On the occasion of Pakistan Day, under the guidance of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the country's largest laser light show was held at Minar-e-Pakistan.
For the first time in this grand event, the individuals who presented the Pakistan Resolution at Manto Park were honoured with a display of lights.
Late at night, Minar-e-Pakistan lit up with green and white lights, creating a breathtaking sight visible from afar. During the laser light show, images of the crescent, star, and national flag appeared on the monument, with every part of it glowing brightly.
The architectural design of Minar-e-Pakistan was accentuated with the help of laser lights, highlighting its star-shaped base and enhancing its constructional beauty.
The surrounding laser lights mesmerised the viewers, and a large number of citizens gathered to witness this historic moment.
Other historical landmarks of Lahore, such as the Lahore Fort, Museum, Punjab Assembly, and GPO, were also illuminated with green lights, presenting a beautiful visual of the national flag's theme.
The public praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for organising the spectacular light show and expressed their appreciation for paying the best tribute to Pakistan on this national occasion.
Citizens remarked that the shimmering lights at Minar-e-Pakistan created a dream-like atmosphere, as if a procession of sparkling green and white stars was emerging on the horizon.
The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day on Sunday with a renewed commitment to transforming the country into an Islamic welfare state as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The day marks the anniversary of the Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for a separate homeland for Muslims of the Subcontinent.
Celebrations began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr for the nation's progress and prosperity.
This year, the Pakistan Day parade was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr instead of its traditional venue at Shakarparian Parade Ground.

CM vows plantation on 50k acres
The Punjab government plans to plant 42 million trees on 50,869 acres under the Chief Minister Plant for Pakistan Initiative. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said in a statement highlighting key features of the initiative on Saturday that the provincial budget reflected her government's eco-friendly vision, with landmark steps launched under the Punjab Green Programme to combat climate change and promote sustainable development. She added that 1.375 million trees were being planted on 3,790 acres of forest wasteland under the CM Agroforestry Initiative. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted, "Large-scale tree plantation and environmental projects are being launched under the Punjab Green Programme." She said the scope of the Green Pakistan Programme had been expanded and plantation of 466.463 million trees on 251,000 acres was being pursued. She added, "Plantation of five million trees in rows on 10,223 miles in the canal area of Punjab has been initiated." She underscored, "Provision of world-class facilities for the promotion of eco-tourism in Lal Suhanra National Park and Salt Range are being ensured." Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "A wireless network, digital cameras, GPS devices and CCTV cameras are being provided for eco-tourism." She added, "Construction of an eco-friendly certified multi-storey building has been started to establish a protected nature area, where modern facilities have been provided for the staff." She also announced a Shielding Summits Programme for disaster prevention in the mountains of Murree and Kahuta with the recruitment of 600 fire watchers, provision of fire vehicles and watch towers. The Chief Minister said, "Restoration of forest tracks and construction of tanks for springwater are also part of the project." She added that a GIS-based protection system had been introduced for immediate detection of fire and encroachment with drone and satellite technology. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "A digital communication cell has been established, modern monitoring equipment and additional staff are being provided to the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the Forest Department." She added, "Digital tree enumeration in rows and a GIS-based survey have been started in Punjab." The chief minister said, "Modern machinery has been purchased for forestry work. The process of plantation and forestry operations has been accelerated." She pointed out, "Establishment of 104 Forest Command and Control Centres for 24-hour monitoring across the province is significantly increasing the capacity for forest protection." Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Punjab government have agreed for financial cooperation for establishing an environment protection observatory, use of modern agricultural machinery and launching an advanced public transport system. Senior Provincial Minister Marruyum Aurangzeb held a meeting with an ADB delegation regarding key initiatives. The meeting featured a detailed discussion on a 'New Country Partnership Strategy' for Pakistan. Both sides exchanged views on Pakistan's strategic growth challenges and deliberated on promoting a transparent development process, boosting exports and investments, establishing a modern trade system, and ensuring efficient and transparent utilisation of public capital. The senior minister said the provincial budget includes record-breaking projects focused on health, education, skill development and overall improvement in public life. A cardiac hospital is being established in Sargodha, while the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital is being set up in Lahore. She said new public health schemes included Clinic on Wheels, specialised mother and child health centres, and the establishment of new outpatient departments (OPDs). She emphasiwed that comprehensive steps were being taken to introduce technology in sectors such as agriculture, industry, fisheries, dams and IT. For the first time, a Socio-Economic Registry is being developed to accurately assess public needs and base planning on realistic foundations. She said historic initiatives had been introduced in Punjab for environmental protection, with practical measures under way to make every sector eco-friendly. The introduction of electric buses is helping to reduce pollution sources, while the establishment of the environmental observatory will enable effective monitoring of climate changes. The ADB delegation offered full support for a modern, green and prosperous future of the province.

Opposition walkouts amid passage of resolution commemorating BB's birthday
KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Saturday witnessed a dramatic turn during its budget session as the House passed a resolution commemorating the 72nd birth anniversary of late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto — the first woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world — amid loud opposition protests and a walkout. The resolution, presented by veteran parliamentarian and PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, was moved out of turn with special permission from the Deputy Speaker, Anthony Naveed. This procedural bypass infuriated opposition lawmakers, who erupted in protest, raised slogans, and eventually staged a walkout from the Assembly floor. In response to the uproar, Nisar Khuhro addressed the opposition members directly, saying, 'Even you should feel proud of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. By protesting during this resolution, you are only tarnishing your image in the eyes of the people of Sindh. This resolution has been prepared in consultation with Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.' Despite the opposition's absence, the resolution paying tribute to Benazir Bhutto on her birthday was adopted by the House. Later, speaking to the media outside the Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Ali Khursheedi condemned the government's move, calling it a violation of Assembly norms and the Constitution. 'We were told on budget day that no resolutions could be tabled during the budget session. When we tried to bring a resolution in support of Iran, we were denied. But today, the same rules were bent for a political tribute. This selective application of the Constitution is unacceptable,' he said. Khursheedi further remarked, 'Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto is indeed a respected figure for all, but no one — regardless of stature — should be paid homage at the cost of violating the House's procedures during a budget session.' Taking a pointed jab, he added, 'I'm merely reminding history — Nisar Khuhro once distributed sweets upon the martyrdom of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.' CM to give cattle worth Rs2bn to rural women
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif took another historic step for the financial empowerment and socio-economic development of women living in villages of southern Punjab, as she arranged a better source of employment for the poor and needy rural women. The CM said, 'Poor widows living in villages will get buffaloes and cows. About 11,000 rural women will be given buffaloes and cows with a budget of Rs 2 billion in 12 districts of southern Punjab. As many as 4870 cattle will be given in the first phase of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's unprecedented program.' She highlighted, 'CM Punjab Livestock Assets Program aims to increase milk production and provide employment to rural women at home. Under this program, rural women in Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah and Kot Addu will get free cattle. In Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur too, rural women will get free cattle for a better livelihood.' The CM added, 'Divorced and widowed poor women up to the age of 55 can also apply through the app while sitting at home. Rural women can also contact 'Chief Minister Facilitation Desk' at the Animal Hospital to get free cattle.' Chief Minister said, 'Elimination of poverty gap between villages and cities is our resolve. Economic development is also the right of a daughter living in villages.' The CM emphasised, 'Equal economic opportunities are being provided in cities and villages. Whether a woman lives in a city or in a village, education, health and employment are her basic rights.'
