The PGA Tour just made a move that sent shockwaves through the golf world. With LIV Golf merger talks in limbo and relationships fractured over the PIF investment, the Tour could have played it safe.
Instead, it took a bold step, bringing in Brian Rolapp, a strategic mind with a proven track record of 22 years. The decision was announced during the U.S. Open Championship that saw J.J. Spaun's emotional victory.
While Spaun lifted the trophy at Oakmont, another major shift in golf was brewing behind the scenes.
New PGA Tour CEO comes clean on LIV Golf negotiations
Rolapp didn't just walk away from any job—he left behind a 22-year legacy at the NFL, where he played a pivotal role in shaping football's financial empire.
His expertise in media rights, sponsorship deals, and league expansion set the foundation for the NFL's record-breaking $110 billion TV contracts, securing partnerships with Amazon, CBS, ESPN/ABC, FOX, NBC, Netflix, and YouTube.
Now, the PGA Tour wants that firepower to navigate golf's most complex business dilemma—the paused LIV Golf merger.

At the Travelers Championship press conference, Rolapp addressed the ongoing merger uncertainty, choosing his words carefully:
"When it comes to that situation particularly, I think the fans have been pretty clear. They want to see the best golfers competing against each other. I think everybody as a golf fan. I agree with that."
With merger talks appearing close to finalisation earlier this year—right before the Masters—the expectation was that golf's divide would soon be mended.
Yet, despite high level discussions, including White House involvement, everything collapsed, leaving the 2-year-old merger in uncertainty.
Rolapp, however, seems determined to reignite talks and find a path forward.
"When it comes to the situation with LIV, I think that's a complex situation that's probably something I should learn more about before I speak," he admitted.
"But I will say my focus is on growing the TOUR, making it better, and really moving on from the position of strength that it has."
Interestingly, Rolapp has past ties to LIV Golf's CEO, Scott O'Neil. Per Golf.com, the two studied together at Harvard Business School, meaning the business mindset and past relationship between the two leaders could play a major role in reshaping negotiations.

With both leaders now in place, it's expected that conversations will intensify, giving renewed hope to a deal that once looked impossible.
Rolapp's track record suggests aggressive growth strategies. Under his NFL leadership, the league secured over $10 billion per season in media rights, revamped global sponsorship models, and launched NFL+—a direct-to-consumer streaming service.
His business success story makes him uniquely suited to strengthen the PGA Tour. What do you think? Let us know in the comment section below!

Sean McVay: Rams' minicamp in Hawaii is about quality time together

The Rams made the unusual decision to have this week's mandatory minicamp in Maui, and coach Sean McVay said the trip was as much about togetherness as it was about football. Players were encouraged to bring their families with them for a Hawaiian vacation, and McVay said that meant a lot for the team's bonding. McVay also said that Los Angeles and Maui have in common that they're rebuilding from wildfires, and that the Rams wanted to bring some goodwill to the area. 'It's about connection and being able to get some time,' McVay said, via Sarah Barshop of ESPN. 'It's cool to be able to really, for me, meet a lot of these guys' families that maybe I haven't met quite yet or see their wives or girlfriends or their kids, and so that's been a really cool thing so far. This is about being able to get some good quality time with each other and then being able to use the platform that we're blessed with to be able to get back to a community that went through some similar things that we can all understand and kind of empathize with, and you see how excited they are to see our players and that's fun.' There was a time when summer practices in the NFL were brutal, and coaches were taskmasters. McVay represents a new generation of coaches who see the summer as a time to build camaraderie and make sure players are taking care of their bodies so they're healthy when the season starts. That buys him plenty of goodwill with his players.

Entering the 2025 college football season, the Texas Longhorns and quarterback Arch Manning are expected to be one of the best teams in the nation. Manning has drawn a lot of attention due to being the nephew of NFL legends Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, but he's now ready to forge his own path. Manning has the talent to become something very special. Many believe that he would be in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft if he chooses to leave Texas. That being said, he has a lot of hype to live up to during the upcoming season with the Longhorns. Read more: Bill Belichick's Future With North Carolina Made Crystal Clear By Insider During an interview with Sporting News, Manning spoke out about Arch. He made it clear first and foremost just how proud he is of the young signal caller. "I'm proud of Arch," Manning said. "He went to Texas because that's where he wanted to go. He wanted to go to school there. That was the reason I went to Tennessee." Manning continued on to talk about what makes the Longhorns such a good football program. "It's more than just the football program," he said. "You like going to school there. You like the head coach who also calls the plays, and that creates great continuity. To me, the Kyle Shanahans, the Sean McVays – when the head coach is calling the plays – the quarterback is going to thrive in the same system every single year." He then transitioned into talking about the younger Manning's upcoming year. "The fact that this will be Arch's third year in that system, he'll have great knowledge of the system – still hasn't had on-the-field game reps as I'm sure he would have liked, but those will come this year," Manning said. "There will be things for him to learn, but I'm proud of him for his commitment and I'm looking forward to watching him play." Read more: Ohio State Buckeyes QB Julian Sayin Already Creating Huge Hype Last season, Arch received some valuable playing time behind Quinn Ewers. He completed 67.8 percent of his pass attempts for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also ran for 108 yards and four more scores. After waiting behind Ewers for two years, it's Manning's turn. He's ready for the limelight and will be given a chance to prove that the superstar hype he has received as a backup is accurate. His uncle is clearly excited and expecting big things from him. It will be interesting to see if Manning is able to prove everyone right for believing in him. Wisconsin great Braelon Allen holds a notable NFL record entering 2025 season

Wisconsin great Braelon Allen holds a notable NFL record entering 2025 season The most rush yards in NFL history before these ages... What jumps out about this list? 🤔 — NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) June 19, 2025 Wisconsin fans grew used to hearing about Braelon Allen's age during his terrific three-year college career. The Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, native joined the program a year early after reclassifying from the class of 2022 to 2021. That move meant he joined the program as a 17-year-old true freshman, a fact that became universally known when the Badgers' season kicked off that fall. Allen burst onto the scene immediately during that true freshman campaign, taking 186 carries for 1,268 yards and 12 touchdowns. His emergence one month into the season directly correlated with the Badgers' seven-game win streak and in-season resurgence. Thanks to the ESPN and Fox broadcast teams, Allen's age became synonymous with the team's success. The talented running back went on to play in 35 games over three seasons with the Badgers. He took 597 total carries for 3,494 yards and 35 touchdowns. At only 20 years old, Allen entered the draft after his junior season, where the New York Jets selected him with the No. 134 overall pick. That leads to Allen's current NFL record. 20-year-old prospects rarely enter the professional ranks, given the three-year requirement between high school graduation and NFL draft declaration. A player would need to enter college at 17, which Allen did, then perform well enough to declare before their senior season. Allen, who didn't turn 21 until January 20, was the only 20-year-old in the NFL last season. Thus, it should be no surprise that he is currently the league's all-time leader in rushing yards before the age of 21. Allen carried the football 92 times for 334 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie with the Jets in 2024, primarily operating as the backup to starter Breece Hall. Allen and Hall should continue to form a 1-2 punch for the Jets in 2025. The former Badger's league record should hold for some time. Moving forward, it will be interesting to watch whether he can surpass any other legendary name on this list. For reference, Ezekiel Elliott totaled an NFL-best 1,631 yards as a 21-year-old rookie in 2016. Allen would need a 1,300-yard output in 2025 to reach that mark.
