Tapkeshwar Dham to get Kashi-style makeover: UP CM Yogi
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced that Tapkeshwar Dham in Sant Kabir Nagar district will be redeveloped on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. Addressing a public gathering at the site, the CM said preserving cultural heritage was central to the state's development agenda.
Tapkeshwar Dham is believed to be associated with Mata Kunti, a revered figure in Hindu mythology. The CM recalled visiting the site years ago and described the planned redevelopment as a way to revive religious tourism in the region.
Referring to past infrastructure challenges at Kashi Vishwanath temple, he said, 'The area now accommodates 5,000 visitors simultaneously, compared to earlier constraints when even 50 devotees struggled to gain entry.' He said the transformation of Kashi Vishwanath, Ayodhya Ram Temple, and Maa Vindhyavasini Temple reflected coordinated development efforts by the double-engine government.
He also announced that Sant Kabir Nagar district will be linked to the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, which is expected to boost connectivity and open new avenues of growth.
Later, the CM offered prayers at the Gorakhnath Temple.

Varanasi gears up for CZC meeting, final touches underway
1 2 Varanasi: With the Central Zonal Council (CZC) meeting scheduled for June 25, preparations have intensified in Varanasi. Beautification works are nearing completion, particularly along routes that will witness VIP movements beginning Monday evening. That evening, they will offer prayers at the Kaal Bhairav and Kashi Vishwanath temples before proceeding to the meeting venue at Hotel Taj in Nadesar on Tuesday morning. To ensure smooth movement and aesthetic appeal, authorities are focusing on key areas including the stretch from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport to Hotel Taj and the roads leading to both temples. Thematic display boards are being installed along the Varuna bridge, while road dividers are being freshly painted. Work on enhancing street lighting and greenery is also nearing completion, with multiple agencies working in coordination. On the security front, Commissioner Agrawal said a multi-layered deployment plan has been finalised. Security personnel will be stationed at the venue and across the VIP routes. Measures include rooftop surveillance, deployment of officers in plain clothes, drone monitoring, and route diversions. Traffic diversions will remain in effect from Monday evening until the dignitaries' departure on Tuesday. CM Yogi during his visit to the venue on June 16, had reviewed the arrangements and instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of all pending work. With issues from multiple departments expected to be discussed, senior officials from Union ministries and departments of the four participating states have already started arriving in the city.

Nalanda University adds 4 new PG courses, V-C says reinforcing its role as centre of high learning
Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi has announced four new postgraduate courses in economics, hindi, mathematics and philosophy, taking the total PG programmes to 12. Chaturvedi, who is also the Director General of Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), joined as the university's V-C last month. He said, 'Expansion of courses are meant to expand academic scope and reinforce NU's role as a premier centre of research and high learning.' The new courses are in consonance with the blended vision of ancient and new Nalanda universities to focus on mathematics and philosophy. Meanwhile, Hindi has been added as part of the Central government's thrust to promote mother tongue, and economics is added as per the V-C's vision. 'The spirit of Nalanda has evolved as a vibrant expression of continuous engagement with eternal values and the civilisational ethos of the east. It embodies a rich intellectual tradition, marked by openness, inclusivity and a globally oriented outlook. Building upon this legacy, the vision for the new Nalanda is shaped by a forward-looking blueprint rooted in integrative wisdom. DU issues apology over UG admission form error
Delhi University (DU) issued an apology on Saturday regarding an 'inadvertent error' in its undergraduate admission form earlier this week, where names of communities and religions appeared in the language section, drawing criticism from teachers who termed it 'insensitive' and 'embarrassing'. Teachers who were critical of the move pointed out that Urdu had not been included in the UG admissions form, but 'Muslim', 'Hindu', and 'Bihari' were listed under the languages section. DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said that as soon as the issue was brought to the administration's notice, the option on the online portal was disabled. In a statement, DU said, 'The university sincerely regrets the inadvertent error. We acknowledge your concerns and are committed to addressing them. However, attributing ulterior motives to this entirely unintentional oversight is unwarranted. We request all not to vitiate the university's diverse environment.'
