JR Smith ‘molests' Jalen Brunson's shoulder during Scott Van Pelt interview after Knicks triumph
Jalen Brunson's unexpected shoulder massage stole the spotlight during his postgame interview with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt after the Knicks beat the Pacers in Game 5 Thursday night to extend their Eastern Conference Finals series.
The Knicks point guard, who finished with 32 points at Madison Square Garden, was in the midst of a live interview on the court as JR Smith entered the camera frame and began rubbing his shoulder.
'Who's molesting your shoulder?' Van Pelt asked as Smith — a former Knicks shooting guard — was seen brushing his two championship rings up against Brunson's arm.
'JR Smith,' said Brunson, who laughed and looked over at the former Knicks guard.
'Tell JR Van Pelt said leave you alone,' the host quipped.

'Nah, he'll just stay here and keep talking,' Brunson replied.
Smith, who won titles with the Cavaliers in 2016 and the Lakers in 2020, was chirping at Brunson, saying, 'You got ring fever now.'
Brunson added, 'There's a lot of people trying to distract me.'

The All-Star point guard helped lead the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference Finals since 2000 — and his strong performance forced a Game 6, which is set for Indianapolis on Saturday.
Brunson set the tone for New York early on, scoring the game's first three baskets with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting in the first quarter.

The Knicks looked like a completely different team just two nights after giving up 43 points in the first quarter of a 130-121 loss in Game 4.
'Our backs were against the wall. So, I mean, we've got to give it everything we got,' Brunson said after Game 5.
Emotions are heightened as this is a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference semifinals, which Indiana won in seven games.
The Pacers are on the brink of their second trip to the NBA Finals in franchise history.

Kevin Durant says he loves leadership in Houston, very happy with trade to Rockets
'They had a great season last year,' said Durant, who is close with Rockets head coach Ime Udoka. 'I love their leadership. I felt like I would be a good addition.' In an interview shortly after his trade was reported by ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania, All-Star forwrd Kevin Durant said he is 'very happy' and 'looking forward' to being part of the Houston Rockets. Durant found out about the blockbuster trade while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York. Shortly after leaving the stage, Durant spoke with reporter Kay Adams, who asked about his desire to join the Rockets. 'They had a great season (52-30, No. 2 in the Western Conference) last year,' said Durant, who has long respected head coach Ime Udoka. 'I love their leadership. I felt like I would be a good addition.' 'Crazy, crazy last couple weeks, but I'm glad it's over with,' Durant continued. 'I had an idea, but I didn't know exactly when it was gonna happen. I'm glad we kind of did this on stage, it worked out.' 'When people can just hang your career in the balance, and just choose what they wanna do with your career... it's a nerve-wracking feeling. But being able to kind of dictate what you want to do, and being with a team that values you, I'm looking forward to it.' Durant said he 'most definitely' had a hand in the trade, and he hopes it works out for both Houston and his former franchise in Phoenix. 'They got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted, so we can move on,' Durant said of the Suns. 'Good luck to them moving forward. I'll always remember my time there, but we're on to something else.' More: Rockets trade for Kevin Durant in deal involving Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, draft equity

Cubs-Pirates Linked In Shocking Trade Buzz For $5.9 Million Pitcher
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Chicago Cubs are one of the better teams in baseball right now, but they still need to find some upgrades across the roster if they want the best chance to win the National League pennant and the World Series. The Cubs need to upgrade their bullpen as much as any spot on their roster, and it's likely they will turn to the trade market to do so. FanSided's Christopher Kline recently suggested the Cubs could look to trade for Pittsburgh Pirates reliever David Bednar in a rare intra-divisional deal between two National League Central rivals. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JUNE 13: David Bednar #51 and Henry Davis #32 of the Pittsburgh Pirates celebrate their team's win against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on June 13, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JUNE 13: David Bednar #51 and Henry Davis #32 of the Pittsburgh Pirates celebrate their team's win against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on June 13, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois."After a cataclysmic 2024 season, David Bednar has returned to form for the Pittsburgh Pirates," Kline wrote. "He's not the perennial All-Star candidate he was a few years ago, but Bednar can pick up timely outs and miss a ton of bats with his blistering fastball and devastating curveball. "The Pirates have been resistant to Bednar trade overtures in the past, but with no path to contention and pennies to pinch for Bob Nutting, perhaps this is the season in which Ben Cherington and the front office relent. Sending Bednar to a division rival probably isn't on Pittsburgh's wishlist, but the Cubs offer a deep reservoir of quality prospects to dangle in trade talks." Bednar was once one of the top closers in the game of baseball, but he struggled early in the year. After getting off to a slow start, he's found his groove again, which makes him a very intriguing trade chip. The Cubs could part ways with a few top 30 prospects in order to land the veteran righty. Adding him to a bullpen with Ryan Pressly would be a dream come true, especially if the two can continue to trend in the right direction. Bednar would be the perfect combination of performance and affordability for the Cubs to swing a trade. More MLB: Phillies Predicted To Cut Ties With Struggling Young Catcher This Season
