Chilling new information emerges in Anne Burrell death investigation
An investigation into Anne Burrell's shock death has taken a dramatic twist after new information emerged about the scene where the chef was found on Tuesday.
The beloved Food Network star died aged 55 at her home in Brooklyn, New York.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ a large quantity of 'unknown pills' were found around where Anne died, while a separate source told The Post the pill quantity was in the 'dozens'.
Insiders previously revealed Anne was found unresponsive on the shower floor by her husband, Stuart Claxton, early on Tuesday morning.
He reportedly last saw his wife alive at around 1am the night before discovering her unconscious in their bathroom.
DailyMail.com contacted representatives for Food Network and Anne for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Stuart contacted 911 and was allegedly advised by the operator to perform CPR on Anne.
However, her body was said to be cold and it is not known if he performed CPR.
A possible cause of death has now been indicated by the 911 call, with the New York Fire Department confirming to Daily Mail that they were responding to a report of a cardiac arrest at 7.50am on Tuesday.
In a statement to Daily Mail, the New York City Police Department confirmed that they were called to an address in Brooklyn in response to a report about an 'unconscious and unresponsive' 55-year-old female.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not yet been reported by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, with an investigation ongoing.
TMZ reports that EMS attempted CPR on Anne but could not resuscitate her.
'Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend - her smile lit up every room she entered,' her family said in a statement obtained by DailyMail.com Tuesday.
'Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.'
A Food Network spokesperson added: 'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent - teaching, competing, and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.
'Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends, and fans during this time of tremendous loss.'
Heartbroken fans flooded the comments of her most recent Instagram post, with one writing: 'This can't be true. Chef Anne you were vivacious, hilarious, full of life and reminded me of my Mom. I'm so, so sorry. Rest with the Angels in Heaven and cook up a storm for us.'
Another said: 'Prayers for your family. This feels so unexpected!'
A third added: 'You were always one of our all time favorite chefs and seemed like a great person! I'm sure you'll be missed by many!'
'RIP ANNE! I can't believe this! We lost a good one,' a fourth wrote.
Gigi Hadid, who famously appeared on the cooking competition series Beat Bobby Flay with Burrell, led the celebrities expressing their heartbreak over Anne's death.
'I am heartbroken to hear of the loss of the Great Anne Burrell,' the model, 30, began.
She included a photo of herself and Anne from their time filming Beat Bobby Flay back in 2023.
'As a longtime fan, getting to share this day with her was a dream come true. Beat Bobby. Hang. Eat,' she recalled.
'I wish we could have done it again. She was awesome. Rest in Peace Legend.'
Chef Carla Hall, who previously appeared on Food Network's Top Chef, called Anne an 'incredible cook and teacher'.
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy star Carson Kressley, who was a close friend of Anne's, revealed that he spoke to her just days before her death.
He also shared a post to his own Instagram page which included a photo of him and Burrell.
'Rest easy, Chef Anne. I'm so blessed I was able to work with you, learn from you, laugh with you. So many memories - on screen and off - I cherish this photo of us living our best lives, as the kids say,' Kressley wrote.
'It's one of my favorite memories - just swimming in the ocean after a great lunch. Good food, good friends and lots of love and laughter all around.
'That's what I wish for you where you are now . I'll see you again someday, dear friend.'
Her co-star and friend, Melba Wilson, also paid tribute to her.
She told TMZ: 'Anne never mentioned anything about being sick. That's why this is such a shock to us. She was healthy. She was vibrant. She was beautiful.
'If you saw Anne, Anne could light up any room she walked into. So to know that she went to sleep and just didn't wake up is heartbreaking.
'Fifty five, this is not supposed to happen to a healthy 55-year-old. It's unbelievable to know that someone so vibrant and full of life is no longer with us.'
And Bobby also paid tribute to Anne, writing: 'Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside for the Anne Burrell ride.
'The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)… a gift that I'll have forever,' he said in reference to his pet cat Nacho.

Love Island viewers left bemused after Toni and Emily viciously clash for 'no reason' in foul-mouthed scenes and ask: 'Did I miss something?'
Love Island viewers were left bemused after bombshells Toni Laites and Emily Moran clashed 'for no reason' in foul-mouthed scenes on Friday. Earlier in the episode American Toni, 24, expressed her dislike for Emily, also 24, slamming the Welsh insurance worker as 'Little Miss Sunshine'. Later coming face-to face in a tense exchange, Toni said she was 'done' before screaming at her fellow islander to 'get the f*** out of her face' and storming off. Taking to X fans were confused by the sudden tension between the pair and convinced bosses had accidentally left footage on the cutting room floor which would explain the animosity. They wrote: 'Okay so this whole thing between Toni and Emily reads that somethings happened and we haven't got the full story': 'I forgot Emily was even on Love Island, what is happening off camera for Toni to clock her like that OMG'. 'I like Toni but I genially don't see what Emily did wrong? Maybe they didn't edit it in the scene?: 'I don't know what happened but pretty sure Toni is right': 'What happened with Toni and Emily anyway?'. It comes after Love Island fans shared what might be the most outrageous conspiracy theory in the show's history. Viewers of the ITV2 dating show have claimed that one of the Islanders is an ' AI bot' and was suffering a string of 'glitchy' moments while in the iconic villa. The sexy singleton in question is none other than Yasmin Pettet, 24. The commercial banking executive, who is currently coupled up with Shea Mannings, 25, entered the villa alongside Emily and Malisha Jordan, 24, earlier this week and has certainly ruffled a few feathers amongst the cast. She has gone after 25-year-old Megan Moore's man Dejon Noel Williams, 26, and also laid it on thick with 29-year-old Helena Ford's beau Harry Cooksley, 30. But her perfect posture while chatting with her co-stars and standing by the firepit has raised a few eyebrows. One fan took to TikTok to share the bizarre theory with a selection of clips and the caption: 'Guys I'm scared... I think she's AI.' Meanwhile others have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the same thing. Taking to X fans were confused by the sudden tension between the pair and convinced bosses had accidentally left footage on the cutting room floor which would explain the animosity 'Yas is actually AI.' 'This Yas girl gotta be AI.' 'I saw someone say Yasmin is AI and bro she is literally not real.' 'Yasmin is the certified first Love island AI icon #Loveisland #loveislanduk.' 'Are we sure Yasmin isn't AI robot? #LoveIsland.' Another said on Instagram: 'AI Yasmin, we needed her.' Yasmin has been bringing the drama this season - and fans are loving it. The beauty left Dejon shocked when she asked if he'd consider a threesome with her and Toni. She's also not been afraid to get to know other guys - including Harry. The pair snogged during last night's episode, leaving his girl Helena fuming, as well as her man Shea. During a recent challenge Yasmin kissed two other boys during the course of the game. Disney CEO Bob Iger's dramatic move following LA protests that will be sure to infuriate Trump
Disney CEO Bob Iger is fighting Donald Trump through his women's soccer team, who have publicly protested the ICE raids on Los Angeles and the president's response to riots. Iger - along with his wife and dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Willow Bay - is the majority shareholder of Angel City FC, who represent Los Angeles in the National Women's Soccer League. Amid controversy over federal law enforcement's appearances at Dodger Stadium, Angel City have been publicly and vociferously in opposition to the president in moves that Deadline reports Iger backed and was 'thoroughly consulted on.' Ahead of their recent match against North Carolina Courage, the organization offered the first 10,000 fans - Angel City regularly leads NWSL in attendance and averaged 19,000 per match in 2024 - a t-shirt with the words 'Immigrant City FC' on the front and 'Los Angeles is for everyone' in English and Spanish. The team has also sold shirts on their website with proceeds going to Castro Immigration Services, who 'serve the immigrant community by providing quality legal counsel on immigration matters and connecting immigrant families to available resources.' Aside from Iger, the club has several liberal celebrities with minority shares, including Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain and America Ferrara, putting several famous and powerful people at loggerheads with Trump. Angel City FC - along with MLS side LAFC, with whom they share a stadium - have issued statements of support for immigrants but otherwise the city's sports franchises have refrained from commenting. Iger and Bay have made no public statement on the protests, however it appears he not only signed off on it but was briefed on the move every step of the way. Iger - along with his wife and dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Willow Bay - is the majority shareholder of Angel City FC, who represent Los Angeles in the National Women's Soccer League, who gave out these pro-immigrant t-shirts at a recent match has reached out to the White House for comment. It comes as Iger's day job at Disney has tried to make nice with the second Trump administration on multiple big occasions. Most recently, ABC News has fired star anchor Terry Moran just days after he penned a social media post calling Donald Trump a 'world class hater' and blasting top advisor Stephen Miller as full of 'bile.' A spokesperson for the network confirmed the firing in a statement on Tuesday that specifically cited Moran's post as a 'clear violation' of ABC's policy. 'We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post – which was a clear violation of ABC News policies – we have made the decision to not renew,' the statement read. 'At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,' the rep added. Moran, 65, was a senior national correspondent at the network. He previously served as ABC's Chief Foreign Correspondent from 2013 to 2018. In May, it was reported ABC News and its parent company Disney have asked the ladies of The View to dial back their constant complaining about President Donald Trump. Ahead of their recent match against North Carolina Courage, the organization offered the first 10,000 fans - Angel City regularly leads NWSL in attendance and averaged 19,000 per match in 2024 - a t-shirt with the words 'Immigrant City FC' on the front and 'Los Angeles is for everyone' in English and Spanish ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic and Iger made the requests separately, The Daily Beast reported. The daily talk show has been filled with criticisms of the commander-in-chief and his policies, with mostly kind words for Democrats. Iger reportedly expressed his support for the show but made clear it needed to pull back on politics. Prior to that, Moran co-anchored the network's newsmagazine Nightline for eight years. He was ABC News' Chief White Correspondent from 1999 to 2005. Earlier this year, the network paid President Donald Trump a $16 million settlement over his remarks about the president. Stephanopoulos erroneously claimed on-air that the president-elect was found 'liable for rape' - rather than the correct phrasing of sexual abuse - against writer E. Jean Carroll in March. Trump sued Stephanopoulos and the network for defamation soon after the segment aired, accusing the anchor of making the statements with 'malice' and a disregard for the truth. As part of the settlement, Stephanopoulos was forced to issue a public apology. Angel City FC - along with MLS side LAFC, with whom they share a stadium - have issued statements of support for immigrants but otherwise the city's sports franchises have refrained from commenting In 2023, Iger revealed the company will 'quiet the noise' around cultural issues because it has shown to be bad for business. Iger wants to make content that is entertaining, not issue-focused - after The House of Mouse faced backlash over pushing a ' woke agenda'. His comments about focusing on entertainment rather than 'issues' came after a spate of recent box office busts. Among these was the live-action version of The Little Mermaid, Guardians of the Galaxy, Strange World and Lightyear. The Little Mermaid sparked controversy over the casting of Black actress Halle Bailey as the title character, Ariel. Lightyear, released one year ago with a reported budget of $200 million, brought in a modest $226.7 million in worldwide ticket sales. The film could not be shown in 14 Middle Eastern and Asian countries because of its depiction of a same-sex relationship. Since the company has been faced with loss from the Disney+ streaming business, which is expected to become profitable only next year, they have turned to the parks business to soften the blow.

JD Vance travels to Los Angeles to scold Gavin Newsom for 'egging on' violent riots
Vice President JD Vance traveled to Los Angeles on Friday, setting up a showdown with Gov. Gavin Newsom as he visited deployed Marines in the city. The vice president traveled to a multiagency Federal Joint Operations Center and a Federal Mobile Command Center to visit with federal law officials and thank them for their efforts to protect the city. He defended the president's decision to send in federal troops to help local law enforcement combat rioters in the city. He described the series of events surrounding the riots a 'tragedy' and said that the rioters were 'egged on' by Newsom and the Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. 'That is disgraceful,' he said, adding, 'We've got to enforce our borders and get so many of these criminals out of our country to begin with.' He said that Trump acted because Newsom refused to take the riots seriously. 'If you enforce your own laws and if you protect federal law enforcement, we're not going to send in the national guard because it's unnecessary,' he said. 'But if you let violent rioters burn great American cities to the ground, then of course we're going to send in federal law enforcement to protect the people the president was elected to protect.' Vance said he was grateful to federal law enforcement officials citing the 'good news' that the rioting had slowed down, but said it was still necessary to keep them on duty in case the riots flared back up. The vice president criticized both Bass and Newsom for encouraging a 'crisis' by extending government benefits to illegal immigrants and straining the local public services. He also criticized both leaders for inciting violent riots in response to the president's deportation orders and endangering local law enforcement officials. 'I think it's disgraceful that we've ever gotten to this point,' Vance added. The vice president also ridiculed Sen. Jose Padilla for causing a scene at a press conference with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem last, leading her bodyguards to wrestle him to the ground and handcuff him. 'Well I was hoping Jose Padilla would be here to ask a question but unfortunately I guess he decided not to show up because there wasn't a theater,' he said when asked to respond to the incident. 'I think we ought to laugh them out of the building, we ought to call them out for doing what they are doing which is grandstanding.' President Donald Trump deployed 700 U.S. Marines to the city after protesters rioted in response to increased ICE raids and deportations of illegal immigrants. Vance's visit takes place after Newsom, who is considering a 2028 Ron for president, loudly protested the deployment of military forces to help quell the riots. Newsom warned that 'democracy was under assault,' because the president ignored his plea to deescalate the riots and protests. He described the deployment of federal troops and Marines unnecessary and illegal, filing a lawsuit to contest the president's deployment. Vance's trip takes place just after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled Thursday in favor of the president's authority to deploy military forces. 'The undisputed facts demonstrate that before the deployment of the National Guard, protesters 'pinned down' several federal officers and threw 'concrete chunks, bottles of liquid, and other objects' at the officers,' the court's decision read. 'Protesters also damaged federal buildings and caused the closure of at least one federal building. And a federal van was attacked by protesters who smashed in the van's windows. The federal government's interest in preventing incidents like these is significant.' The Marines were tasked with protecting federal buildings. Last week they detained a man for walking onto the property of a Los Angeles federal building but he was released without charges.
