Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge durability test ends in a surprising result
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge just went on sale, and that means it was time to see how well it stands up to Zack from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything and his gadget-breaking durability test.
After the mandatory comparison between the S25 Edge's thin frame and various household objects (plus the less-mandatory spattering the phone with ice cream), Zack's video begins the dissection process with his mineral picks, in order to figure out how scratch-resistant the display is.
The Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 material Samsung uses still scratches at the same Moh hardness levels as other flagship phones with different Gorilla Glass displays — light marks at level 6 and deeper ones at level 7.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also withstands 30 seconds of flame from a lighter. Hopefully, your phone won't be exposed to fire like this, but it's good reassurance to have all the same.
But we were all waiting for one thing in this video: the bend test. It's surprising how many phones fail to survive an attempt to fold it in half, given how thin modern phones can be. I'll admit I was nervous for the Galaxy S25 Edge as Zack prepared to snap the phone like he was breaking off a chunk of chocolate.
However, likely due to the Galaxy S25 Edge's titanium construction, the phone barely even flexed. A small panel gap opened up when bending the phone from the front, but nothing broke, leaving the phone still operable. Although, you'd probably still want to take it in for repairs to ensure the phone remains IP68 water resistant.
So, durability fortunately seems to not be an issue for the Galaxy S25 Edge, especially with the help of the best Galaxy S25 Edge cases for additional peace of mind and defence against scratches. However, it's only one consideration to make when looking at buying Samsung's new thin flagship.

You may well like the look and feel of this light-but-large Galaxy phone, or its big and bright display, or its AI powers. But bear in mind that the small frame has led to a shorter-than-average battery life, one fewer camera than other S25 models and slow charging speeds despite the price of the phone. Similar to the prompt above, this will work through the document, offering some bullet points on the most important parts of the document. This will often include facts and figures, findings or an overall objective from the PDF. This can also be expanded to ask the same question but on specific chapters of a noticeably long PDF. This is an especially useful prompt for PDFs that feature a lot of quotes. Whether its for a research paper you're working on or if you're trying to find quotes to support a marketing plan, this can scan through a whole PDF looking for quotes. More importantly, if there is a ridiculous amount of text to work through, you can use this prompt more specifically. For example, 'Find quotes that are positive about the product from people in senior positions'. You can also ask ChatGPT where these quotes come from so you can go back and confirm all of the wording and attribution is correct. A prompt that can be a little hit and miss. "Extract all figures, tables and charts, explaining each" will do as it says. However, this is reliant on all of these tables and figures being readable to ChatGPT. If there is a table that has been photocopied or is in a particularly confusing infographic, it could be easily missed. However, in my time using this prompt, I have rarely seen it make a mistake. You can also ask ChatGPT to take the information and put it into tables of your own or compile all of the information gathered into one document. Why limit yourself to just the PDF you're reading? Ask ChatGPT to examine the internet for supporting articles and ChatGPT will provide a document of supporting content. Along with condensing all of this information into the chat, it will also provide links to important sources to follow up on. It is crucial to double check any information that comes from this. Because you are asking ChatGPT to directly check the internet and compare it to a PDF, it can cause some hallucinations in the crossover. A lot of the prompts above will extract information from a PDF, but they will do so in bullet points and summarized phrases. This one on the other hand will create a written report explaining everything that is in there. Simply ask ChatGPT to 'explain the PDF to me.' You can add extra information such as explaining it in simple terms or explaining it for someone focused on marketing to pick up key details. I have found a lot of success with the prompt 'Read through the PDF and become an expert in it. Then, explain it to me as an expert on the information.' This takes away the conversational tone and focuses on the importance of the information.

Adaptive Power in iOS 26 Could Save the iPhone 17 Air From This Major Pitfall
There's one feature Apple unveiled during WWDC on Monday that didn't get the attention I think it deserves: Adaptive Power. This AI-powered feature can help your iPhone battery last longer by lowering your display's brightness and making "small performance adjustments" like "allowing some activities to take a little longer," according to Apple. It'll also turn on Low Power Mode automatically when your battery drops to 20% to limit background activities and further extend battery life. Adaptive Power can come in clutch no matter what phone you have (as long as it can run iOS 26), but where it really has the potential to be a game-changer is with the rumored iPhone 17 Air. Apple's thinner iPhone is expected to debut in the fall, though the company has yet to confirm reports about its imminent arrival. A skinny iPhone would join the ranks of other slim phones like Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge and the Oppo Find N5, which both came out earlier this year. And on Monday, hot on the heels of WWDC, Samsung also shared a teaser about its upcoming Galaxy Z foldable series, calling it "the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet." Thin phones can come across as gimmicky (who asked for them, really?), but they're undoubtedly having a moment as companies look for new ways to lure your dollars. After using devices like the Galaxy S25 Edge and Oppo Find N5, I can attest that holding a slim, lightweight phone is quite refreshing, and I'm eager to see what Apple has in store. But there's also a major downside to building a phone with such a slim profile, as I experienced recently with the S25 Edge: Battery life takes a hit. Samsung's entry-level Galaxy Watch 7 has returned to its best price to date
I jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon a bit late, but now I can't go a day without mine. Beyond delivering helpful notifications, it's perfect for setting timers, tracking workouts, and monitoring my sleeping habits (which are terrible). If you haven't yet joined the smartwatch party or you're looking to upgrade, Samsung's Galaxy Watch 7 is down to $199.99 ($100 off) in the 40mm / Bluetooth configuration at Amazon and Walmart. If you prefer a larger display, the 44mm model is on sale at Amazon starting at $229.99 ($100 off). The Galaxy Watch 7 adds a faster processor and a new 3-in-1 BioActive sensor. It's an iterative update, but it's more comfortable for sleep tracking than the Galaxy Watch Ultra. While the Galaxy Watch 7 isn't as flashy as other Samsung wearables, its more simplistic approach is part of its charm. It retains the signature circular design and slim profile of prior models, which remains a stark contrast to the adventure-ready Galaxy Watch Ultra. It's comfortable to wear while sleeping and working out — as our own Victoria Song noted in her review last year — and it comes with a selection of welcome features, including heart rate tracking, an Energy Score for gauging recovery, and FDA-approved sleep apnea detection. One of the new marquee tools of the Watch 7 is its AI-powered wellness insights, which provide personalized suggestions to help you hit your health and fitness goals. There's also a 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor that can measure metabolic health thanks to an experimental advanced glycation end products (AGEs) metric, though both features were rather hit or miss in our testing. Of course, the wearable also offers a range of basic smartwatch features, such as the ability to stream music, send texts, and take calls when your phone is nearby. Despite its slimmer design, the Watch 7 offers around 24 hours of battery life with the always-on display enabled, though if you upgrade to the 44mm Watch 7, you can eke out a few additional hours. Samsung's wearable also runs Wear OS 5, as of now, though we're expecting the Gemini-powered Wear OS 6 to arrive via an update later this year. All that being said, the timing of these deals could indicate that a Galaxy Watch 8 is on the horizon. Samsung typically holds an Unpacked event in mid-July, and this year it may introduce a refreshed lineup of foldable and wearable devices.
