Ayodhya administration bans Urs event citing law & order concern
The local administration has banned an annual Urs ceremony in Ayodhya after receiving inputs regarding potential breach of peace and the possibility of the
law and order
situation worsening, officials said.
The Urs ceremony taking place here for the past two decades was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Following a complaint by the
Vishva Hindu Parishad
(VHP), the
Ayodhya administration
cancelled the permission for the 'Dada Miya Urs', which is held every year at the Dada Miya Mazaar in the Khanpur Masodha area.
According to sources, local VHP members Lalji Sharma and Suryakant Pandey lodged a complaint with the police, claiming a gathering was being organised in the name of "Ghazi Baba" in Khanpur Masodha.
Police investigation revealed that the organisers obtained permission from the local administration for organising the Urs under the name "Urs Dada Miya". However, they were found collecting donations by printing receipts under the name "Ghazi Baba Urs".

The complainants also claimed that during Urs, the organisers invite some clerics who allegedly perform "black magic" and "misguide" people.
"The permission granted under the name 'Urs Dada Miya' has been revoked as it was found that Urs under the name of Ghazi Baba was being planned," Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari said.
Meanwhile, no office-bearers of the Urs organising committee have commented on the issue so far.

Udayagiri police station divided into north and south
The State government has approved the proposal to divide Udayagiri police station in Mysuru into Udayagiri North and Udayagiri South police stations. The government's decision follows a proposal submitted in this regard by the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police in April 2025. A Government Order dated June 20 said the approval follows the clearance by the Finance Department on Thursday. The Director-General and Inspector-General of Police, in the proposal, sought to divide the jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station into Udayagiri North police station and Udayagiri South police station by fixing the Mahadevapura Main Road as the boundary. While the existing Udayagiri police station situated on Mahadevapura Main Road is proposed to be converted into the Udayagiri South police station, a new building for the Udayagiri North police station can be constructed on a Civic Amenities (CA) plot No. CA – 07 measuring 29x36 metres in Devanuru 1st Stage, the proposal said. The jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station established in 1994 after being seperated from the Nazarbad police station limits comprises areas that are 'communally sensitive'. 'Over the past 26 years, the region has witnessed various criminal activities, communal riots, inter-caste and inter-religious conflicts, serious offences such as murders and attempt to murder, theft cases, and changing electoral scenario all of which had resulted in increasing pressure on the officers of the Udayagiri police station,' the proposal said. Giving details of the number of criminal cases registered in the Udayagiri police station in the last three years, the proposal said 215 cases were registered in 2022, while 213 and 209 cases were registered in 2023 and 2024 respectively. It was pointed out that the Udayagiri police station area comprises significant population of Hindus, Muslims, and Christians, with the presence of 78 mosques, 59 temples, and nine churches. 'During religious festivals, Urs and temple fairs, officials and personnel from other police stations in the city had to be deployed to ensure law and order,' the proposal said. The Mahadevapura Main Road, which is considered as a boundary for the division of the Udayagiri police station, is highly congested. The road has mosques, bus depots, bus stops, banks, schools, private financial institutions, ATMs, etc., besides vegetable, grocery shops, garment stores, medical stores, hotels, meat shops, etc. 'Street vendors crowd both sides of the road,' the proposal said. The road, which is a densely populated commercial stretch, connects not only major roads and residential areas, but also the Outer Ring Road, five km of which falls in the jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station. While the existing population of the Udaygiri police station is estimated to be 3.11 lakh, the proposed Udayagiri North Police station will have 1.48 lakh people and the proposed Udayagiri South Police station will have a population of 1.62 lakh. The staff sanctioned for the Udayagiri South Police station includes one police inspector, four police sub-inspectors, eight assistant sub-inspectors, 24 head constables, and 48 police constables. Similiarly, the staff sanctioned for the Udayagiri North police station comprises one police inspector, four sub-inspectors, eight assistant sub-inspectors, 24 head constables, 48 police constables, and two assistant police constables. The creation of two police stations carries an estimated recurring annual expenditure of ₹6.11 crore and a non-recurring expenditure of ₹3.39 crore, the proposal added.

Clarifying that India is already a 'Hindu Rashtra' and there was no need to make it so, founder-international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Dr. Praveen Togadia said the quest of for a 'Hindu Rashtra' where food, education and healthcare is available to all. Addressing a press conference in Hubballi on June 16, Dr. Togadia clarified that, for the last four decades, he had been working for Hindu polity, and not politics. 'Let me make it clear. I have always been trying to influence Hindu polity in India. Our objective has been to mobilise people's mandate to influence the government for the welfare and safey of Hindus, and will continue to work towards the same,' he said. Recalling his college days, he said that when he was pursuing medical education, the fee was just ₹25. 'But now, one has to pay crores of rupees for medical education. That's why we want a 'Hindu Rashtra' where food, education and healthcare is available to all children. There should be a system which will ensure employment, both while studying and after education,' he said. No threat to life Replying to a query, Mr. Togadia said there is no threat to his life, and that he is safe because of the blessings of Hindus. 'In fact, there was no life threat, or problem during the Congress regime either. Even now, there is no threat,' he said. 'Hindus must have three children' Referring to the decrease in fertility ratio, Mr. Togadia pointed out that the fertility ratio of Hindus was delcining and had been reduced to 1.7, which is a matter of concern. 'Our slogan is 'teen bacche, Hindu sacche' (three children, true Hindu). We will honour parents having three children. If poor people have three children, we will pay their school fees. We are financially strong to pay the fees of one lakh poor children,' he said. Cases against Hindutva activists On cases being filed against 'Hindutva activists', Dr. Togadia said that it was not just in Congress-ruled States, but even elsewhere cases were being filed against Hindutva activists. If fake cases are being filed agains them, VHP would fight against it. 'We will fight for the safety of Hindus,' he said. On Operation Sindoor, he said that while it was good that the armed forces had gone into Pakistan to destroy terror bases, the people of the nation would have been more happy if there were more casualties on the enemy side. India progressing since 1947; it's nation, not individual Dr. Togadia has said that India had been marching ahead in terms of development ever since 1947, and had achieved great milestones in various fields. Dr. Togadia said, 'India itself is great. It is not right to say that political parties have made it great. Here, individual is not important, but the country is.' However, he pointed out, there is also an India with lakhs of starving people, and where lakhs are unable to pay their children's school fees. 'We have to take along both the Indias,' he said.

Hindu Munnani prints 50 lakh flyers for event in Tamil Nadu
TIRUCHY: Framed as a spiritual gathering, the 'Muruga Bhakthargalin Aanmeega Maanaadu' scheduled in Madurai on June 22 is positioned by right-wing groups, including the RSS, Hindu Munnani, VHP, and BJP as one of the largest religious mobilisations in Tamil Nadu in recent times. The event, which centres on the collective chanting of Kanda Sashti Kavasam, is also seen by saffron groups as an exercise to invoke Hindu identity and reinforce cultural consolidation. Unlike the earlier Vel Yatra, this time, the mobilisation is done by approaching devotional gatherings in temples, meeting pilgrimage groups and inviting seers of mutts, Hindu sects, dominant OBC-caste groups. Organisers have roped in not just Murugan devotees but also followers of Sai Baba, Aadhiparasakthi, Mariamman, and over a dozen caste-based outfits.
