Tim Tszyu will fight for world title against Sebastian Fundora on Pacquiao card: 'We throw down'
Tim Tszyu will earn his shot at redemption in a world title rematch with Sebastian Fundora on a blockbuster card in Las Vegas featuring some of boxing's biggest names including the legendary Manny Pacquiao.
Tszyu will joust for the WBC super-welterweight belt on July 19, 16 months after relinquishing his world title strap to Fundora in an epic and bloody bout in Vegas.
'This one's the most important of my career. It gives you this burning fire. A rematch gives you the chance to rewrite your mistakes,' Tszyu said after losing a split decision last time after fighting mostly blinded after copping a Fundora elbow to the head late in the second round.
'From round three to maybe round 10, I wasn't in the right mindset. I lost my head a bit. But I adapted. Started figuring him out - just a bit too late. Now, I know what needs to be done.
'I've never made excuses and I won't start now. If you lose, you lose. If you win, you win. My plan? Hit him in the face as hard as I can.'
Asked about the stylistic match-up against the so-called Towering Inferno, Tszyu didn't shy away from what's to come.
'We both like to press. We bring the action. Fighting Fundora can't be technical. You've got to make it a war - and that's what this will be. A war.'
Tszyu said he was honoured to feature on a stacked card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena headlined by the return of the Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao.
The Filipino is seeking to win another world title at age 46 against rising Mexican-American star Mario Barrios.
'I was 15 when I saw Pacquiao vs Cotto at MGM. Manny gave me a fist bump and it made my day. Now I'm fighting on the same card. That's wild,' the Sydney slayer said.
'This is going to be the fight card of the year. Pitbull Cruz to start it, then me and Fundora - we don't throw 10 punches a round. We throw down.'
Fundora believes he and Tszyu will really put on a show in Las Vegas.
'I think this fight, no doubt, will steal the show, no matter what,' he said
'The first fight was a fight of the year. I'm going to say it, that was Fight of the Decade.
'You never see that much blood in boxing. And that's what people want to see besides a knockout.
'That's entertaining.

Disney CEO Bob Iger's dramatic move following LA protests that will be sure to infuriate Trump
Disney CEO Bob Iger is fighting Donald Trump through his women's soccer team, who have publicly protested the ICE raids on Los Angeles and the president's response to riots. Iger - along with his wife and dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Willow Bay - is the majority shareholder of Angel City FC, who represent Los Angeles in the National Women's Soccer League. Amid controversy over federal law enforcement's appearances at Dodger Stadium, Angel City have been publicly and vociferously in opposition to the president in moves that Deadline reports Iger backed and was 'thoroughly consulted on.' Ahead of their recent match against North Carolina Courage, the organization offered the first 10,000 fans - Angel City regularly leads NWSL in attendance and averaged 19,000 per match in 2024 - a t-shirt with the words 'Immigrant City FC' on the front and 'Los Angeles is for everyone' in English and Spanish. The team has also sold shirts on their website with proceeds going to Castro Immigration Services, who 'serve the immigrant community by providing quality legal counsel on immigration matters and connecting immigrant families to available resources.' Pirates RHP Dennis Santana suspended 4 games over fan interaction
June 20 - Major League Baseball gave Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dennis Santana a four-game suspension on Friday for "his aggressive conduct toward a fan" that saw him take a swing at someone heckling him from behind the bullpen. Santana's suspension was set to begin Friday, but the pitcher has elected to appeal the discipline. Santana's run-in with the fan took place during the second game of a doubleheader at the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. A Tigers spokesperson confirmed to news outlets that the fan was ejected from the park. Video of the incident posted to social media showed Santana leave his feet and take a swing at the fan who was standing over the railing. A Pirates coach ran in to guide Santana away from the stands. Speaking via an interpreter after the game, Santana explained that the fan "crossed the line too many times" but that it didn't justify his own actions. He declined to say what the fan did or said to him. "You guys know me and know my temper," Santana said. "I'm a calm person. They just crossed the line a few times. I would like to leave it like that." Santana later entered that game and faced one batter before a rain delay interrupted the game. Santana, 29, is in his first full season with Pittsburgh after the Pirates selected him off waivers from the New York Yankees in June 2024.
