introduced in 2018. Graviton4, based on Arm-architecture, boasts four times the performance of Graviton1 and is even more energy-efficient than its predecessor, Graviton3. With 73 billion transistors, it's being adopted by major customers like SAP and Epic Games for high-performance and reliable cloud experiences. This innovation, alongside other custom AWS chips like Trainium and Inferentia for AI, underscores Amazon's leadership in cloud computing technology. Amazon manufactures Graviton4 central processing unit at its Annapurna Labs in Austin, Texas. Rami Sinno, director of engineering at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Annapurna Labs, cited strong demand for chips that outpaced the supply. AWS Senior Director Gadi Hutt told CNBC about Amazon's initiatives to provide an alternative to Nvidia Corp's (NASDAQ:NVDA) costly graphics processing units. Hutt told CNBC. that Anthropic's Claude Opus 4 AI model launched on Trainium2 GPUs and Project Rainier. Trainium3 is coming up in 2025, he has committed $8 billion to Anthropic. Also, Amazon chief Andy Jassy recently highlighted the company's extensive leveraging of Generative AI to drive value. Jassy highlighted Generative AI's crucial role within AWS for developers and optimizing internal functions such as fulfillment and customer service. He also pointed to developing AI agents to automate tasks and accelerate innovation. As Amazon commits huge spending and Capex to AI, it is imperative that it design its own chips based on custom needs rather than relying on NVIDIA. Jassy stated that this AI-driven transformation might reduce the corporate workforce in the coming years. Read Next: Invest early in CancerVax's breakthrough tech aiming to disrupt a $231B market.
