First biogas plant for waste management unveiled on World Environment Day in Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar
ULHASNAGAR: On the occasion of
World Environment Day
today, the first Waste Management Bio Gas Plant in Ulhasnagar city was unveiled by the city's BJP MLA, Kumar Ailani, and BJP Ulhasnagar District President, Rajesh Vadhrya.
This bio gas plant was built by the developer in a private Regency Antilia complex. The waste from hundreds of flat holders living in the complex will no longer go to the municipal corporation's dumping site.
Instead, it will be processed in this bio gas plant built within the complex. Through this process, bio gas and electricity will be produced, which will be used to operate the plant and meet the electricity needs for other utility services installed in the complex.
Mahesh Agrawal, Chairman of Regency Group, said that this plant is the first bio gas plant in Ulhasnagar city. Through it, they will collect the wet waste from the houses in their complex, where thousands of people live, and process it to make bio gas and electricity.
Vadhrya stated that this plant can process 4,000 kg of waste per day. The gas generated will run the entire plant, and 200 to 250 units of electricity will be generated daily, allowing the utilities inside the complex to run efficiently. Additionally, cow shed dung located in the complex will also be used to produce gas in this plant.
BJP MLA Kumar Ailani appealed to other housing complexes in the city to come forward and install such plants to save the environment.

State wants global architects for Maha Vista, to float fresh tender
MUMBAI: The response to the state's grand plan for a Maha Vista has not been 'maha' enough. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance government will therefore float a fresh tender, inviting architects from all over the world to submit designs for a makeover of the Mantralaya precinct in South Mumbai. The idea is to redevelop the precinct on the lines of the Central Vista in New Delhi. Mantralaya building. Chief engineer Ranjeet Rahane said, 'The tender we floated earlier drew a response from just three Indian architects. The government wants more architects, and global ones. So we will be issuing another tender.'' Plans to completely remodel the Mantralaya precinct, in the offing for a long time, began to take shape in February last year, when deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar announced the Maha Vista project in his budget speech. With the space crunch at the secretariat assuming alarming proportions, and given that the building itself is more than 60 years old, the government plans to redevelop the secretariat and annex; the iconic Vidhan Bhavan, or state legislature; and the row of British-era ministerial bungalows on Madam Cama Road opposite the secretariat. After the Mantralaya fire in 2012, several government departments such as medical education, public health, rural development and water supply have been operating from independent premises. Currently, the secretariat is undergoing major renovations to accommodate the ballooning staff of the ministers, many of whom have been assigned cabins being built in the corridors. The row of colonial-era ministerial bungalows opposite Mantralaya too will be razed, making way for residential towers to accommodate IAS officers and ministers. They will be equipped with modern amenities and adequate parking facilities. Since the precinct is defined by art deco norms, the rules are likely to be tweaked so that the towers align with the area's architectural identity. Since colonial times, the area where the ministerial bungalows stand and its periphery were marked for a garden. Over time, the Mahatma Gandhi Garden was developed near the LIC Building, while part of the space opposite was developed into Jawaharlal Nehru Garden. The rest was taken over to build the state BJP office, and other offices for political parties.

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday showered praises on the Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP govt in Odisha for its achievements over the past year while criticising the previous govts for not doing enough for the state and its people. Speaking at an event here to mark one year of the BJP govt in Odisha, PM Modi said, "In the past year, Odisha has embraced the mantra of both vikas (development) and virasat (heritage) and has moved forward rapidly." Modi, who inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore, pointed out that development of entire eastern India, including Odisha, gained momentum after the BJP govt came to power in the state a year ago. He also said that from Paradip to Jajpur, the industrial sector is expanding in the state. "This is benefiting the minerals and port economy in Odisha. The state is rapidly moving towards becoming India's petrochemical hub," the PM said. Modi, who released the Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 documents prepared by the state govt, appreciated the fact that the BJP govt is not limited to just one year's achievements or thinking about five years. "It is working on what will happen in Odisha's development road map for the coming decades. The state govt has made a special plan for when Odisha will be 100 years old in 2036. The govt also has a road map for 2047, when the country completes 100 years of independence," he said. Adding that many challenges have been identified, the PM said, "I have firm faith.
