250 homes on govt radar for building code violations in Gurgaon's Sushant Lok 3
Gurgaon: Department of town and country planning (DTCP) has intensified its crackdown on unauthorised constructions and illegal commercial activities in residential colonies under its 'office on the spot' campaign.
A 12-member enforcement team, led by district town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia, has served notices to nearly 250 houses in Sushant Lok 3 for violating building norms and land use regulations. Madholia said, "We have asked for a reply within seven days. If responses from these 250 properties are unsatisfactory, restoration orders will be issued followed by sealing actions."
The notices were served on Friday following a detailed six-hour-long survey in A, B and C blocks.
During the survey, DTCP teams clicked photographic evidence and signed notices on-site to speed up the legal process. Madholia told TOI, "The objective of this campaign is to address multiple complaints in one go by surveying entire blocks, thereby saving time and ensuring faster enforcement."
During the inspection, officials identified several residential properties being misused for commercial purposes such as real estate offices, guest houses, beauty parlours, dental clinics, yoga centres and salons.
Alongside, numerous cases of unauthorised construction were found, including rooms built in stealth parking areas, servant quarters in zoning areas, covered cut-outs and illegal structures erected on rooftops.
The initiative follows similar action in Sushant Lok 2 last week, where around 150 properties were served notices.
Many homeowners have since started removing unauthorised structures, particularly those created in parking zones.
DCTP officials said strict directions have been given to residents against any deviation from approved building plans.
DTCP already took similar action in DLF 1 to 5 and is now widening its net to other residential areas witnessing growing commercial activity.
According to Madholia, this misuse not only violates zoning regulations but also disrupts the residential character and infrastructure of these colonies. The department has clarified that no illegal construction or commercial operation in residential premises will be tolerated.
Officials have urged residents to either stop commercial operations or regularise constructions as per norms.
Those who fail to comply face sealing, fines, or even demolition orders in the coming weeks.

Teacher ends life, husband & in-laws held
Pune: The Ambegaon police arrested a 31-year-old kindergarten teacher's husband (35), his mother and his sister on charges of abetting the teacher's death by suicide. As of now, all the arrested three are lodged in the Yerawada jail under judicial custody following the end of their initial custodial remand, senior inspector Sharad Zine of Ambegaon police said. The woman, along with her six-year-old son, jumped off the terrace of their five-storied building in a society at Ambegaon Pathar, where the couple had rented a flat, resulting in the death of both on June 18. A note purportedly written by the deceased teacher, using a lipstick, blamed the sister-in-law for harassment, police said. Zine told TOI, "We arrested the husband and the two in-laws based on a complaint lodged by the victim's brother (24) from Khamgaon in Buldhana alleging that his sister was being subjected to physical and mental torture ever since her marriage in 2018. Her husband works with a bank." Zine cited the complaint and said, "The victim's mother-in-law and sister-in-law would frequently harass her over various domestic issues, like cooking, dressing, and others and would pass objectionable comments on her. They also harassed her for Rs 50,000. She then decided to shift to Pune so that she could avoid harassment by her in-laws. However, the mother-in-law and sister-in-law would visit the couple at regular intervals and continued with their harassment. Driven to despair, the woman decided to end her life along with that of her son's." Police have registered a case for offences punishable under sections 108 (abetment of suicide), 351 (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult), and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of BNS.

ED may chargesheet Robert Vadra soon
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to file its final prosecution complaint (equivalent to chargesheet) in three money laundering cases allegedly involving businessman Robert Vadra within the next three months. Following these filings, the federal agency will push for court cognisance to kickstart trials against Vadra and co-accused, people in the know told ET. The ED's investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) will also lead to the confiscation of properties allegedly acquired with illicit funds in these cases. Vadra, also husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, in April this year was questioned in connection with a money laundering probe related to a land deal in Shikohpur, Haryana. Agency sources confirm his questioning in the Haryana land deal is complete. He has been summoned for questioning in a money laundering case linked to UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari and will soon face a final round of questioning in the Bikaner land deal case as well, people in the know told ET. Vadra has consistently denied the accusations, labelling them a political witch hunt and accusing the BJP of political vendetta. Live Events Haryana Land Deal The Haryana land deal case dates back to a 2018 FIR against then-Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Vadra, and real estate firms DLF and Onkareshwar Properties. It's alleged that in February 2008, Vadra's Skylight Hospitality, launched with ₹1 lakh capital, purchased 3.5 acres in Manesar-Shikohpur for ₹7.5 crore. The land's title was reportedly transferred to Vadra within 24 hours. A month later, the Hooda-led Haryana government allegedly permitted Skylight Hospitality to develop a housing project, significantly increasing the land's value. In June 2008, DLF reportedly agreed to buy the plot for ₹58 crore, allegedly resulting in substantial gains for Vadra. Bikaner Land Deal In the Bikaner land deal, Vadra is accused of making a 615% profit by purchasing 275 bighas for ₹72 lakh and selling it for a significantly higher amount. The ED questioned Vadra and his mother about this probe in 2019. An ET report from January 2020 indicated that the ED concluded Vadra and his company, M/s Skylight Hospitality, did not conduct proper due diligence in purchasing two land parcels in Bikaner, and cheques were issued to 'land owners' solely at the 'behest of' a company's representative. Sanjay Bhandari Link The third case is linked to alleged arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari. The ED's 2023 chargesheet claims Bhandari acquired a London property at 12 Bryanston Square in 2009 and renovated it "as per the directions of Robert Vadra, who provided the funds for the renovation." Vadra has denied any direct or indirect ownership of London property.

Three arrested, minor detained for killing bizman over money dispute
Pune: The Pune Rural police have arrested three men and detained their minor accomplice (17), all from Khalapur in Raigad district, on charges of strangling their friend (35) while travelling back to Khalapur from Mulshi in a car on June 17 and disposing off the body in a forest land at Dudhiware Khind near Lonavla. On June 17, Shaikh's wife had lodged a missing person's complaint with the Khalapur police after her husband did not return home. "The complainant told us that her husband had gone for an outing in Mulshi taluka with his friends," an officer from the Khalapur police told TOI. Investigations revealed that Shaikh had gone with Yadav, Chavan, More and the minor. Police identified the deceased as Hanif Ali Shaikh, who ran a tiles fitting business in Khalapur. The deceaced had a financial dispute with one of the assailants while the group of friends was on an outing near Pirangut in Mulshi of Pune district on June 16 and 17. This led to the murder, police said, adding that the exact cause of monetary dispute was being ascertained. "Two of the assailants, Shubham Yadav (25) and Amar More (22), were arrested and their minor accomplice was detained on June 19 while the main suspect, Ashish Chavan, was arrested on Saturday," assistant inspector Prashant Aware of the Lonavla Rural police told TOI. "Chavan has criminal cases to his name while Yadav and More work with a fast food joint and a CCTV camera supplier, respectively, in Khalapur. The minor, on the other hand, cleared his Std XII board exam recently," the officer said. "The arrested men are in police custody till June 25 while the minor was referred to an observation home," the officer added. The Khalapur police officer said, "We summoned Yadav for questioning and this gave us our first breakthrough as under intense grilling, he revealed that Shaikh and Chavan had a dispute over money on June 17 near Pirangut after they had reached Mulshi on June 16 for an overnight stay. Yadav told us that the two attacked each other with hammers, prompting the other friends to intervene and they all decided to return to Khalapur. On their way back, the group strangled Shaikh with a shirt and later disposed off his body in the forest land in Maval." "We then alerted Lonavla Rural police and traced Shaikh's body near Dudhiware Khind. His limbs were tied, and his face was covered with a towel. Shaikh's wife identified the body. After that, a case of murder was registered with the Lonavla Rural police," the officer said.
