Bollywood-themed nightclub in KL mall raided

KUALA LUMPUR: A Bollywood-themed nightclub located in a run-down shopping mall along Jalan Munshi Abdullah was raided by police earlier today.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the raid, conducted by the Crime Investigation Division (D7) from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, involved six entertainment premises within the same building, where 95 individuals were inspected.
Eight people were arrested for offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid documents, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for working without a permit.
"The arrests involved seven men - three Bangladeshis, three Indians, and one Pakistani – as well as one Indonesian woman.
"All those arrested, aged between 28 and 43, were taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for further action," he said.
Harian Metro, which followed the raid codenamed Op Noda at 2am, found at least one Bollywood-style entertainment venue on each floor of the six-storey building.
The nightclub is believed to be a popular spot among tourists, locals, and workers from Bangladesh and India.
The premises employed women from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan as dancers dressed in saree to attract customers.
Malaysian women were also employed, reportedly earning RM200 per night.

Sexual predators were not just grooming children online, they were also found to have abducted their victims, recorded and sold such content. The authorities conducted large-scale operations code-named Op Pedo Bersepadu PDRM-MCMC, which led to the arrest of 13 suspects and seizure of 40,000 CSAM and pornographic content. In video journalism, NST received bronze in both the Best Video Documentary and Best Video Talk Show categories. The documentary was produced by Aliza Shah, Iylia Marsya Iskandar, Khairus Ramli, and Amalina Kamal, while the talk show was helmed by Siti Nur Amalina Kamal, Hazween Syarina Md Hassan, Farrah Ain Jasmine Jasman, and Shahrul Redzuan Zulkifli. The ceremony saw over a thousand guests from across the media industry, including editors, reporters and corporate representatives, gather to celebrate excellence in Malaysian journalism. Sri Lanka deports dozens of Chinese cybercrime suspects

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka deported 85 Chinese nationals today, months after they were detained on suspicion of carrying out cybercrimes against banks. The suspects were expelled for violating the terms of their tourist visas and fined around US$250 each. "They were arrested by police in October over allegations that they were carrying out online scams targeting international banks," a senior immigration official, told AFP. He said the group, including 13 women, was flown to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on a chartered SriLankan Airlines flight this morning accompanied by Sri Lankan police and Chinese security escorts. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan police said a court in the central Kandy district ordered the electronic devices seized from the group to be handed to Chinese authorities. Those deported were among around 230 Chinese men and women detained in October on cybercrime allegations, with the remainder awaiting legal proceedings. The Chinese embassy said at the time that Beijing's crackdown on cybercriminals at home may have pushed some to go abroad. Last year, police arrested another 200 suspects, mainly Indians, who were also accused of operating online financial scams.
