Orioles' Rutschman out until after All-Star break, Westburg has a sprained left index finger

NEW YORK — Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman likely will be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of a strained left oblique, and infielder Jordan Westburg will be out for at least a few days because of a sprained left index finger sustained even though he wore a sliding mitt. Rutschman felt pain during batting practice on Friday and was scratched. He had an MRI on Saturday. 'He feels something small right there. We all know abdominal and oblique injuries, if you push those things, you can get really ugly. Instead of being three, four weeks, it could be three months,' interim manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday. 'He's kind of going stir crazy. I think the fact that it is mild in nature probably makes it a little harder for him,' Mansolino added. 'They went and got an MRI. They checked it out, which validated that. In his mind, he probably thinks he can possibly go out there, but obviously we know medically that's not the smart thing to do for him right now.' On the injured list for the first time in his big league career, Rutschman is hitting .227 with eight homers and 20 RBIs in 68 games. Westburg injured the finger while stealing second base in Saturday's 9-0 loss to the New York Yankees. 'Actually the sliding mitt that's supposed to protect his hand, that's the one that he did it,' interim manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday. 'Doesn't know how he did it. It's been the same mitt that he's used for a couple years, talking about it this morning. Kind of crazy that he hurt his finger. That's what those things are for.' Westburg missed more than a month with a left hamstring strain before returning on June 10. The 26-year-old is hitting .229 with seven homers and 17 RBIs in 34 games this season. He had 10 hits in his first 25 at-bats before going hitless in his next 14. 'It's sore this morning. We're hoping it's two to three days. If it gets to be longer, then it'll be another conversation at that point,' Mansolino said. 'The X-rays were negative, so it's not fractured. That's the positive. So nothing catastrophic by any means.' Westburg hit .264 with 18 homers and 63 RBIs last year, becoming a first-time All-Star. First baseman Ryan Mountcastle (strained right hamstring) also is on the injured list along with outfielders Tyler O'Neill (left shoulder impingement) and Jorge Mateo (left shoulder inflammation). Right-hander Yannier Cano was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk after striking out the side in the seventh inning Saturday, and right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo was recalled from the Tides on Sunday. 'It starts ultimately with the amount of innings that we've had covered here recently with the bullpen,' Mansolino said. 'We need a fresh arm. You have limited amount of bullpen guys that have options.'

James Harden Bluntly Reacts To Fan Telling Him To Win A Championship

James Harden Bluntly Reacts To Fan Telling Him To Win A Championship originally appeared on Fadeaway World. James Harden was just one of the many big names present at the Fanatics Fest at New York's Javits Center on Saturday. Harden was speaking on the stage at one point when a fan surprisingly yelled at him to win a championship. Advertisement "I will, I'm trying," Harden said. A championship is the only thing missing from Harden's resume. The 35-year-old has won an MVP, three scoring titles, and two assists titles in his 16 seasons in the NBA. Harden has also made 11 All-Star and eight All-NBA teams, and was voted into the NBA's 75th Anniversary team. For all of Harden's success, though, he has developed a reputation for being a playoff dropper. He has come up short one too many times in the postseason by now, and that was the case this year as well. Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers faced off against the Denver Nuggets in a thrilling first-round series in 2025. The series would go the distance, and the Clippers were given a shot at winning Game 7 in Denver. That much-anticipated clash would end up being a dud, though. Advertisement The Nuggets blew out the Clippers 120-101, and Harden was a no-show. He had just seven points (2-8 FG), five rebounds, 13 assists, two steals, and one block on the night. The defeat led to Harden becoming the first player in NBA history to lose a Game 7 with four different teams. While you can't always blame a player for a team's shortcomings, it's not unfair to point the finger at the guard. Harden averages 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in Game 7s in his career. He struggles with efficiency, too, shooting 35.5% from the field and 22.4% from beyond the arc. This was a second straight first-round exit for Harden, and you wonder if he will ever accomplish that goal of winning a title. He made the NBA Finals in 2011 in just his second season in the league with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but hasn't gotten back to that stage since. Advertisement At this point, you wouldn't fancy Harden's chances of winning a championship with the Clippers either. They had a great opportunity to go on a deep run this year with Kawhi Leonard finally being healthy, but fell at the very first hurdle. Despite that setback, Harden and the Clippers are interested in continuing their partnership, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. He has a $36.3 million player option for the 2025-26 season and is likely to decline it to sign a deal through the 2026-27 season. While Harden disappointed in the postseason, he does deserve to get a tidy extension this offseason. He averaged 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game in 2024-25 to make the All-NBA Third Team. It was a great bounce-back campaign, and it's a pity Harden wasn't able to end it on a positive note. England winger Feyi-Waboso suspended from 2-test series in Argentina

DUBLIN (AP) — England will debate the worth of taking Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on its Americas tour next month after the winger received a two-match suspension on Sunday. Feyi-Waboso was sent off during the England XV's 26-24 loss to a France XV on Saturday at Twickenham. He caught Antoine Hastoy in the head with a swinging right arm in an attempted first-half tackle. His yellow card was upgraded on review to a 20-minute red card. A World Rugby disciplinary hearing confirmed it was a dangerous tackle and suspended Feyi-Waboso for both of England's tests in Argentina on July 5 and 12. He will be available for the test against the United States on July 19 in Washington, D.C., if he completes World Rugby's tackle school. Saturday's game was Feyi-Waboso's first action since December, when he dislocated his shoulder. He missed the Six Nations and a possible place in the British and Irish Lions squad. England is set to name its touring squad on Monday. ___
