Amer Sports reports a 23% revenue surge in Q1 2025, boosted by Asian market

Fashion Network22-05-2025

Outdoor lifestyle group Amer Sports maintained positive momentum from January to March in the first quarter of 2025, with revenue reaching $1.473 billion (1.3 billion euros), up 23% year-over-year (+26% at constant currency). The results were driven by a strong performance from its two flagship brands, Arc'teryx and Salomon.
Also the owner of Wilson, Peak Performance and Atomic, Amer Sports divides its revenue across three segments. The Technical Apparel division, led by Arc'teryx, posted a 28% increase to $664 million. The Outdoor Performance segment, driven by Salomon and its female-focused products, grew by 25% to $502 million. Meanwhile, the Ball & Racquet Sports division, which is heavily concentrated in Asia, rose by 12% to $306 million.
Revenue in Asia rises by over 40%
The group experienced growth across all global regions. The Americas region climbed from $415 million to $465 million (+12%), while the 'Greater China' zone (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) rose from $312 million to $446 million (+43%). In the Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) region, revenue grew by 12%, from $360 million to $405 million. The Asia-Pacific region (excluding 'Greater China') posted a particularly strong 49% increase, rising from $105 million to $157 million.
The Greater China region was a key topic during the company's analyst call on Tuesday, May 20. Salomon, known for its premium outdoor products, is gaining more customers in the market, especially with its footwear. Amer Sports plans to expand in China by shifting from wholesale to owned retail, opening 'larger stores.' Wilson also appears to hold strong potential in the region.
Regarding distribution channels, direct-to-consumer (DTC) saw the highest growth, reaching $693 million (+39% compared to Q1 2024). Wholesale rose by 12% in the same period to $780 million.
For the first quarter, Amer Sports reported net income of $135 million, a sharp increase from just $6.9 million in 2024. Its gross margin rose by 350 basis points to 57.8%.
Mitigating tariff impact
Following these results, the group raised its full-year forecast. Assuming stable U.S. tariffs, Amer Sports is now targeting 15–17% growth, up from 14–16% at the end of fiscal 2024.
Group CFO Andrew Page offered reassurance regarding tariff impacts: 'Given the mitigation strategies we've already implemented, we believe the impact of higher tariffs on our income statement will be negligible this year. And as we've said before, if strong trends continue and demand exceeds expectations, we believe we are well-positioned to deliver financial results above our current outlook.'
With products sold in more than 100 countries, Amer Sports employs 13,400 people worldwide and generated revenue of $5.2 billion in fiscal 2024.
