TV BRICS, UN Global Compact Network Russia agree to cooperate on promoting sustainable business development
H-Tayea As part of the cooperation, the TV BRICS International Media Network will provide media support to Russian businesses in the areas of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. It will also support the promotion of Russian business interests and best practices through the platforms of leading media outlets in BRICS+ countries. At the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the corresponding agreement on media partnership was signed by Chairman of TV BRICS Ivan Polyakov and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Russia Natalia Dorpeko. The parties agreed to cooperate on promoting best practices in sustainable development and social responsibility, including the implementation of media, cultural and educational projects aimed at fostering international knowledge exchange and expanding business partnerships in line with the UN 2030 Agenda. 'In 2025, several milestone anniversaries will be marked in connection with the work of the United Nations: the 80th anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter; the 25th anniversary of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest initiative for implementing the sustainable development agenda; the 10th anniversary of the Millennium Declaration 'Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development', which includes the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030); and the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty adopted under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. At the same time, in 2025, the positive results of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship in 2024 will be summarised. It is important to note that the BRICS group was initiated by the Russian Federation, the first BRICS summit was held in Russia in June 2006, and our country also chaired the group during the 15th anniversary of BRICS. The signing of the Agreement between the UN Global Compact Network Russia and TV BRICS is highly symbolic in this context and holds special potential for advancing international cooperation on the UN's sustainable development agenda,' stated Natalia Dorpeko. TV BRICS Chairman Ivan Polyakov noted that since 2018 the International Media Network has been cooperating with the United Nations and has extensive experience in conducting media campaigns in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The mission of the UN Global Compact and the important work of the UN Global Compact Network Russia are closely aligned with the strategic objectives of TV BRICS, which lays the groundwork for effective and long-term cooperation. Ivan Polyakov particularly emphasised that efforts to promote the Global Compact agenda will take into account the development priorities of BRICS, its partner countries, and the BRICS+ format. In 2018, a cooperation agreement was signed between TV BRICS and the UN Secretariat (represented by the UN Department of Public Information). TV BRICS was included in the international SDG Media Compact, an initiative launched by the UN to consolidate media support for the promotion of the SDG concept. TV BRICS initiates and promotes a number of international projects on sustainable development topics via its partner media in BRICS+ countries. For instance, to popularise quality education, TV BRICS has established ongoing cooperation with universities and research centres across different nations. TV BRICS regularly produces and disseminates information materials on global challenges such as poverty, hunger, inequality, and climate change. The TV BRICS International Media Network strengthens global partnerships, including in the media and communications sector, working with over 100 major media outlets in 26 countries around the world. To support sustainable agricultural development, the TV series 'Agroparallels' was produced in collaboration with a partner in Brazil. In 2025, a new television project titled 'BRICS GRAIN' will be launched. The UN Global Compact is an international initiative for business in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. Its mission is to mobilise responsible companies that, under various political, economic, environmental, cultural, geographical, and other conditions, share and implement a common set of ethical principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, while also supporting and working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The UN Global Compact continues to show dynamic growth in participation, currently bringing together around 25,500 companies and organisations from 167 countries worldwide, including the Russian Federation. Approximately 4,500 of these companies are from BRICS countries. The UN Global Compact Network Russia supports the implementation of Russia's National Development Goals up to 2030 and beyond to 2036. It is engaged in systematic project work and the representation of Russian business interests and best practices on global platforms. The network's activities aim to affirm the proactive stance of Russian business in seeking optimal sustainable development pathways, as well as its readiness to contribute intellectually, organisationally, and informationally to further advancing global UN initiatives in social responsibility and sustainable development, in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders and based on fair national priorities. The agreement between TV BRICS and the UN Global Compact Network Russia will contribute to the implementation of the UN General Assembly Resolution 'Towards global partnerships: a principle-based approach to enhanced cooperation between the United Nations and all relevant partners". The resolution recognises the important role of national Global Compact networks in fostering partnerships with international business communities at the national level and in supporting the implementation of the sustainable development agenda within their countries. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Expert discusses BRICS cooperation in the energy sector
H-Tayea The energy research platform has proven itself to be an effective mechanism for cooperation. This was stated by Aleksey Kulapin, General Director of the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Russia's Ministry of Energy, in an exclusive interview at the TV BRICS studio in the Roscongress International Cooperation Area at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum ( SPIEF) 2025, according to TV BRICS. According to him, the experience of this mechanism is now being replicated in other areas of cooperation between the countries of the association. The Russian secretariat operates on the basis of the Russian Energy Agency. Research is determined annually and includes both regular and specialised work. In the context of the Russia-BRICS concept, the key topic of the research was the formation of principles for the energy transition for the countries of the association. "The conclusion reached by our experts, which was unanimous, is that each country has the right and must independently determine the trajectory of its energy transition based on its functional characteristics, energy structure and economy," said Aleksey Kulapin. According to him, the BRICS countries include both exporters and importers of energy resources, so there can be no universal approach. At the same time, states must comply with international obligations and ensure the improvement of their citizens' quality of life. The key principle approved by all BRICS countries is that the energy transition must be technologically neutral. As Kulapin noted, "the development of renewable energy sources should not be fetishised." According to Russian forecasts, their share will grow by 2050, but gas will remain the main source of energy. The share of oil and coal will decline. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Expert names key areas for further cooperation among BRICS and BRICS+ states
H-Tayea The economic and investment potential of the BRICS and BRICS+ frameworks lies in their scale, diversity, and shared ambition to shape a new global economic order. This was stated by Walid Farghal, Director General of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress), in an exclusive interview at the TV BRICS studio in the Roscongress International Cooperation Area at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025. 'The BRICS and the BRICS+ represent a global segment in economy. Through their combined population – more than 3 billion people – they surpassed their presence as emerging countries to be a group contributing to the global economy and having their own power in terms of economic impact on their populations as well as for neighbouring countries and for all member countries of BRICS,' he said. Farghal emphasised several areas of high potential for further collaboration: 'The areas of cooperation of the BRICS and the BRICS+ countries can be in the green investment, environmental investment, and the climate change. It can be also in the digital economy, the FinTech solutions, logistics, and the transport.' He noted that development in these sectors would be mutually beneficial: 'It plays a key role in all the BRICS countries to contribute to each other through their own resources, their own manufacturing requirements.' The Director General of AIM Congress also stressed the importance of inclusive growth and support for small and medium-sized businesses. He concluded by calling for a joint effort to reduce barriers to trade and investment: 'It is very important to develop easy policies from all the governments of BRICS, which will facilitate more investment and trade flows in these countries.'
