
Gulf Air Touches Down In Nairobi After Over A Decade
Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, marked a major milestone today with the launch of its inaugural flight to Nairobi, Kenya, re-establishing a vital air link to the East African capital after more than a decade.
The new route, last served by the airline in 2012, is part of Gulf Air's strategic expansion plan aimed at tapping into emerging markets and enhancing connectivity for business and leisure travelers between Bahrain, East Africa, and international destinations.
Upon landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute. A ceremonial reception followed, attended by officials from Gulf Air and the Kenya Airports Authority.
Jeffrey Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air Group, hailed the launch as a pivotal moment in the airline's growth journey.
'The introduction of the Nairobi service marks a significant step in our long- term vision to build a broader, more connected global network. Africa is a key growth market for Gulf Air, and this route supports our ambition to meet the evolving needs of our passengers while contributing to regional economic development.'
Nicolas Bodo, Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority, welcomed the renewed connection between Bahrain and Kenya.
'We are delighted to see Gulf Air return to Nairobi. This partnership not only strengthens diplomatic and economic ties but also reinforces Nairobi's role as a major aviation hub in Africa. The new service will boost connectivity, enhance trade and tourism, and offer passengers greater travel options.'
The reinstated Nairobi route underscores Gulf Air's commitment to expanding its international footprint and offering seamless travel experiences, as the airline continues to position itself as a dynamic player in the global aviation landscape.

Gulf Air and CFM strengthen LEAP-1A Engine Support for A320neo Fleet
In a sign of a long-standing and trusted collaboration, Gulf Air and CFM International have extended the airline's long-term CFM LEAP-1A Services for A320neo family aircraft. Signed during Paris Airshow 2025, held from 16 to 22 June 2025, this strategic extension, along with the purchase of additional spare engines, forms a strong and reliable foundation for comprehensive engine support, enhancing fleet reliability and operational continuity. Being the Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier, Gulf Air operates one of the region's most modern and efficient fleets, which includes 29 LEAP-1A-powered A320neo family aircraft, continued collaboration with CFM is key to operational excellence; and a renewed affirmation of CFM's support and technical expertise. 'We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with CFM, who have been a key partner of our growth since our first CFM engine operations in the 1990s', said Dr. Jeffrey Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air Group. Bahraini Ambassador in Kuwait Assists Citizens Returning from Iraq
Bahrain's Ambassador to Kuwait, Salah Ali Al Maliki, along with the embassy's diplomatic and local staff, closely followed the safe return of Bahraini citizens arriving from Iraq.
