Qatar says its output at South Pars field steady
LONDON/DUBAI: Qatar's gas production at the South Pars field is steady and supply is proceeding normally, it said on Tuesday, after the world's largest gas field was hit by an Israeli airstrike on Saturday, prompting Iran to partially suspend its production.
Qatar, the world's third-biggest liquefied natural gas exporter after the US and Australia, shares the South Pars gas field with Iran.
'So far, gas supplies are proceeding normally. However, the ill-advised targeting raises concerns for everyone regarding gas supplies,' Qatar foreign ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said.
'This is a reckless move ... The companies operating in the fields are international, and there is a global presence, especially in the North Field,' he said during a weekly press briefing in Doha.
The South Pars field is located offshore in Iran's southern Bushehr province and accounts for the bulk of production in Iran, the world's third-largest gas producer after the United States and Russia.
Loading of LNG from Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG Terminal, which usually loads about 90 cargoes a month, remains within the usual range so far, according to shipping data from ICIS LNG Edge.
'There appear to be more than a dozen vessels in ballast (not carrying any cargo) waiting outside the port. These would ordinarily be expected to load quickly, but it remains to be seen if these will be delayed,' said ICIS' LNG analyst Robert Songer. LNG tanker, HLAITAN, which delivered a cargo to India earlier this month, was on its way back to Ras Laffan but is idling away from the Strait of Hormuz.

22 arrested over links to Israeli spy services
TEHRAN: Police in Iran's Qom province said Saturday that 22 people 'linked to Israeli spy services' had been arrested since June 13, Fars news agency reported. '22 people were identified and arrested on charges of being linked to the Zionist regime's spy services, disturbing public opinion and supporting the criminal regime,' the agency said, citing the head of police intelligence in Iran's Qom province. ‘Israel struck Iran's Isfahan nuclear site again'
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Israel targeted 'two centrifuge production sites' at Iran's Isfahan nuclear facility overnight in a second wave of strikes on the location since the start of the war, a military official said on Saturday. 'Isfahan we targeted in the first 24 hours of our operation, but we carried out a second wave of strikes there overnight, deepening our achievements and advancing the damage to the facility,' the military official told reporters during a briefing on condition of anonymity. He added that the targeting of two centrifuge production sites in Isfahan was 'in addition to a couple more centrifuge production sites that we have been able to strike successfully in recent days'. The repeated raids by the Israeli air force have 'dealt a severe blow to Iran's centrifuge production capabilities,' the official added. Centrifuges are used to enrich uranium, both for civilian and military use, with the radioactive metal needing to be enriched to high levels for use in atomic weapons. Isfahan, in central Iran, is known to have a uranium conversion facility which processes raw, mined uranium. It also holds a nuclear fuel fabrication facility, which was inaugurated in 2009 and produces low-enriched fuel for use in power plants. In July 2022, Iran announced plans to construct a new research reactor there. On the first day of Israel's strikes on June 13, the Israeli military said it had struck 'a facility for producing metallic uranium, infrastructure for reconverting enriched uranium, laboratories, and additional infrastructure' in Isfahan. Iran's atomic energy agency said afterwards that the damage was 'not extensive' and there was no cause for concern about radiation. Israel has also targeted Iran's two main underground nuclear sites, Natanz and Fordo.

JI urges govt to convene emergency OIC summit on ME
LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has urged the government to immediately convene an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad, in light of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. Speaking at Mansoora on Friday, he stated that the recent acts of aggression in Gaza and Iran are being carried out under the patronage of the United States — a country he described as an enemy of the Muslim world. He stressed that the Muslim Ummah, along with peace-loving nations, must urgently adopt a joint strategy to counter US-Israeli aggression. 'After wreaking havoc in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US now appears determined to replicate the same destruction in Iran,' said Rehman. 'It [the US] continues to support India's blatant human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. Without Washington's backing, Israel holds no power — and yet, despite overwhelming international support for a ceasefire in Gaza, the US vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at ending the conflict. This is a deliberate push toward global warfare.' The JI chief reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stand firmly with the people of Iran. He called on governments of Muslim countries to reject fear of American pressure and boldly represent the sentiments of the Ummah. Criticizing Islamabad's silence, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman noted that despite clear threats of an expanding war — including Israel's attacks on Iran and the US signalling deeper military involvement — the government has failed to take concrete steps. 'The entire Muslim world is looking to Pakistan for leadership,' he said. 'Islamabad must rise to the occasion and play a decisive role on the issues of Gaza and Iran. If the flames of war continue to spread, it will not only engulf the Middle East but also South Asia and beyond — a catastrophe that will be impossible to contain.'
