'Maine dekha ki...' This star once make SHOCKING revelations about Sushant Singh Rajput's death, felt it was only..., his name is...

In the glitzy yet sensitive world of Indian cinema, some names are known not just for their creative genius but also for the storms they occasionally stir. One such celebrated filmmaker, who once collaborated with the late Sushant Singh Rajput on a project that still resonates with fans, found himself in the eye of a public outrage. His words, intended or misinterpreted, sparked widespread backlash, opening old wounds and raising questions about respect, timing, and empathy. Bollywood Director… Here we are talking about director Dibakar Banerjee, who is a well-known Indian director, producer, and screenwriter. Before entering the film industry, he worked in advertising for a long time as a copywriter, creating commercials for major brands. In 2006, he made his directorial debut with the film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla,' featuring powerful actors like Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. With this film, Dibakar demonstrated his ability to convey significant themes with simplicity. It was well-received by audiences and won the National Award for Best Hindi Film in 2007. However, Dibakar's name has also been associated with controversy. He drew media attention for his film 'LSD 2,' but an even bigger uproar occurred when he commented on the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. His remarks angered many, leading to social media backlash and trolling. The Time When Dibakar Gave His Opinion On Sushant Singh Rajput In a YouTube interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dibakar expressed his views on Sushant's death, stating that people were more interested in sensational gossip rather than genuinely mourning the loss. He noted, 'When Sushant died, there was a lot of speculation in the news regarding the cause of his death. I needed to distance myself from it all. I was listening to everything, lekin tab maine dekha ki log bas masaledar gossip hi dhundh rahe the, maine kisi ko bhi nahi dekha shok ya uske liye gham manaate hue. There was no conversation about how a young actor had passed away. Everyone was more focused on conspiracy theories—who provided drugs to Sushant, who was responsible for his death. Where were the tributes? Where were the discussions about the impact of his films? Those who genuinely loved him should have held screenings of his movies and talked about them.'

'Exclusively in theatres': Bollywood tests new methods to release movies

Bollywood is trying out various scripts to lure audiences back to the big screen. This comes as the rising dominance of over-the-top (OTT) platforms makes it difficult for movies to run for long periods on the silver screen, thus hurting the cinema industry. The latest attempt is by Aamir Khan, who decided to release his film, Sitaare Zameen Par, exclusively in theatres. On Thursday, Multiplex Association of India (MAI) applauded Aamir Khan's decision to release the film exclusively in theatres. This comes after some media reports said that the much-awaited movie is expected to be released on YouTube through a pay-per-view model after its theatre release, and not on OTT platforms. According to a film trade analyst, it is still not confirmed if the RS Prasanna-directed sequel to Taare Zameen Par will be released on YouTube. On the other hand, Girish Wankhede, film trade analyst, said it is highly unlikely for any other movie to be released on YouTube. Selling the rights of movies to streaming platforms helps producers recover a certain amount of their invested budget on the film. Through YouTube, the chances of recovering this money are unlikely. He further noted that Sitaare Zameen Par isn't a mass-audience film like Dangal or PK. These had the possibility of working well on a popular platform like YouTube. While select movies like Chhaava and Raid 2 performed well at the box office (BO), some high-profile ones like Salman Khan's Sikandar, Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, and the latest being Sajid Nadiadwala-produced Housefull 5 have failed to attract the desired footfalls and BO numbers. 'Housefull 5 was not successful because the cost of production was too high (around ₹250 crore). It will, at the most, make around ₹170 crore…Still, the film is in loss,' said Wankhede. After the opening weekend, the movie has seen a spike in its BO collection due to the ticket price offers on Tuesdays. In May, the producers (Maddock Films) of Rajkummar Rao-starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf had suddenly decided to release the movie directly on Amazon Prime Video, which was later released in theatres due to a court order. This order came after PVR INOX took Maddock Films to court for changing its decision to release the movie in theatres. The cumulative BO collection for January-May was up by 27 per cent to ₹4,812 crore compared to the same period last year, according to an Ormax Media report. These attempts by the industry come at a time when film producers are still in a 'wait-and-watch' mode and are thinking twice before starting to work on movies. This comes as several films have not made money at the BO. Some have not even recovered their costs.

22 Years Of Jhankaar Beats: How Bollywood Redefined Brotherhood Through Emotionally Rich Friendships

As Jhankaar Beats completes 22 years, it marks not just the anniversary of a cult classic, but also a pivotal moment in Bollywood's evolution—when male friendships moved beyond machismo and action into spaces of vulnerability, emotional honesty, and lifelong bonding. From the early 2000s onwards, a wave of films began exploring the depth, complexities, and quiet power of brotherhood through friendship. Here are five standout films that led this emotional revolution: Jhankaar Beats (2003) Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, this slice-of-life film broke the stereotype of the stoic male hero. It followed Deep and Rishi—two ad executives balancing work, crumbling marriages, and fatherhood—bonding over their shared love for R.D. Burman. Through music, laughter, and honest conversations, Jhankaar Beats portrayed friendship as therapy, capturing how male bonds can be messy, supportive, and emotionally rich. Even today, it resonates as a quiet anthem for friends who've held each other through life's chaos. Dil Chahta Hai (2001) This Farhan Akhtar directorial changed the language of urban male friendship in cinema. Akash, Sameer, and Sid were flawed, distinct, and didn't always agree—but their bond remained unbreakable. Whether dealing with heartbreak, ambition, or creative differences, the trio's journey showed that real brotherhood isn't about being the same—it's about showing up, even when it's hard. The film redefined friendship for an entire generation and remains a cultural touchstone. Rang De Basanti (2006) Friendship takes a radical turn in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti. What starts as college camaraderie among DJ, Karan, Sukhi, Aslam, and others transforms into a passionate crusade for justice after a personal tragedy. Their collective grief becomes a powerful engine for activism, and their friendship evolves into a deeper sense of brotherhood—one rooted in shared pain, moral conviction, and sacrifice. Kai Po Che! (2013) Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, this Abhishek Kapoor film chronicled the friendship of Ishaan, Omi, and Govind amidst Gujarat's political and communal turbulence. The story revealed how ambition, religion, and betrayal can strain even the strongest friendships—but also how love, forgiveness, and shared history can sometimes offer redemption. Kai Po Che! portrayed brotherhood as fragile yet resilient, painting a realistic picture of how friendships endure—or don't—under pressure. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) Zoya Akhtar's road-trip drama turned a bachelor vacation into a soulful journey of healing, fear-conquering, and reconnection. Arjun, Kabir, and Imran, each battling inner conflicts, learn to confront their past, open up, and support each other's growth. Their bond strengthens not through shared jokes alone, but through emotional exposure and vulnerability. ZNMD redefined male friendship by proving that empathy and emotional courage are just as masculine as strength and success. A Legacy of Friendship That Lasts Each of these films—from Jhankaar Beats to ZNMD—paved the way for a more nuanced portrayal of male friendships in Indian cinema. They moved beyond the macho to explore emotional intimacy, forgiveness, loyalty, and growth. Whether through laughter or loss, fights or forgiveness, these stories remind us that the friends who walk beside us through life's toughest moments are more than friends — they're chosen family.
