Eurovision Song Contest 2025: All the highlights from this year's grand final

Welcome to our live coverage of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest final.
The 69th annual international competition is taking place in Basel, Switzerland today, with the grand finale broadcast kicking off on SBS at 5am.
Unfortunately for Australians, our representative Go-Jo was shockingly booted in the second semi-final despite his song Milkshake Man being wildly popular among the fan community and 900-strong media contingent.
It was the second consecutive year we didn't qualify for the grand final, following Electric Fields in Malmo, Sweden in 2024 – Montaigne also didn't make it in 2022, forced to send a video entry to Rotterdam because of pandemic travel restrictions.
Perhaps the novelty of our inclusion in the European singing Olympics has worn off in our 10th year at the contest.
In the wake of Australia not securing the vital fan and jury votes to advance to the 2025 grand final, SBS will be seriously considering our ongoing participation at Eurovision.
Sweden's KAJ and their entry Bara Bada Bastu, an offbeat tribute to Nordic sauna culture, remains the song to beat in Basel.
Should the Swedish representative, who are actually from Finland, win this year, they would overtake Ireland as the country with the most titles in its 69 year' history.
Other favourites include Austria's JJ with his emo-opera epic Wasted Love and controversial sexually-charged dark horses, Malta's Mariana Conte with Serving, and Finland's Erika Vikram with Ich Komme. The song's title cheekily skirts Eurovision 'keep it nice' regulations and translates to 'I'm coming.'

In the appalling tweets, the Yeezy creator questioned the little ones' mental capacity. While he expressed remorse for the viral tweets, West took his apology back during an interview with DJ Akademiks later that same month. He called the tweets some of his 'worst' — or maybe his 'best' and 'strongest'. West issued a subsequent apology in April, only to immediately ask a vulgar question about Beyoncé, 43. The Single Ladies singer and Jay-Z, who are also the parents of 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, were 'discussing how they want to handle this situation, whether that be privately and/or in a legal matter,' a source told Page Six. We heard the couple would 'absolutely not stand' for the 'vulgar and offensive' statements. While Jay-Z and West's working relationship began in 2000, the Grammy winners have been at odds for years. Jay-Z told the New York Times about their 'complicated' bond in 2017, saying, 'There's certain things that happened that's not really acceptable to me. … But there's genuine love there'.

Samantha Barks welcomes second child
The Les Misérables actress and her husband, Alex Michael Stoll, announced the arrival of their daughter Felicity by sharing a black-and-white photo of Samantha pressing her lips against the newborn's forehead as they rest in a hospital bed. They simply captioned their joint Instagram post, "Hello Felicity," with a love heart emoji. Samantha, 34, met fellow stage actor Alex when they starred alongside each other in the Broadway musical adaptation of Pretty Woman in 2018. They got married in Italy in June 2022 and welcomed their first child, a son named Rafael, in October 2023.

The Project panellist Steve Price gets emotional in final apper

A tear welled up in the eye of Steve Price, a long-term media commentator and television and radio host, appeared regularly on the show for some 15 years and a tear welled up in his eye as he say goodbye on Monday night. The recently axed show will stop airing on Friday and Monday marked Mr Price's final appearance. He appeared as a panellist since the show first aired in 2009 as The 7PM Project before its name was changed to The Project in 2011. When asked by a fellow host how he was feeling about the show concluding, he said he was 'sad'. Steve Price reflected on his Monday night slot on the long-standing program. Picture: The Project 'I don't know what I'm going to do next Monday night,' he said. 'My daughter Kate is here tonight and she was 11 when I started doing this, so she was still in primary school. 'I've been very privileged to sit here. I've always been amazed that an old white guy like me sitting on the end of the bench was ever going to be allowed to stay for more than a week and I stayed here for 15 years.' Price, who also hosts a Friday evening program on Sky News, writes columns for the Saturday Herald Sun and has previously worked in radio. He praised his co-hosts and saluted the people who worked behind-the-scenes on the show. 'The on-air hosts have been fantastic. They've all been very generous and kind to me,' he said.
