Construction of a stadium will pave way for development of sports in the district, said Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath on Tuesday during the foundation laying ceremony for a cricket stadium and sports complex near Jagannadhagattu in Kurnool district.
Mr. Bharath along with Collector P. Ranjith Basha, MLAs Gouru Charitha, K.E. Syam Babu and Kurnool Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairperson Somisetty Venkateswarlu laid the stone for the stadium being constructed within six acres opposite the TIDCO houses in the city. The stadium and complex were being constructed with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds provided by the Greenko.
Asserting that the upcoming cricket stadium will act as a catalyst for development of sports, Mr. Bharath said that they will also take steps for the construction of a stadium in the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) grounds besides the Bala Sai Baba school in Kodumur Assembly Constituency.
The Minister thanked the Greenko Group for funding the construction of the cricket stadium and also for setting up pumped storage hydro power project, which is one of the biggest in the entire world, in the district.
Mr. Bharath assured to bring more industries to the district which would generate more employment opportunities. 'We have promised 20 lakh jobs to the youth and unemployed in five years and we will fulfil the promise,' he said and added that they have chalked out plans to set up one MSME park in every Assembly constituency and are moving forward in that direction. He said efforts would be made for setting up a tomato processing unit in Pathikonda at the earliest.
Collector Ranjith Basha said that as Tirupati, Kadapa and Anantapur in Rayalaseema region have good stadiums, the administration planned to construct one in Kurnool for the development of sports in the district. He said coaching will be given in basket ball and kabaddi apart from cricket and also for shuttle and swimming in the indoor stadium. 'Children till the age of 15 years will be given training by 40 coaches in various sports at the stadium,' he said.

Hyderabad traffic police to use cameras on high-rises for ‘eagle view' monitoring

The Hyderabad police are installing cameras on multi-storey buildings across the city to get an 'Eagle View' of traffic movement and congestion points. The initiative, supported by building owners, aims to help traffic officials detect problems in real time, alert ground staff, and suggest immediate solutions. This was announced during a traffic review meeting held on Friday by C.V. Anand, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad. Mr. Anand said that the average speed of vehicles in Hyderabad has increased from 17–18 kilometres per hour last year to 24–25 kilometres per hour now, thanks to the efforts of the traffic police. 'Around 1,600 new vehicles are being added to Hyderabad roads every day. Across the three Commissionerates, approximately 91 lakh vehicles are on the road daily,' said the Commissioner. Meanwhile, Mr. Anand said 'Operation Rope' has shown good results and will be strengthened further through a more scientific approach. On VIP movement, he said traffic is now being managed in a more planned manner. Instructions from the Chief Minister to avoid long traffic halts during his travel are being followed strictly, he added. 'About 80% of the traffic signals in Hyderabad now run on auto mode, helping improve the flow of vehicles. For traffic violations, the department is focusing more on the quality of penalties rather than the number of fines, which has led to a decrease in the overall fines being issued,' said the officer. He further added that drone cameras are already in use for monitoring traffic, and Google is providing technical assistance in addition to Google Maps to improve the traffic system. Traffic marshals To address staff shortage, the traffic department is introducing the 'Traffic Marshal' system, where corporate companies can appoint marshals under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). These marshals will be trained by the police and used for traffic control duties. Transgender individuals working as traffic assistants are delivering good results, Mr. Anand said, adding that a report has been submitted to the government. 'More appointments will be made in the traffic department and the government is also preparing to fill vacancies in other departments,' assured the Commissioner. Mr. Anand said preparations for the monsoon season are in progress, with coordination between the police, GHMC and HYDRA. He also mentioned that the disturbance caused by private travel buses is high, and a meeting will be held soon with their managements to take appropriate action. The meeting was attended by all the ACPs, Additional DCPs, Inspectors and SIs from traffic stations, along with Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, DCP Traffic-I B.K. Rahul Hegde, DCP Traffic-II Ashok Kumar and DCP Traffic-III R. Venkateswarlu.

Lilavati Trust Slaps Rs 1,000-Crore Defamation Suit On HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan; Details Here

The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust filed a Rs 1,000 crore defamation lawsuit and a criminal complaint against HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan for alleged false statements. In an escalation of the ongoing dispute, the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMM Trust) has filed a Rs 1,000 crore civil defamation lawsuit against HDFC Bank Managing Director & CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, accusing him of making 'malicious, false and defamatory" statements against the Trust and its permanent trustee Prashant Mehta. In an official statement, the Trust said, 'The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMM Trust) has filed a Rs 1,000 crore civil defamation lawsuit against Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan, Managing Director & CEO of HDFC Bank, over a series of malicious, false, and defamatory statements made against the Trust and its Permanent Trustee, Mr. Prashant Mehta." The Lilavati Hospital, one of Mumbai's best-known healthcare institutions, operates under the aegis of the LKMM Trust. 'Coordinated Smear Campaign' The Trust alleged that Jagdishan launched a 'coordinated campaign to malign its reputation and obstruct its operations as a public charitable institution." In a parallel move, the Trust has also filed a criminal complaint before the Metropolitan Magistrate of Girgaon, Maharashtra. The court has issued notices to Sashidhar Jagdishan, HDFC Bank's spokesperson, and its corporate communication head. The Trust described the legal action as a vital step forward. 'The criminal complaint and subsequent notice mark a significant step in holding the HDFC CEO accountable for what the Trust alleges is a deliberate and sustained smear campaign," it said. The Trust further clarified that the legal action is not retaliatory: 'But are in response to a sustained effort to discredit a respected charitable institution and its founding family without any supporting documentation or conclusive evidence from HDFC Bank to validate its claims." FIR and Financial Fraud Allegations Denying all allegations linking it to a company under scrutiny, the Trust said, 'The Trust and Prashant Mehta are not connected to the affairs of Splendour Gems in any manner whatsoever as fraudulently espoused by the CEO of HDFC." In response, earlier this week, HDFC Bank MD and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan approached the Bombay High Court, seeking quashing of the FIR registered against him based on the financial fraud allegations made by the Lilavati Trust, which oversees the Mumbai-based Lilavati Hospital. The plea was mentioned before the court on Wednesday and will be heard in due course of time. The FIR stems from a magistrate court's order, directing the police to investigate the charges of alleged financial fraud. The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMM Trust) has alleged in the complaint that of the Rs 14.42 crore misappropriated by its trustees, Rs 2.05 crore were received by Jagdishan. It also claimed that the offer of Rs 1.5 crore disguised as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to hospital staff shows the intent to destroy evidence and obstruct justice. Despite judicial findings and multiple complaints, HDFC Bank failed to act, violating Section 166 of the Companies Act and SEBI governance mandates, the Trust alleged. The bank, however, has denied the allegations, calling it 'outrageous and preposterous".
