The following guide provides comprehensive information for anyone who wants to experience the top wildlife safari adventures within proximity of Goa City during their travel to this beach destination.
1. Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary: A Gateway to Nature
About 60 kilometers distant from Panaji the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary (Known as Mollem National Park) draws many visitors to its wildlife safaris. The sanctuary covers an area of 240 square kilometers while belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Western Ghats. The sanctuary offers greener-evergreen forests alongside the tourist attraction Dudhsagar Falls and diverse plant and animal species. A safari tour allows visitors to identify the Indian bison (gaur) and leopards as well as deer and monkeys and multiple bird types in the sanctuary.
2. Spotting Exotic Birds at Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary
Birdwatchers along with nature enthusiasts should include the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary among their destinations because it lies 90 kilometers south of Panaji. During its establishment in 1968 the sanctuary acquired a total area of 86 square kilometers that grows from dense deciduous woodlands and lofty trees. The sanctuary attracts visitors because its bird species include common sightings of Malabar pied hornbills along with kingfishers and paradise flycatchers. The nighttime wildlife population at this tranquil habitat consists of unique creatures such as pangolins and giant squirrels.
3. Exploring Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary: A Compact Paradise
The wildlife sanctuary at Bondla exists in northeastern Goa and provides enthusiasts with an excellent experience. The sanctuary exists within 8 square kilometers of land space yet contains diverse forms of biodiversity that exceed larger sanctuaries. The sanctuary operates as an endangered species sanctuary where Indian elephants and gaur breed. People visiting the park can take jeep safaris and participate in guided walks because it contains both a mini zoo and botanical garden. Travelers who bring their children will find Bondla the most accommodating sanctuary because of its friendly atmosphere for families.
4. Dudhsagar Falls: A Natural Wonder Within Wildlife Territory
Dudhsagar Falls serves as a prominent attraction within the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary although it does not exist solely as a wildlife site yet delivers enchanting moments to every safari outing. One of India's highest waterfalls stands at 310 meters as Dudhsagar Falls plunges its waters through dense forested areas. The monsoon season brings exceptional waterfalls at Dudhsagar which attracts visitors who want to see wildlife as they witness the amazing natural beauty. While walking to the waterfall, always watch for active monkeys and experience the amazing colors of flying butterflies.
5. Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary: Offbeat Adventure
People looking for different wildlife encounters beyond tourist clusters will find Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary situated in southeastern Goa an ideal destination. The sanctuary extends to 211 square kilometers and presents a mixture of wet and semi-evergreen forests. Visitors experience great luck while observing tigers, leopards and black panthers that reside among the sanctuary's forests. Birdwatchers who come to visit will find pleasure in observing the endemic hornbill species such as the Malabar grey hornbill alongside the great Indian hornbill. Access to the sanctuary remains unaffected by human activity because of its distant position.
Tips for an Unforgettable Wildlife Safari Experience
These useful recommendations will lead to an optimal wildlife safari experience near Goa City:
Visit these sanctuaries from October through March because the nice weather during this period matches with active animal behavior.
Popular spots Bhagwan Mahavir and Cotigao are managed based on booking requirements for both safari visits and accommodation reservations.
Respect Wildlife requires observers to stay at a secure distance from animals while leaving no trash behind to protect the natural habitats.
Working with established guide services provides visitors the chance to discover native habitat information while boosting their opportunities to witness wildlife.
Pack Essentials includes using binoculars along with cameras and sunscreen as well as insect repellent and easy-to-wear clothing for outdoor activities.
Drinking plenty of water remains essential because the hot tropical conditions lead to rapid dehydration.
Several wildlife sanctuaries depend on tourism money for their conservation work so support their activities by donating or joining their environmentally-friendly projects when possible.

Viral post claims 3 H-1B visa holders were denied entry to US for staying in India over 60 days
A viral post claimed 3 H-1B visa holders were denied entry to the US as they spent over 60 days in India. A viral social media post claimed that three Indian nationals reportedly were denied entry to the US after they flouted the rules and stayed in India for over 60 days. A message posted on the Threads narrating the situation of these three H-1B visa holders is doing the rounds, after they were stopped at Abu Dhabi immigration and their visas were revoked. The post has triggered a debate among the H-1B community as many doubted that this was fake and their entry must have been restricted for some other reason. According to the viral post, all three of them had proof of emergency and approval emails from the company and attorney, but still, they were sent back. One stayed for two months and 27 days, while the other two stayed in India for over three months. "Very sorry to hear this. Just now, three H1B holders messaged me from Abu Dhabi Airport. They were denied entry and had their H1B visas cancelled for staying in India beyond 60 days — one stayed 2 months 27 days, the others over 3 months. They're now waiting for flights back — one to Bangalore, two to Hyderabad. Even with employer letters and emergency proof, CBP still revoked their visas under 22 CFR 41.122(h)(3)," the message read. A Thread post shared the incident of 3 H-1B visa holders denied entry to the US. One Redditor claimed that there is no such rule as long as the visa and the employment remain valid. "Something doesn't seem right here. As an Indian passport holder on an H1B visa — which is a non-immigrant, temporary worker visa — you are allowed to stay outside the U.S. for an extended period, as long as your visa and employment remain valid," the user wrote. "There is no specific law that restricts H1B holders from being outside the US for more than 60 days. It appears the immigration officers may not have followed proper guidelines in this case, and the decision to deport these individuals seems questionable," the user added.

FASTag Annual Pass available from August 15: Who is eligible, how to get it
FASTag, India's electronic toll collection system, will soon offer a more convenient, once-a-year annual pass for users. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced last week that it was rolling out a FASTag Annual Pass to enable hassle-free travel on Indian highways. The annual pass will cost Rs 3,000 and will become available for purchase from August 15 this year. This pass is only valid for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. It will allow commuters to travel toll-free for 200 trips or one year from the date on which the pass is activated, whichever comes first. In addition, the annual FASTag pass will only work at toll plazas that are operated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This means holders of the annual pass will still need to pay toll on state highways, private-run toll roads, and state-run expressways. The FASTag annual pass is primarily aimed at frequent commuters, and is expected to reduce congestion at toll plazas while saving costs for long-distance highway travellers. It is part of the Indian government's broader efforts to modernise road infrastructure in the country while enhancing user convenience on the national highway grid. 'By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimizing disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners,' Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in a post on X. Important Announcement 📢 🔹In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, effective from 15th August 2025. Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips—whichever comes… — Nitin Gadkari (@nitin_gadkari) June 18, 2025 Here is a step-by-step guide to purchasing and activating the FASTag annual pass. The annual pass will be available for purchase from August 15, 2025, onwards through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application and on the official websites of the NHAI as well as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Do not use third-party websites and portals to purchase the annual pass in order to avoid being scammed. Keep these points in mind while availing the FASTag annual pass: – The vehicle must be a non-commercial, personal vehicle like a car or jeep. – It should already have an active FASTag plastered on the windshield of the vehicle. – The FASTag of the vehicle should be linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). – It should not be blacklisted or under dispute. Commuters also need to remember that each annual FASTag pass will be attached to a particular vehicle and cannot be transferred to other vehicles. Follow the simple steps mentioned below to activate your FASTag annual pass. – First, ensure that your FASTag is active, installed, and linked to a valid VRN. – Visit the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app or official NHAI website. – Enter vehicle details such as your registration number and FASTag ID. – Choose one of the payment options to make a single-time payment of Rs 3,000. – The annual pass will be activated once the transaction is successful. – You will also receive an SMS confirmation on your FASTag registered mobile number. To be sure, the FASTag annual pass is voluntary meaning that users who do not travel so much can continue using FASTag in the existing pay-per-user mode. However, if you travel long distances every day to-and-fro work or school, then the annual pass could offer some cost saving and convenience benefits. A user on LinkedIn did the math and figured out that high-frequency commuters could potentially end up saving Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 in toll fees, assuming that they take 50 trips a year or roughly one trip per week. But how do you define a trip? Trips are counted based on the type of toll system. In open or point-based toll plazas, one-way toll crossings are equivalent to one toll systems, on the other hand, count entry-to-exit as one full trip.
