Who will win the Auburn Regional? D1Baseball weighs in
Who will win the Auburn Regional? D1Baseball weighs in Auburn has the tools to emerge victorious in this weekend's regional. Will they get it done?
Auburn baseball's postseason journey gets underway on Friday evening when it faces Central Connecticut at 6 p.m. CT at Plainsman Park in Auburn. The Tigers are gearing up to host its third regional in four years, and will look to advance to the Super Regionals for the fourth time since 2018.
Will they get the job done? D1Baseball dropped its predictions for each regional on Friday, including their picks for the Auburn Regional. According to D1Baseball's picks, Auburn has an 81% chance to emerge victorious in its regional this weekend. Nine members of D1Baseball's staff including Kendall Rogers and Mark Etheridge forecasted Auburn to win, with two members, Aaron Fitt and Bradley Smart, picking NC State.
Central Connecticut, Stetson, and NC State will each provide its own set of challenges for Auburn this weekend, but NC State's greatest quality will be its pitching. In its preview of the Auburn Regional, D1Baseball named NC State's starting rotation the best in the regional, with Dom Fritton being the most dominant pitcher in the staff with 102 strikeouts through 83 1/3 innings. The Tigers would miss Fritton should Auburn and NC State win its Friday games, as he is scheduled to pitch against Stetson in game one on Friday. Auburn would most likely face Ryan Marohn on Saturday, who boasts a team-low 3.72 ERA with 81 punchouts.
How will Auburn combat the Wolfpack's elite pitching staff? In terms of offense and defense, the Tigers have the edge. D1Baseball gave Auburn the title of best offensive and defensive team in the regional. Offensively, five players are hitting above .300, three players have double-digit home run totals, and eight players have 30-or-more RBI. Defensively, D1Baseball highlights the sneaky good team Auburn has in the field.
Though it's not necessarily a team you think of when you think about electric defensive players, Auburn is the best defensive team in this regional, as it has a .982 fielding percentage and no player on the roster with more than eight errors on the season. They might not be the team that turns in the most acrobatic play during the weekend, but they're the team most likely to make every single routine play.

Watch the three most important plays from LSU baseball's national championship win
LSU baseball finished off Coastal Carolina in two games during the College World Series finals to win the eighth national championship in program history. From Charles Schwab Stadium in Omaha, the Tigers came from behind on Sunday and never looked back. They got six strong innings from starting pitcher Anthony Eyanson and relied on Chase Shores to dial up his fastball down the stretch. Ethan Frey had another big day at the plate, collecting three hits and driving in one run. Derek Curiel and Chris Stanfield each finished with two RBI. Seven of LSU's nine batters had a hit, helping to chase Coastal Carolina starting pitcher Jacob Morrison to the dugout midway through the fourth inning. The Chanticleers, who dealt with first-inning ejections of their head coach and first base coach, jumped on top early with a solo home run in the second. They clubbed another homer in the seventh but would get no closer. Here are the top three plays from LSU baseball's national championship win over Coastal Carolina. Ethan Frey's early RBI double Facing an early deficit, the Tigers needed to crawl back quickly to turn the momentum. Ethan Frey stepped to the plate with two outs in the top of the third inning and crushed a double to the left field wall. Derek Curiel scored easily from second base to tie the contest at one run apiece. Curiel delivers clutch hit to extend lead All season long, Curiel remained disciplined at the plate during high-leverage at-bats. The true freshman produced again, this time with two outs and two runners in scoring position. He roped a 1-0 pitch back up the middle to score two runs in the top of the fourth inning, giving the Tigers a 5-1 lead. Eyanson gets out of a jam with strikeout As it did in the first game, Coastal Carolina got plenty of traffic on the base paths throughout Sunday's contest. With two outs and two runners on, Ty Dooley stepped to the plate to face Eyanson. The right-hander got him to chase a 1-2 slider in the dirt to end the inning without giving up a run.

Detroit native wide receiver gets offer from Michigan State football following camp
After a great conversation with @CoachHawk_5 and @Coach_Smith I 'm blessed to receive an offer from MSU @ryanobleness @RyanSnyderOn3 @MIexposure @MichFBFrenzy @AllenTrieu @DetKingFootball @KC_CoachTP @coachb_walker @On3sports @SamWebb77 @On3Recruits @adamgorney @MarcSutherland_… While Michigan State football has hosted 2026 prospects on official visits over the course of the month of June, in the background, the Spartans have also been hosting camps for underclassmen prospects and prospects looking to earn themselves an offer. On Sunday, the Spartans were hosting a 7-on-7 tournament, where various teams from within the state, and around the country, made their way to East Lansing looking to show themselves off to the MSU coaching staff. One local prospect, a Detroit native that plays for Martin Luther King High School, earned an offer through his performance on Sunday. Don Spillers was the recipient of the offer. A 6-foot-2, 195 pound wide receiver, he has not been ranked by 247Sports as a member of the 2027 recruiting class. Spillers owns additional notable offers from Maryland and Michigan.
