'Criminal betrayal of our soldiers': Cong slams Modi govt over 'failing' to isolate Pakistan

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday alleged that the Modi government has failed to isolate Pakistan on the global stage after the
Pahalgam terror attack
, calling it a "criminal betrayal" of Indian soldiers and citizens.
Congress' head of media and publicity department, Pawan Khera, said instead of strong action against Pakistan, China armed it with fifth-generation jets and missiles and the World Bank and the ADB gave more aid to the neighbouring country.
He claimed that the UN Security Council also named Pakistan Vice-Chair of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, just days after the terror attack on Indian soil.

Another Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury said in a post that IMF gave $1 billion to Pakistan on May 9, the World Bank decided to give $40 billion to Pakistan soon after Operation Sindoor and ADB gave $800 million to Pakistan on June 3, even though the ADB president met PM Modi on June 1.
"Have we failed in our Foreign Policy?" she asked.
"Why are the 4 terrorists who indulged in Pahalgam carnage still alive and going around?" she said.
"You are able to eliminate Naxals, but not able to eliminate these 4 terrorists, even after a month? Who is responsible for the intelligence failure?
"151 tours, 72 countries, many hugs, kisses and gifts. Still no results. India needs answers," Chowdhury said.
The Congress leader also said that a special session of Parliament was required to ask questions on US President Donald Trump's claims, more than 11 times, of "brokering a ceasefire" between India and Pakistan.
"Why is PM Modi not denying his claim?" she asked.

Long Queues At Embassy, Over 300 Indians Leave Israel: NDTV Ground Report

New Delhi: Hundreds of Indian nationals have begun departing Israel using land routes as the conflict between Tel Aviv and Iran escalated after the US bombed Tehran's three key nuclear sites. Outside the Indian Embassy in Israel, buses were lined up today morning and people formed queues with packed bags in their hands. An NDTV journalist reporting from ground zero saw many Indian nationals, including students, waiting near the embassy in Israel to return home. With Israeli airspace closed and commercial flights suspended, over 300 Indian nationals have started taking the land route. They are being taken to Jordan or Egypt, from where they will be flown to New Delhi. The first batch of evacuees has already left Israel. There are reportedly about 18,000 Indian nationals currently living in Israel. When the US joined Israel's conflict against Iran on Sunday, triggering fears of a full-blown war in the Middle East, India extended its 'Operation Sindhu' to Tel Aviv. Last week, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had said that India will evacuate those Indian nationals "who wish to leave" Israel. "Their travel from Israel to India will be facilitated through the land borders and thereafter by air to India. The government of India accords the highest priority to the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad," it had said. New Delhi has asked all Indian nationals to register themselves with the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv at if not already registered. AAP's Gopal Italia won the Visavadar Assembly seat with flying colours, having polled 75,942 votes and defeating the BJP's Kirit Patel in a see-saw battle by 17,554 votes after all 21 rounds of counting were completed. Italia and Patel fought an interesting battle for over 15 rounds, before the AAP candidate took a decisive lead in the later stages and came out on top. Congress's Nitin Ranpariya was a distant third with just 5,501 votes. However, it was smooth sailing for BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda in Kadi, who maintained a clear lead throughout and won the seat as he bagged 99,742 votes and defeated his nearest rival Ramesh Chavda by 39,452 votes, who polled 60,290 votes. The voting for the Visavadar and the Kadi Assembly seats of Gujarat was held on June 19. While Visavadar reported a turnout of 56.89%, Kadi saw a relatively lower figure at 57.90%. In Kadi, the seat fell vacant after the death of BJP MLA Karsanbhai Solanki, following which the party fielded Rajendra Chavda, against Congress's Ramesh Chavda, and AAP's Jagdish Chavda. The contest was seen as an opportunity to guage the Dalit community's voting patterns in the region.
