UAE weather alert issued as dusty conditions reduce visibility
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow and orange dust alert across the UAE, with strong winds reducing visibility to below 3,000 metres in some parts of the country.
The weather alert will be in place until noon on Wednesday, and residents have been urged to be extra cautious when stepping outdoors.
They have also been advised to "lock all doors and windows to prevent dust from entering the buildings".

Speaking to Dubai Eye 103.8's The Agenda, Geophysics expert Dr Diana Francis from the Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, explained that the UAE is facing the impact of a larger sandstorm in the region.
A sandstorm in Iraq on Wednesday forced airports to shut and left 1,800 people in hospital with respiratory problems.
"The shift in seasons pointed out by scientists, regarding the climate change could be seen this year," Dr Francis added, explaining that we could see "early summer and late winter".
Meanwhile, some schools in Dubai announced cancellation of outdoor activities on Wednesday due to the dusty weather conditions.
In an advisory, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to be vigilant during the hazardous conditions, and follow changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
"For your safety and for the safety of others on the road, please do not be distracted by taking any videos or using your phone," the police cautioned in their social media post.

UAE weather tomorrow: Temperatures to decrease; yellow alert issued for rough seas
There will be a decrease in temperatures in the UAE on Friday, June 20, according to the country's weather department. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that the weather conditions will be fair in general and partly cloudy over some eastern areas. It will be mostly sunny in the country and temperatures in Abu Dhabi are likely to see a high of 40°C and a low of 29°C, while in Dubai, it will be 40°C with a low of 30°C. Sharjah will witness a high of 39°C and a low of 29°C.

UAE weather today is expected to be fair in general and partly cloudy at times, as per the daily bulletin issued by the country's National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Clouds will appear eastward, may be convective by afternoon, the bulletin said. Conditions will turn humid by night and Friday morning, and there is a probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. Red and yellow alerts have been issued for fog in certain areas. Humidity will range between 10 and 85 per cent in internal areas. Temperatures in internal areas will range between 23°C and 47°C. Light to moderate winds, freshening at times, causing blowing dust and sand westward, are expected, with a speed of 10–25, reaching 40 Km/hr. Abu Dhabi will see a maximum of 42°C and a low of 29°C, while the mercury may rise to 40°C and touch a low of 30°C in Dubai. In Sharjah, the temperature will range between 29°C minimum and 41°C maximum. The sea will be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and slight in Oman Sea. Summer will officially start on Saturday, June 21, as the day is called the summer solstice. A summer solstice is the moment when the Sun reaches its highest and northernmost point in the sky. UAE temperatures had reached a high of 50.5°C on Tuesday, June 17, the NCM said. It was recorded at 2.30pm in Sweihan, Al Ain.
