Travel experts at AttractionTickets.com have worked out what you need to do to get a huge 59 days off work in 2026 - using just 27 days of annual leave.
Most employees who work a five-day week are entitled to at least 28 days' paid annual leave per year.
If you receive less it might be because your employer includes bank holidays in your 28-day entitlement.
The key to getting longer breaks is to use the bank holidays carefully.

Ideally you should submit your leave requests quickly to make sure they get approved.
Remember, your employer isn't obligated to give you specific days off - but it's worth seeing what you can get.
Here's what you should do...
Easter Weekend
You can get a substantial 16-day break if you use Good Friday on April 3 and Easter Monday on April 6.
These are the days to book off:
Monday, March 30
Tuesday, March 31
Wednesday, April 1
Thursday, April 2
Tuesday, April 7
Wednesday, April 8
Thursday, April 9
Friday, April 10.
Five stunning, little-known holiday destinations
You'll need eight days of annual leave for this but in total you'll have 16 days off.
You would be off between Saturday March 28 and Sunday April 12.
Early May Bank Holiday
You can land yourself a nine-day break by using the Early May Bank Holiday.
You'll need to book off:
Tuesday, May 5
Wednesday, May 6
Thursday, May 7
Friday, May 8
That means you'll only need to use four days of annual leave to be off from Saturday, May 2 until Sunday, May 10.
Spring Bank Holiday
You can use the same tactic for the second bank holiday in May - meaning you'll get 18 days off in one month.
You would book off:
Tuesday, May 26
Wednesday, May 27
Thursday, May 28
Friday, May 29
Again you'll just need four days off and it will take you from Saturday, May 23 to Sunday, May 31.
Summer Bank Holiday
If you're wanting to catch the last of the summer weather, you can book off the first week of September after the late August bank holiday (Monday, August 31).
You should book off:
Tuesday, September 1
Wednesday, September 2
Thursday, September 3
Friday, September 4
Booking off these four days will get you nine days off in a row.
You'll have Saturday, August 29 until Sunday, September 6 off.
Christmas holidays
Booking around Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day could get you 16 days off work in a row.
These are the days you should take off:
Monday, December 21
Tuesday, December 22
Wednesday, December 23
Thursday, December 24
Tuesday, December 29
Wednesday, December 30
Thursday, December 31
This uses seven days of annual leave but you'll be off all the way from Saturday, December 19 until Sunday, January 3 2027.

Blow for millions of Brit holidaymakers as price of passports set to rise again to plug growing black hole

THE price of passports is set to rise again in a massive blow to thousands of Brit holidaymakers. Ministers have been urged to increase the £95 renewal fee once more in a bid to fill a "growing black hole" in the Passport Office's budget. 1 Higher costs will affect millions of sun-seekers, with almost seven million passports issued to Brits last year. An adult passport is valid for 10 years while a children's passport is valid for five. An increase in fees could see travellers charged £32 more per application, according to The Telegraph. This comes as the Passport Office recorded a budget deficit of almost £230million last year and £916million over the past five years. The National Audit Office (NAO) said the increased fees will fill a "black hole" currently being paid for by taxpayer funds. Adults currently pay £94.50 for a new passport or £222 for a one-day renewal. Passport renewal fees have already seen a hike of £6 this year. In April, the cost of applying for a new passport online increased from £88.50 to £94.50 for adults, and from £69 to £74 for kids. Postal applications hiked from £100 to £107 for adults and from £69 to £74 for under-16s. The premium one-day-turnaround service for those in desperate need of a new passport went up to £222 from £207.50, and to £189 from £176.50 for children. 'Just an Irish thing- say travel fan as she shows off 'cool' passport feature The above-inflation rise marks the third time the price of passports have gone up in just over two years. Last April the cost of the holiday booklet rose by 7 per cent, following a hefty 9 per cent rise in February 2023. Most UK passports last for 10 years, although for many countries including the EU people need at least six months left to travel. The Home Office has long maintained it does not profit from passport sales and increase prices solely to offset higher manufacturing and processing costs. Holidays are getting more expensive anyway with airlines pushing up prices to keep pace with increased fuel costs. Jet-setters have also been braced for anti-tourist protests in party towns like Ibiza where the locals are sick of their areas being trashed.

Hotel slammed for using endangered red pandas to wake up guests by letting cuddly critters crawl into their beds

However, the Lehe Ledu Liangjiang Holiday Hotel, situated in the remote countryside near the southwestern city of Chongqing, has been rapped by the local forestry agency due to animal welfare concerns. While the publicity has brought in the guests it has also attracted criticism. Clips on social media show the endangered animals sitting on beds and interacting with the guests, who appear to be delighted to have them in their rooms. The hotel has drawn the attention of local media with a Chinese magazine featuring the unusual hotel which triggered a discussion on social media about the ethical use of the animals. In turn, the publicity drew the attention of the local forestry bureau who sent a team of inspectors round to investigate. A statement issued by the bureau said it had ordered the immediate halt to all 'close contact' activities with the red pandas and added it would report back on any further findings. Brit YouTube stars Ben and Reanne Dridger, from Portsmouth, who update their fans with vlogs of their travels through China, loved their encounter with the red pandas when they visited the hotel in April. Speaking to the camera, Ben said: 'China is the only place in the world where you can have a panda delivered to your room to sit on your bed with you,' before the camera panned to Reanne who was seen hand feeding pieces of apple to the friendly animal. Reanne then remarked: 'That's so cool,' as the red panda, one of four kept by the hotel, crawled across the bed and sniffed the camera. Footage has also been posted by Chinese guests on the country's popular social media site Douyin. Moment zookeeper is pinned down by pandas who chase her down inside enclosure Hotel staff have said how long the creatures stay in a guest's room 'depended on the red panda's mood that day,' according to a report by China Newsweek. The Global Times, a communist party newspaper, though has put out a severe warning that the practice could be in breach of animal rights. The hotel has responded to concerns over the treatment of the red pandas possibly being unhygienic or dangerous to children by saying the animals were all vaccinated and children had to be accompanied by an adult. Red pandas are currently listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and estimates say there are less than 10,000 living in the wild. Despite their name they are not closely related to the larger black and white giant pandas which live in the same region of China. Red pandas are part of the extended raccoon family. Before a ban was introduced in 2018, close contact with giant pandas, including photographs with cubs, was common practice. The Liangjiang Hotel appears to have swerved prosecution due to the fact red pandas are not technically in the giant panda family. 5 The hotel has hit back at criticism saying the animals are vaccinated and all children must be supervised by an adult Credit: Douyin

The beauty spot is north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway, about 124 miles northwest of Calgary. It is also roughly 85 miles from the site of the G7 summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, this week. STARS Air Ambulance spokeswoman Kate Langille earlier said two of its units were deployed around 2pm local time. Parks Canada has urged tourists to avoid the area. The Bow Glacier Falls hiking trail is 6-mile route running along the edges of Bow Lake. It's considered a moderate challenge for hikers and day-trippers include families. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said she was deeply saddened. "We are thinking of all those involved and wishing for their safety as we await further details," she said in a post on social media.
