London-Bound Air India Flight Cancelled In Ahmedabad Due To Technical Glitch

An Air India flight (AI 159) from Ahmedabad to London was cancelled on Tuesday due to technical issues. The aircraft had earlier arrived from New Delhi.
An Air India flight, scheduled to depart for London from Ahmedabad, was cancelled on Tuesday due to technical issues.
According to the details, the Air India flight AI 159 had arrived from New Delhi to Ahmedabad and was scheduled to take off to London.
This was the second Ahmedabad to London Air India flight to have encountered a technical glitch, after another one crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on June 12, killing 241 of 242 onboard.
On Monday, another of the carrier's flights was cancelled after facing delays caused by operational issues, eventually leading to the expiry of the crew's duty time.
News agency ANI quoted sources and reported that Air India's flight AI2493 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was supposed to be operated by an Airbus A321-211 aircraft (VT-PPL).
Early on Tuesday, an Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai suffered a technical glitch in one of its engines.
All passengers on the flight were asked to deplane at the Kolkata airport, where the flight had arrived for a layover.
On Monday, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi was diverted back to the national capital shortly after taking off, due to a suspected technical issue.
Before that, an Air India flight returned to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff due to a midair technical issue.
Air India said in a statement that the New Delhi-bound plane landed in Hong Kong safely and was undergoing checks 'as a matter of abundant precaution."
Meanwhile, four days after the deadliest crash in the country in three decades claimed 270 lives, 119 victims have so far been identified through DNA matching with their family members, authorities said.
They also said that the mortal remains of 76 of them, including that of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, were handed over to their families.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (AI171) crashed into some buildings in the BJ Medical College campus and burst into flames moments after it took off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
One passenger survived the disaster.

A total of 247 victims of the horrific June 12 Ahmedabad plane crash have been identified through DNA tests so far and 232 bodies have been handed over to their families, officials said on Saturday (June 21, 2025). The authorities have asked the families of eight victims to submit the DNA samples of another relative, as the previous ones failed to match, they said. Police said the matching of DNA samples confirmed that Ahmedabad-based filmmaker Mahesh Jirawala, who was reported missing following the crash, died in the catastrophe. His mortal remains were handed over to his family. In Maharashtra, relatives and friends gave an emotional farewell to Deepak Pathak and Irfan Shaikh — two crew members of the ill-fated flight — at Badlapur in Thane district and in Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune city respectively. The London-bound aircraft crashed into a hostel complex in Meghaninagar moments after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1.39 p.m. that day, killing 270 persons, including 241 on board. One passenger survived. Authorities are carrying out DNA tests to establish the identity of the victims as many bodies were charred beyond recognition as the aircraft burst into flames or damaged on impact. 'Till Saturday evening, 247 DNA samples have matched. Relatives of these deceased were contacted. So far, mortal remains of 232 victims have been handed over to families. The process is continuing,' Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi said. The 247 victims who have been identified comprise 187 Indians, 52 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and a Canadian, he said. Of the 187 Indians, a total of 175 were on board the ill-fated aircraft, he said, adding they belong to areas in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Diu and Nagaland. The state government had earlier stated that samples of 250 victims, including persons on board the ill-fated flight as well as those killed on the ground, were collected for identification. The families of eight victims have been asked to give a sample of another relative for DNA tests after the first one did not match, Dr. Joshi said. 'Unless there is a match, bodies cannot be handed over to the kin. When there is no match for a longer period of time, then you can ask for another sample from another relative. If one sibling has given the sample, then a sample of another sibling is sought for matching the DNA with that of the victim,' he said. 'We generally prefer a sample of father or son/daughter. If not, then we take a sample of another available member,' Dr. Joshi added.

AI crew member Deepak Pathak's body reaches home in Badlapur for final rites
Badlapur: The body of Air India cabin crew member and Badlapur-resident Deepak Pathak, 32, who died in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, was identified on Friday, a week after the incident. His body reached his home on Saturday, where hundreds of people attended his funeral. His last rites were performed at the cremation ground in Badlapur. Deepak's elderly parents, wife, and both sisters were inconsolable. His relatives, Air India employees and senior officials were among those present for the last rites. Pathak worked in Air India for 11 years and was posted as a cabin crew member a few months ago. After the incident, his two sisters and brother-in-law waited in Ahmedabad for the body. The DNA test of the sisters was done twice, but Deepak's body could not be identified as their DNA did not match his. Later, doctors took DNA samples from Deepak's mother, who was in Badlapur. Her son's body was identified on Friday, eight days after the incident. On Saturday morning, Deepak's body reached JD Rawal Complex in the Katrap area of Badlapur, where he resided. Sandesh Patil, a resident of the complex, said, "Deepak was like a brother to us; we are all saddened by his death." Pathak's family said that on the day of the incident, June 12, he was not assigned duty on the flight. He was on sick leave and was scheduled for a trip to London on June 14. However, he received a call from officials citing an emergency on June 11, so he left for Ahmedabad. The family said Deepak was a dedicated employee, but if he had refused to resume duty that day, he would have been alive today.

"Sukhu govt's mindset is anti-Sanatan": Jairam Thakur attacks Congress govt
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh LoP and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Congress government, accusing them of fostering an 'anti-Sanatan' mindset and systematically targeting the Hindu population of the state. Thakur was addressing a press conference in Shimla alongside State BJP President Rajiv Bindal. 'Ever since the Congress came to power, incidents against Hindus have been on the rise in Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister himself had publicly spoken of defeating a party that represents the ideology of 97 per cent Hindus of this state. That statement has now become the government's operating mindset,' said Thakur. 'The case of a missing Hindu girl is nothing but love jihad. Shockingly, the police deliberately delayed registering an FIR despite repeated requests from the family. It was only after angry public protests that the girl was traced,' referring to a recent incident in Paonta Sahib, Thakur said. He alleged that the government responded to the public outrage not with justice but political vengeance. 'Cases under BNS Section 109 have now been registered against senior BJP leaders, including Dr Rajiv Bindal and former minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary. This is nothing but a case of political retaliation,' Thakur added. He said during the present Congress regime there were multiple incidents pointing to Anti-Hindu bias. The BJP leader said that this was not the first time the Congress government had displayed open bias against Hindus or attempted to stifle the voice of the opposition. 'In the Manohar murder case in Chamba, the government didn't allow opposition leaders to visit the spot. In Nahan, a Muslim youth from Saharanpur slaughtered a cow and shared the photos on social media yet no legal action was taken,' he said. Thakur also raised the issue of an illegal mosque construction in Sanjauli, a matter that had sparked national outrage. 'Despite the uproar, the Congress government chose to remain silent,' he said. The LoP alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was turning a blind eye to serious issues like 'love jihad', illegal religious structures, and alleged cow slaughter. 'All of this reveals a deliberate anti-Sanatan intent. If the false cases filed against BJP leaders are not withdrawn immediately, we will launch a massive statewide agitation,' Thakur warned. Rajiv Bindal, who was present at the press conference, echoed these sentiments and said the government was resorting to vendetta politics instead of focusing on law and order. The BJP leadership has demanded immediate withdrawal of what they termed as 'false and fabricated' charges and warned of intensified protests if their demand is not met. (ANI)
