Dubai rolls out free Wi-Fi across public bus stations

Your commute just got a major upgrade. Free Wi-Fi is now live across Dubai's bus and marine stations, so whether you're catching up on your group chat, planning your weekend, or doomscrolling the news – it's all on the house.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of the rollout of the free Wi-Fi service in collaboration with Dubai e& network. You'll find it at 21 public bus stations and 22 marine transport stations in the city.
The service enables public transport users to stay connected on smartphones, tablets, and laptops while commuting.
The RTA is making strides to accelerate digital transformation across all its services. Additionally, it reflects RTA's commitment to improving the daily experience for commuters, making journeys on public transport more enjoyable and rewarding. They also aim to improve the commuter experience for drivers too with initiatives to ease traffic being implemented such as new bridges, new roads and even the addition of driverless taxis next year in 2026.
The new Dubai Wi-Fi service will undergo evaluation to be expanded and enhanced in collaboration with e&.
In other transport news, it was announced last week, that the Dubai Metro will be getting a new AI-driven robot that inspects tracks and infrastructure completely on its own.
Meet ARIIS (Automated Rail Infrastructure Inspection System) — the latest AI-powered addition to the city's smart transport ecosystem. Launched by Dubai's RTA in collaboration with Keolis MHI and Future Maintenance Technologies (FMT), this clever robot is packed with lasers, LiDAR sensors, and 3D cameras that work together to scan the tracks for maintenance needs — all without disrupting your daily commute.
So while you're sleeping (or scrolling Instagram in the metro), ARIIS is quietly doing the rounds, helping ensure your ride is smooth, safe, and super-efficient.

Once people started to see my work they thought it was a great idea and encouraged me to pursue it. How have things evolved since you launched? I've been so lucky to have received such a phenomenal response from my clients and social media. This has really helped me grow my business. Every day people hire me and my team to help organize their spaces. We immerse ourselves in their homes and move through their spaces tailoring a highly-functional system. In the beginning, it was difficult to take on large projects, but as my team grew, we are now capable of really helping our clients organise as many spaces in their homes as they need. For those who are having a refresh for a new year, what are your top tips to start organising your space and life? Before buying anything new, take a minute or two to think about where it is going to live in your home and life. Think about how long you will need this item and what will happen to it in the future when you no longer do it. If it is something that you feel will add no real value to your space, then you most probably don't need it. Ask yourselves questions such as: When was the last time you wore it?; Is it in good condition?; Does it have sentimental value?; Have you worn it in the past year?; Does it fit you properly? Your answers will help you decide whether you want to keep, donate or store away your item. Over the years, what have been the hurdles you've experienced when building the Tidymess concept? Starting any business from scratch is a challenge. In my case, I was starting a business from scratch about a new concept that few people had heard of. I would say bringing my vision to life was a great challenge because it took a while for people to realize the necessity of adopting a new lifestyle for their homes as opposed to seeing my work as simply 'cleaning up' the house. What have been the key milestones? I would say my first milestone was when I was able to bring in a team to help me serve my clients better. Building a team gave me a sense of accomplishment that something I had started on my own was now growing into something more. My second milestone was after having my third child and realizing that I did not need to stop working. It took a lot of mental and emotional energy to see that it was okay for me to keep doing what I loved. Once I started taking on new projects again, I was so proud of myself and happy that I had not just let it go because of my new responsibilities and busy life. What does the future hold for Tidymess? Continue to grow and reach more people. Everyone can be a part of this concept. Whether they want to hire our services, buy our favourite products online or simply gain a few ideas from our social media page. I hope my team and I can help more people organize their spaces and love their homes. What will you be doing to reset your mindset and body for 2023? Keep finding that balance. As a mum of three and founder of a female-owned business, I find myself wearing many hats at once and that can quickly become overwhelming. I just need to keep finding that balance between my home life, work life and also those moments that are just for me. Public transport: Dubai to get 637 eco-friendly buses

Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) recently announced that its adding to its fleet of buses and have ordered 637 public buses to grace the roads of Dubai. The buses are worth a large Dhs1.1 billion and are sure to assist in the development of public transport around the city. The buses are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026 and there will be various types including 40 electric ones. The announcement was shared after four major agreements were made and, H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA, witnessed the signing at UITP Global Public Transport Summit. RTA also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese company BYD, to pilot the operation of an electric bus equipped with the latest technologies and battery systems offered by the company. The trial will take place in Dubai over a period that includes the summer season. Dubai's RTA to get over 600 eco-friendly buses under AED 1.1 billion deal

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to add 637 eco-friendly buses to its fleet after signing an agreement worth AED 1.1 billion at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit. The buses will meet the European 'Euro 6' low-emission standards, highlighting the RTA's commitment to support Dubai's sustainability goals transition towards a 100 per cent electric and hydrogen-powered public bus fleet by 2050. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025 and 2026, and also includes 40 electric buses, marking the country's "largest and first-of-its-kind order". The authority also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Build Your Dreams (BYD) to trial electric buses in the city. The e-buses will feature the latest battery systems and technologies developed by BYD.
