Lisa Kudrow says her Friends character Phoebe ‘was so far from who I am'
The 61-year-old from Los Angeles played one of six friends featured in the hit US sitcom which also starred Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt Le Blanc and the late Matthew Perry.
Speaking to US actress Parker Posey for Variety's Actors On Actors series, she said: 'It (the series) was fun the whole time, because we had fun, the cast had fun.
'It was like a collaboration with the writers, because they were so great and nice and good.
'But me being Phoebe was so far from who I was as a human being that it was work.
'I needed to justify everything she was saying in my head so that it felt like she meant it and it was real to her. It was a lot of work.
'And I remember like season two or three, and I was just doing it, and went, 'Oh my god, I'm not doing the work. I don't know if this is going as well. I'm not doing the work'.
'I was really fretting over it. And (Matt) LeBlanc went, 'What's the matter with you?'. I said, 'I'm not doing the work that I did. I used to like really work, and he said, 'You're her. You don't have to do it anymore'.'
Alongside her role in Friends, Kudrow is known for starring in a number of TV series as well as comedy films Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and The Opposite Of Sex.
In 2023 she thanked her late co-star Perry for 'the best 10 years a person gets to have' while filming Friends in a tribute following his death at the age of 54.
During their conversation, Posey, who has starred in films including Dazed And Confused and Superman Returns, spoke about one of her more recent roles playing a southern woman called Victoria Ratliff in season three of Mike White's dark comedy, The White Lotus.
She said: 'It was such a gift to have this middle-aged woman at this time in my life, in my career, to be the southern woman.
'I was reading Tennessee Williams in junior high and high school and southern writers and all of this. So I was like, I just ate it up.'

Danny Boyle recalls 'nightmare' trying to film naked zombies for 28 Years Later
Director Danny Boyle has admitted it was a "nightmare" filming naked zombies for his new horror movie, 28 Years Later. The moviemaker has stepped back into the director's chair to helm the new horror - written by Alex Garland - 23 years after the pair's first film, 28 Days Later, hit cinemas. And Danny has revealed they needed to take extra care not to have "naked" actors on the set because they had strict rules in place to protect the film's child star, Alfie Williams. Speaking to PEOPLE, Danny explained: "I mean, if you're recently infected [with the zombie virus], you'd have some clothes, but if you've been infected for a long time, the clothes would just disintegrate with the way that you behave. "We never knew that [about rules governing nudity on set when there's a child present] going in, it was a nightmare." Danny went on to explain the work-around they came up with, adding: "Interestingly, because there was a 12-year-old boy on set, you're not allowed for anybody to be naked, not really naked, so they look naked, but it's all prosthetics... "So it's like: 'Oh my God,' so we had to make everybody prosthetic genitals'." Danny revealed he was keen to push boundaries with the elements of nudity and gore in the film and he's glad studio bosses were supportive of his plans. He told Variety: "I think one of the wonderful things about horror is that you're expected to maximise the impact of your story. Everybody wants to do that with a drama, with the romance, whatever. "But with horror, it's obviously gonna be brutal, some of it. What we loved was setting it against an innocence that's represented by the various children in it, and also the landscape, the beauty of the landscape, the nature. "Having those two forces stretches your story as far as you can go, if you maximise them. That was our principle and the studio was supportive of that, of course they were." 28 Years Later hit Irish cinemas on Friday and a fourth film in the series, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - directed by Nia DaCosta with Danny as a producer - has already been shot ahead of a planned January 2026 launch date. However, the Trainspotting moviemaker hopes to be back in the directing chair if the final movie is given the green light. The series was created by Alex Garland - who wrote the screenplays for all the films except for second instalment 28 Weeks Later - and started with Cillian Murphy's character Jim, who awakes from a coma to discover Britain has been plagued by a terrible pandemic known as the Rage Virus, which turns those affected turn into murderous zombies. Cillian makes a brief appearance in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and is due to be given a bigger role in the untitled follow-up, but Alex Garland has revealed there's still no script for the next month. He told Variety: "The script isn't written. It's strange: There's a story, there's a plan, there's a structure... So short answer: I've got the idea, I've got the plan, but there's not a script. I'm waiting to see what happens, I suppose."

Judge allows Baldoni access to Swift-Lively texts
A US judge has ruled that Justin Baldoni may access private text messages between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift relating to the film It Ends With Us, rejecting Lively's bid to keep them confidential. Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled on 18 June that the messages are "reasonably tailored to discover information that would prove or disprove Lively's harassment and retaliation claims" against Baldoni, despite Lively's argument that they were being used for public relations purposes, according to Variety. He also imposed a protective order to prevent their contents from leaking to the press. Lively had asked the judge to prevent access to the messages, arguing Baldoni was "dragging Taylor Swift into the saga" as a distraction. Her legal team emphasised in court filings that Swift had no relevant role in the film beyond contributing a song to its soundtrack. Baldoni's team had previously subpoenaed Swift and her legal advisers, but later withdrew the request after Swift's attorneys objected. Undeterred, they continued pursuing the communications through the discovery process. The development follows several other legal rulings in the It Ends With Us dispute. In June, Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others, while allowing Lively's original harassment claims to move forward. A trial is set for March 2026. A spokesperson for Lively told People that she has "produced far more documents in this case" and accused Baldoni's publicists of trying to use Swift's celebrity to distract from the serious allegations against him. Baldoni's attorneys are yet to comment.
