Christine McGuinness's 'pain' over married man - 'It's really upset her'

Daily Mirror09-06-2025

Christine McGuinness is said to be 'heartbroken' over rumours she exchanged 'flirty messages' with Dan Osborne, with the mum-of-three upset her personal life is yet again subject to scrutiny.
After claims last week that Christine McGuinness and Dan Osborne exchanged 'flirty' messages as they 'supported' one another amid their respective marital woes, a source now says mum-of-three Christine is 'heartbroken' that her personal life is yet again being put through the wringer.
The Sun has claimed there was a 'spark' between Christine and Dan, who are said to have been friends since 2019, but our source says that rumours of any romantic connection between the pair are simply not true.

'Christine and Dan both feel this has been blown out of proportion. Christine is heartbroken and in pain over the whole thing and can't believe it's being painted like this. They've been friends for years and have helped each other through tough times respectively, but that's literally all it is.'

Dan is thought to have recently patched things up with his wife, Jacqueline Jossa, after they publicly confirmed a brief split earlier this year – sharing loved-up snaps from holidays abroad and more recently at a wedding with friends.
The couple, who share two children, have been married since 2017, but their relationship has been quite a rollercoaster – including rumours of infidelity on Dan's part. And last week, their relationship was yet again thrust into the spotlight as a source claimed to The Sun that Dan, 33, had exchanged 'flirty messages' with Christine, 37.
'Their friendship goes as far back as 2019, when Jacqueline was heading down under to the I'm A Celeb jungle and they had a brilliant night out at a fundraising gala in London. They stayed in touch sporadically and would bump into each other at events and their messages got pretty flirty,' The Sun's source claimed.
They added, 'Some were seen by mutual friends. She would call him 'D' in texts and it became an open secret among their circles. There is no suggestion anything sexual happened, but it's fair to say that there was a spark between them.'
Christine split from her husband of 11 years, comedian and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness, back in 2023, with The Sun claiming she met Dan later that year at a London hotel – but that 'nothing sexual' happened between them.

While she may be enjoying single life, Christine is still living with ex-husband Paddy in their shared Cheshire home, having previously revealed that the dynamic works best for their children, 11-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and daughter Felicity, eight, who are all autistic, as is the former Pilgrimage star herself.
Opening up on how Paddy, who the model met back in 2007, is and always will be a part of her family, whom she 'loves', Christine said recently, 'I need a connection now – something different. I really, really, honestly, I love my family, and Patrick is part of my family and he always, always will be. But now for my next relationship, I want someone for me.'

The pair spend time in separate parts of their house, Christine revealed during an appearance on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, to ensure their children have 'continuity' while they are able to enjoy their own space. 'We have different wings. I always joke about [that] he is in the West Wing. We completely have our own spaces on the top floor of the house. I'm on the floor with the children and yeah, it works for us because we don't have to move the children.
'They've got that continuity and it's consistent. When they come home from school, they know where they're going to. They've got their own rooms, everything they need is in that house, and it doesn't matter too much whether it's Mummy at home or Daddy at home. With our schedules being all over the place, it doesn't affect them.'

Explaining their decision to not tell the children about the split, Christine said last year, 'The children are so young and they don't understand relationships yet. I think if they did, we would have absolutely said, 'Mummy and Daddy are really good friends and we're still family forever and we absolutely love you and that will never change.' But they don't know any different and there are times when they see us when we're in the house together and we're chatting away and having a laugh and a cup of tea.'
Christine was due to appear in the new series of Celebs Go Dating, which is set to air later this year, but she pulled out of the show after saying it was 'too soon' to be dating on a public platform and dealing with the attention that brings.
Now, our source claims that the reports surrounding Christine and Dan are exactly the kind of thing she was hoping to avoid by pulling out of the reality show. 'This is totally what Christine didn't want. It's the reason she pulled out of Celebs Go Dating. She didn't want the attention on her life or family and neither did Paddy. They want to protect their kids' privacy,' our source said.
With Dan and Jacqueline recently taking a trip abroad together to solidify their romance after their split, the source adds that Christine doesn't want to get in the way of her pal's marriage. 'Christine certainly doesn't want to look like she's had anything to do with a married man, or with any problems between Dan and Jacqueline She would never want to wade into someone else's relationship. It was only ever a friendship. Christine has a good heart and is really upset about all of this.'

Mum-of-two Sophie is divorced and Turner has a claim to be Britain's most eligible bachelor. The Sun first revealed how the pair had started dating in October 2023, following the breakdown of Sophie's marriage to American pop star Joe Jonas. Back when the pair split, a source said: 'Sophie and Peregrine had a great time together but the relationship ran its course. 'She is single and is focusing on her career and her two daughters.' Peregrine, heir of the 4th Viscount Cowdray, had been dating King Charles's goddaughter, model Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, before he started dating Sophie. They said: 'After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.' It took a dramatic turn a year later when Sophie sued Joe and accused him of the 'wrongful retention' of their two daughters. 4 Sophie was previously married to singer Joe Jonas Credit: Getty

Oscar Branning to return to EastEnders after eight years

Oscar Branning, the son of Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Tanya Cross (Jo Joyner), will be played by Pierre Moullier. The now 17-year-old Oscar was previously portrayed by Gabriel Miller-Williams, Neo Hall and Charlee Hall. Moullier's debut comes as on-screen father Max, played by Jake Wood, is also rumoured to return later in 2025. Moullier said: 'It's pretty surreal to join EastEnders – it keeps hitting me that I'm actually on Albert Square. 'When I found out I was joining the Brannings, it was so exciting as they are such an iconic family, and I love that there are so many skeletons in the closet. 'Oscar is so much fun to play, and the audience should be prepared for the unexpected as he's a complex guy.' Producers have kept the reason for his return secret, but say it will be revealed when his older sister, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), receives a mysterious call, with Oscar's return set to 'turn her life upside down'. EastEnders new executive producer Ben Wadey, said: 'I'm very excited to bring Oscar Branning back to Walford and introduce viewers to him now that he's all grown up. 'Oscar is very much a Branning which means there's going to be plenty of drama in store this summer. 'We're delighted to welcome Pierre as he takes on the role and can't wait for viewers to see him bring Oscar to life.' Oscar last appeared in the show when he visited Max on Father's Day in 2017, before returning to Exeter, where he lived with his mother. The character is expected to return to Albert Square next month, with Moullier already filming scenes for the show. Since The Sun announced the news about Jake's return to EastEnders back in May, many fans have took to social media to share their excitement, with some saying his upcoming Watford arrival is 'going to be epic'.

My marriage to Spencer Matthews nearly didn't happen admits Vogue Williams as she reveals secret dating tip for singles

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HER husband may raise money for charity and his brother is related to the Royal Family, but when it comes to the in-laws, Vogue Williams insists she is their favourite. The TV presenter married Spencer Matthews in 2018, and his brother James wed Princess Kate's younger sister Pippa Middleton the year before. 5 TV presenter Vogue Williams is a hit with her husband's family Credit: David Titlow - Commissioned by The Sun Fabulous magazine 5 Perfect match Vogue and Spencer on their wedding day in 2018 Credit: Instagram But in an exclusive interview, Vogue, 39, says: 'I am a firm favourite with my in-laws. I would say I'm even above the siblings.' Hers is a marriage that very nearly did not happen, though, because Vogue admits she once thought that Spencer, 36, was a 'sociopath'. He might now be a clean-living marathon runner, but in 2017, when they met on Channel 4 reality ski show The Jump, he was known for being a heavy-drinking party boy from Made In Chelsea. Vogue says: 'I kind of met him with a preconceived idea, and I was like, 'I'm not going to like him' because I thought he was a sociopath. 'But after I met him, I loved his personality straight away . . . he was so sound, but I was being really good at being single and I wanted to stay single, so I thought, 'He's going to be a really good friend' — that's the first thing I thought.' Fast forward eight years and the couple are now parents to Theodore, six, Gigi, four, and three-year-old Otto. 'I was feral' But in her new memoir, Big Mouth, Vogue reveals how life wasn't always easy for her growing up in County Dublin, with her parents Sandra and Freddie separating when she was five. And speaking to The Sun on Sunday, she explains how she found it tough when her own marriage to her first husband, Westlife star Brian McFadden, ended in divorce in 2017 — because she had never been single before. Vogue says: 'I was just kind of a relationship girl, and in a way I regret that. 'I was in a relationship from when I was 18 for six-and-a-half years, and then another relationship, and then after my first marriage ended, I made the conscious decision to try to be single because I'd never actually been on my own. Vogue Williams new book release 'I needed to be single. 'I absolutely hated it at the start, and then I loved it. 'I felt so in control of everything, and I was doing it on my own and I really enjoyed it. 'If you're a single girl in London, check out Battersea Park on a Saturday morning, and you can thank me later!' But Vogue admits she initially struggled to play the dating game. Laughing loudly, she says: 'I'm kind of a frigid. 'Before I met Spen, I'd meet someone nice and I'd kiss them, and I thought I'd be nice and invite them back to the party that was happening at my house. My parents were very strict, so we were always trying to find ways around that. Vogue Williams 'And we'd get back to the party, and they'd turn around to me and go, 'Will we go to your room?'. And I'd be like, 'Why? The party is here'. I never clicked that they were never coming back just for the party, but for other stuff.' However, Vogue's single days did not last long. She and Spencer tied the knot in June 2018 and she was firmly welcomed into the family fold by his multi-millionaire parents. Since then, Vogue has landed DJ gigs on Virgin Radio and Heart, and fronted segments on ITV's Lorraine and Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch. Meanwhile, Spencer is now sober, runs his own successful booze-free drinks brand, CleanCo, and last year ran 30 desert marathons in 30 days — all on sand. It set a new Guinness World Record and raised more than £500,000 for Global's Make Some Noise, which supports small charities across the UK. Between them, the power couple have more than two million followers on social media and their careers are going from strength to strength. 5 Vogue and Spencer in the Jordanian desert after Spencer's 30 marathons in 30 days last summer Credit: Jam Press 5 Pippa Middleton with Vogue and Spencer Credit: PA Vogue also reveals that her in-laws — landowner and entrepreneur David Matthews and his wife Jane — are role models who 'have been together for ever' and are still 'really happy'. She appears to have everything in life that could make her happy, too — but she says she has often struggled with the notoriously cut-throat showbiz world because she has never been 'cool'. Vogue explains: 'I think, in this industry in particular, there is nothing wrong if you are not in the cool gang. 'Let's say Kate Moss — she was in the cool gang back in the day, and I just feel I wouldn't have been, and I'm OK with that. 'Some people think that they are really cool and wouldn't give you the time of day. 'Sometimes they'd say hi to you at an event, and sometimes they wouldn't, and I've got to a point in my life where I really don't care if I'm not cool. 'I'm just grand where I am and I have got really good friends who are still in my life since I was 12, that I made when I was in secondary school, and they are actually what's most important in life. "My family are really amazing, and who I spend most of my time with. 'Spencer was raging' 'Then I come across people I love, and loads of people in the industry that I meet — they're sound. 'I was on Paloma Faith's podcast the other day and was really nervous because it's Paloma, but she was just fing hilarious and brilliant. 'She's pretty cool, so maybe I've got a foot in the door there!' Vogue has never fully left her Irish roots. For her book, she enjoyed reflecting on her life growing up. She says: 'I loved going back to my childhood and going back through all the things my sister Amber and I used to do. 'My parents were very strict, so we were always trying to find ways around that. 'There was a swamp around the corner that we always wanted to swim in, but we weren't allowed. 'We'd go to our friends' house up the road and their parents didn't give a crap what they did. 'So, we would go to their house and put their clothes on and swim in the swamp. 5 Vogue's in-laws David and Jane Matthews Credit: i-Images 'Then we would go back and put our own clothes on and act like nothing had happened. I was feral.' Soon, her own kids will be able to follow in her footsteps because she and Spencer are hoping to spend more time near her home town of Howth, Dublin, in a house the couple bought last year. Vogue calls it their 'forever home', and they have put their apartment overlooking the River Thames up for sale, too. They first listed it a year ago and have recently slashed the price by £1.3million to £3.9million. Vogue says: 'I like to take the kids home as much as I can — I want them to have friends in Ireland, so that they always want to go back, and they enjoy spending time there. 'I want them to know Irish phrases if they can. 'They got the free Irish passports, so they've got to work for it a little bit. 'They wouldn't give Spenny one and he was raging.' Chances are that Vogue made the decision to move because — even though she struggles to admit it — she likes being in control. She says: 'I think when it comes to wearing the trousers between Spen and I, it shifts. 'I don't think anyone wants to wear the trousers full-time, do they? 'I don't. My therapist did tell me I was controlling though, so I fing fired him!' But she admits: 'He was right — I do like controlling things.' It's clearly a quality that her in-laws admire.
