'Inspirational' Kohli still hungry for success with RCB
Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower says that "inspirational" Virat Kohli is still "extremely hungry" for success with the franchise.India superstar Kohli has been with RCB for the entirety of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and led the side between 2013-2021. He was integral to his side's run to the play-offs last year, winning the purple cap for the tournament's leading run-scorer with 741 runs in 15 innings. "He's been brilliant to work with," former England Test coach Flower told the BBC Stumped podcast. "It was great seeing him up close, in the dressing room, in meetings, in training, in competition. He's a really impressive guy, and last season was testing for all of us, particularly for the leadership group because we had such a bad start to the season."In our first eight games we'd lost seven of them - luckily we turned it round and part of the reason for that was the leadership from within the playing group and Virat was a huge part of that. "He was brilliant under pressure. He also evolved his own game as the season wore on which I thought from a 35, 36-year-old player that had done everything in the game, was amazing to witness."India batter Rajat Patidar has been named as RCB captain for 2025 and Flower also credited Kohli's influence on the younger players as a big motivation for the side. "When he leads, other people follow. He's a great role model for the way people train, he's still extremely hungry, he's brilliant in the field, and listening to him talk in a team huddle and in meetings, he knows the game inside out and he's an inspirational guy."

Blues supporters also said Boehly's position felt like a "breach of trust" and a "clear conflict of interest". Vivid Seats, who often sell tickets at inflated rates, is listed on the Premier League website as an unauthorised ticket website. The league has even told fans to "exercise extreme caution" when purchasing from Vivid Seats. "RM advised the PL would reply to CST once the PL had concluded its discussions with the club." Chelsea took strong action against ticket touts earlier this season. Ralf Rangnick criticises Man United's lack of 'decision-makers' as he sends warning to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co - and singles out big-money star he would NOT have signed
Former Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has hit out at the lack of decision makers at the club. Rangnick was interim boss of United between December 2021 and May 2022. Although United have won trophies such as the FA Cup and the League Cup in recent years, the overall trajectory of the club has been hugely concerning. Last season United, now managed by Ruben Amorim, finished in 15th place in the Premier League, while they were beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final. United have tried various different approaches since the departure of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 but have struggled to find the right formula, especially under the guidance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS. Rangnick also hinted that he wouldn't have signed one big money star. Rangnick expressed his belief that he feels that United have a 'leadership problem'. As reported by Sport, Rangnick said: 'I think we have to go back to 2013, when Sir Alex left the club. And at the time he was still there, he was the mastermind behind it all. He probably also brought a lot of important people to the club. And the moment he left, some of those people probably left the club as well. And, since then, I think they have a leadership problem. 'Who's really making the decisions and why are they making them? Are they really the best people for the job? I can only tell you that the six months I was there, it was difficult to say, even for me as head coach. 'Who were the decision-makers? Who? Who could I talk to? If we wanted to sign new players, it was difficult. There were people, but in the end, it was difficult.' United have various high-profile officials including director of sport Dave Brailsford and technical director Jason Wilcox. Rangnick, who is now the coach of the Austria national team, stated that clubs should look to invest in talented young players as opposed to those who are aged between 28 and 30. The comments from Rangnick appear to be a thinly-veiled dig at Casemiro, who United signed from Real Madrid at the age of 30 in the summer of 2022 for £60million plus £10million in add-ons. 'If I were the owner or sporting director of a club, I would only try to sign and invest in young players. Because no matter how you look at it, it only makes sense. Does it make sense to spend 30, 40, 50 million on a 28-or 30-year-old signing? Not really. 'Let's calculate it. You sign a 28- or 30-year-old with a five-year contract. You spend 50 million more on the transfer fee, an average of 15 million euros per year multiplied by five. That's 65 million plus the 50 million transfer fee equals 115 million, plus the agents' fees. The whole operation costs you around 130 million.' Casemiro remains at United and has made 125 appearances for the club. United have spent over £600million on transfers since Rangnick's departure but some of those deals certainly haven't worked out as expected.
