
Three-day voter awareness rally flagged off in Buxar
Buxar: A three-day voter awareness rally was flagged off by DM, Vidyanand Singh, from the collectorate premises here on Tuesday.
The rally would be held under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) programme, coinciding with World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day.
The aim of the rally is to raise awareness about the importance of voting and inspire citizens to participate in the democratic process without fear, said a district administration official.
On this occasion, DM also administered a pledge to the attendees, emphasising the need for free, fair, and peaceful elections. "Every vote counts, and every voter's participation strengthens our democracy," the DM said in his address.
The rally, led by local youth icon Abhiram Sundar, saw enthusiastic participation from young citizens and volunteers riding bicycles. As they traversed various parts of the city, they engaged with the public, spreading awareness through slogans such as "First vote, then refreshment" and "Voter awareness is the identity of a strong democracy".
Participants carried placards highlighting the significance of voting, while also promoting eco-friendly practices through the use of bicycles. The initiative skillfully blended the messages of democratic responsibility and environmental conservation.
The event was also attended by Buxar DDC Akash Choudhary, DPRO Saurav Alok, senior officials, NCC cadets and school students. All took a pledge to contribute to the success of the voter awareness campaign.

Lucknow immerses itself in yoga fervour
: Soon after sunrise, the state capital was a picture of serenity as Lucknowites participated enthusiastically in International Yoga Day events on Saturday, performing yoga poses with mindfulness as various organisations, institutions and cultural groups conducted programmes to mark the occasion. People participate in a yoga session on the 11th "International Yoga Day" at Ambedkar Park, Gomti Nagar in Lucknow on Saturday (Deepak Gupta/ HT) Lucknow University: Events held on main, second campuses Over 1800 people participated in the Yoga Day celebrations on the Lucknow University main campus and about 700 individuals took part in the proceedings on the second campus. Actor Anil Rastogi and former hockey Olympian Sujit Kumar (both alumni of Lucknow University) were the chief guests. The yoga poses were performed after the broadcast of the prime minister's address, delivered from Visakhapatnam. BBAU holds Yoga Sangam The event 'Yoga Sangam 2025' was organized at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University by the yoga department and the Yoga Wellness Centre of the university in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, National Cadet Corps (NCC), and the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Vice chancellor Prof Raj Kumar Mittal presided over the event. Surendra Chaudhary, sabhapati, Sansadiya Adyaksh Samiti, UP, was the chief guest. Officials perform yogasanas at Raj Bhavan, Andhra Pradesh police headquarters
Officials of Raj Bhavan celebrated International Yoga Day by performing asanas here on Saturday. The staff led by Secretary to Governor M. Hari Jawaharlal participated in the yoga day programme. Yoga masters Kavyasri and Ramananda taught yoga to the employees. Joint Secretary to Governor P.S. Suryaprakash, Deputy Secretary K. Raghu and officers participated. International Yoga Day was celebrated at the A.P. Police Headquarters at Mangalagiri. Many police officers took part in the celebrations. Inspector General of Police Ake Ravi Krishna, officers Hari Kumar, Rajan and other officers performed yogasanas. Cadets of 4 (A) Girls Battalion, NCC, Vijayawada, led by Commanding Officer Col. Balinder Singh, performed yogas on Gandhi Hill. Over 300 girl cadets from various institutions, along with Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), Permanent Instructors (PI Staff), and Girl Cadet Instructors (GCIs), participated in the event, in association with Gandhi Hill Foundation, said Commanding Officer, 4(A) Girls Battalion NCC, Colonel Balinder Singh. Captains Sailaja and Rohini Kusuma, ANOs, 4(A) Girls Battalion NCC, Gandhi Hill Foundation secretary Y. Ramachandra Rao, treasurer Siva Sankar Kasturi and others participated in the programme.

NCC volunteers return to shore after 10-day sea expedition
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan formally welcomed a group of NCC cadets on their return to shore after a sailing expedition at the Thengaithittu harbour on Friday, June 20, 2025. The 'Sagar Sangram' expedition organised by the NCC Directorate Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands featured a group of 60 cadets from the NCC naval unit drawn from schools and colleges. The group, comprising 35 boys and 25 girl cadets, from NCC units in Puducherry and Cuddalore, had covered an estimated 300km during the 10-day trip to Karaikal via Cuddalore and back. The group, which was accompanied by three naval unit officers and two associates, undertook various social service activities, such as blood donation camps, sapling plantation and cleanliness drives to create awareness among the public at select destinations enroute. A press note from Raj Nivas said the Lt. Governor also visited the photo exhibition set up in this connection that depicted the adventures of the National Cadet Corps, training sessions and social service activities. Colonel R. R. Menon, Group Commander of the National Cadet Corps Puducherry Division and others were present.
